| 1 | Simultaneous heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification at high initial phenol concentration by isolated bacterium Diaphorobacter sp. PD-7显示文摘A strain capable of phenol degradation, heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification was isolated from activated sludge of coking-plant wastewater ponds under aerobic condition. Based on its morphology, physiology,biochemical analysis and phylogenetic characteristics, the isolate was identified as Diaphorobacter sp. PD-7.Biodegradation tests of phenol showed that the maximum phenol degradation occurred at the late phase of exponential growth stages, with 1400 mg·L-1phenol completely degraded within 85 h. Diaphorobacter sp. PD-7accumulated a vast quantity of phenol hydroxylase in this physiological phase, ensuring that the cells quickly utilize phenol as a sole carbon and energy source. The kinetic behavior of Diaphorobacter sp. PD-7 in batch cultures was investigated over a wide range of initial phenol concentrations(0–1400 mg·L-1) by using the Haldane model,which adequately describes the dynamic behavior of phenol biodegradation by strain Diaphorobacter sp. PD-7. At initial phenol concentration of 1400 mg·L-1, batch experiments(0.25 L flask) of nitrogen removal under aerobic condition gave almost entirely removal of 120.69 mg·L-1ammonium nitrogen within 75 h, while nitrate nitrogen removal reached 91% within 65 h. | 2 | The cGAS-STING signaling in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases: Future novel target option for pharmacotherapy显示文摘The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes(STING) signaling exert essential regulatory function in microbial-and onco-immunology through the induction of cytokines, primarily type I interferons. Recently, the aberrant and deranged signaling of the cGAS-STING axis is closely implicated in multiple sterile inflammatory diseases, including heart failure,myocardial infarction, cardiac hypertrophy, nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases, aortic aneurysm and dissection, obesity, etc. This is because of the massive loads of damage-associated molecular patterns(mitochondrial DNA, DNA in extracellular vesicles) liberated from recurrent injury to metabolic cellular organelles and tissues, which are sensed by the pathway. Also, the cGAS-STING pathway crosstalk with essential intracellular homeostasis processes like apoptosis, autophagy, and regulate cellular metabolism.Targeting derailed STING signaling has become necessary for chronic inflammatory diseases. Meanwhile, excessive type I interferons signaling impact on cardiovascular and metabolic health remain entirely elusive. In this review, we summarize the intimate connection between the cGAS-STING pathway and cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. We also discuss some potential small molecule inhibitors for the pathway. | 3 | A Polarized Radiative Transfer Model Based on Successive Order of Scattering显示文摘Based on Successive Order of Scattering approach, a full Vector Radiative Transfer model (SOSVRT) for vertically inhomogeneous plane-parallel media has been developed. To overcome the computational burdens of convergence, a simple approximation technique by truncating scattering orders with a geometric series is used to reduce computational time. Analytical Fourier decomposition of phase matrix with three symmetry relationships and two mutual inverse operators have been implemented to further improve the computational efficiency. To improve the accuracy, a post-processing procedure is implemented to accurately interpolate the Stokes vector at arbitrary angles. Comparisons with the benchmarks for an atmosphere of randomly orientated oblate spheroids show excellent agreement for each Stokes parameter (within 0.1%). SOSVRT has been tested for different atmospheric condition against RT3, which is based on doubling-adding method, and the results prove that SOSVRT is accurate and much more efficient in vector radiative transfer modeling, especially for optical thin atmosphere, which is the most common case in polarized radiative transfer simulations. | 4 | Meso-scale circulation at the intermediate-depth east of Mindanao observed by Argo profiling floats显示文摘The meso-scale circulation at the intermediate depth east of Mindanao is studied using Argo profiling floats observations. The trajectories and the parking-depth velocities of Argo floats show that the intermediate-depth circulation east of Mindanao contains significant meso-scale features that are highly variable both in space and in time. Both cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies at the intermediate depth (1000–2000 m) are indicated by the trajectories east of Mindanao. The mean tangential velocities of these eddies are about 10 cm/s at 2000 m and over 20 cm/s at 1000 m, which indicates that the geostrophic calculation may contain large errors due to the vigorous eddy activity at the reference levels. | 6 | Differential game strategy in three-player evasion and pursuit scenarios显示文摘A conflict of three players, including an attacker, a defender, and a target with bounded control is discussed based on the differential game theories in which the target and the defender use an optimal pursuit strategy. The current approach chooses the miss distance as the outcome of the conflict. Different optimal guidance laws are investigated, and feasible conditions are analyzed for the attacker to accomplish an attacking task. For some given conditions, the attacker cannot intercept the target by only using a one-to-one optimal pursuit guidance law; thus, a guidance law for the attacker to reach a critical safe value is investigated.Specifically, the guidance law is divided into two parts. Before the engagement time between the defender and the attacker, the attacker uses this derived guidance law to guarantee that the evasion distance from the defender is safe, and that the zero-effort-miss(ZEM) distance between the attacker and the target is the smallest.After that engagement time, the attacker uses the optimal one-toone guidance law to accomplish the pursuit task. | 7 | Zacopride selectively activates the Kir2.1 channel via a PKA signaling pathway in rat cardiomyocytes显示文摘We recently reported that zacopride is a selective inward rectifier potassium current (IK1 ) channel agonist, suppressing ventricular arrhythmias without affecting atrial arrhythmias. The present study aimed to investigate the unique pharmacological properties of zacopride. The whole-cell patch-clamp technique was used to study IK1 currents in rat atrial myocytes and Kir2.x currents in human embryonic kidney (HEK)-293 cells transfected with inward rectifier potassium channel (Kir)2.1, Kir2.2, Kir2.3, or mutated Kir2.1 (at phosphorylation site S425L). Western immunoblots were performed to estimate the relative protein expression levels of Kir2.x in rat atria and ventricles. Results showed that zacopride did not affect the IK1 and transmembrane potential of atrial myocytes. In HEK293 cells, zacopride increased Kir2.1 homomeric channels by 40.7%±9.7% at 50 mV, but did not affect Kir2.2 and Kir2.3 homomeric channels, and Kir2.1-Kir2.2, Kir2.1-Kir2.3 and Kir2.2-Kir2.3 heteromeric channels. Western immunoblots showed that similar levels of Kir2.3 protein were expressed in rat atria and ventricles, but atrial Kir2.1 protein level was only 25% of that measured in the ventricle. In addition, 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) 3 receptor was undetectable, whereas 5-HT 4 receptor was weakly expressed in HEK293 cells. The Kir2.1-activating effect of zacopride in these cells was abolished by inhibition of protein kinase A (PKA), but not PKC or PKG. | 8 | The three-dimensional structure and seasonal variation of the North Pacific meridional overturning circulation显示文摘The three-dimensional structure and the seasonal variation of the North Pacific meridional overturning circulation (NPMOC) are analyzed based on the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation data and Argo profiling float data.The NPMOC displays a multi-cell structure with four cells in the North Pacific altogether.The TC and the STC are a strong clockwise meridional cell in the low latitude ocean and a weaker clockwise meridional cell between 7°N and 18°N,respectively, while the DTC and the subpolar cell are a weaker anticlockwise meridional cell between 3°N and 15°N and a weakest anticlockwise meridional cell between 35°N and 50°N,respectively. The DTC,the TC and the STC are all of very strong seasonal variations.As to the DTC, the southward transport is strongest in fall and weakest in spring.For the TC,the northward transport is strongest in winter and weakest in spring,while the southward transport is strongest in fall and weakest in spring, which is associated with the strong southward flow of the DTC in fall.As the STC,the northward transport is strongest in winter and weakest in summer,while the southward transport is strongest in summer and weakest in spring. | 9 | The study on seasonal characteristics of water masses in the western East China Sea shelf area显示文摘On the basis of the CTD data and the modeling results in the winter and summer of 2009, the seasonal characteristics of the water masses in the western East China Sea shelf area were analyzed using a cluster analysis method. The results show that the distributions and temperature-salinity characteristics of the water masses in the study area are of distinct seasonal difference. In the western East China Sea shelf area, there are three water masses during winter, i.e., continental coastal water(CCW), Taiwan Warm Current surface water(TWCSW) and Yellow Sea mixing water(YSMW), but four ones during summer, i.e., the CCW, the TWCSW, Taiwan Warm Current deep water(TWCDW) and the YSMW. Of all, the CCW, the TWCSW and the TWCDW are all dominant water masses. The CCW, primarily characterized by a low salinity, has lower temperature, higher salinity and smaller spatial extent in winter than in summer. The TWCSW is warmer, fresher and smaller in summer than in winter, and it originates mostly from the Kuroshio surface water(KSW) northeast of Taiwan, China and less from the Taiwan Strait water during winter, but it consists of the strait water and the KSW during summer. This review concludesthe recent development of graphene/polymer composites by using graphene as fillers to improve thethermal conductivity and EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). The structure of graphene embedded inthe composites varies from zero-dimension (0D), one-dimension (1D) to two-dimensions (2D). The problem is formulated as a game among three players, an Attacker, a Defender, and a Target, with bounded controls. In the considered pursuit–evasion problem, the Target uses an optimal evasion strategy and the Defender uses an optimal pursuit strategy.The proposed approach focuses on the miss distance as the outcome of the conflict. The infeasible region for the initial Zero-Effort-Miss(ZEM) distance between the Attacker and the Defender, for a scenario in which the Attacker evades the Defender, is analyzed, assuming that the Attacker uses a control effort chosen from the permitted control region. The sufficient conditions are investigated under which, for ideal players, the Attacker can pursue the Target while evading the Defender launched by the Target. The guidance provided on how the Attacker can accomplish the task is divided into two parts. During the final time between the Attacker and the Defender, the Attacker chooses the control effort that guarantees the miss distance, and then uses the optimal pursuit strategy to accomplish the task. | 15 | Prediction of the trajectory of the manned spacecraft SHENZHOU-7 deploying a parachute based on a fine wind field显示文摘Given that horizontal wind plays an important role in predicting the trajectory of the manned spacecraft SHENZHOU-7 when employing a parachute, the China Meteorological Administration conducted an experiment involving high-resolution wind ob servation, analysis and prediction between September 21 and 28, 2008. In this work, an algorithm for tracking a spacecraft de ploying a parachute is studied. High-resolution wind profiles obtained from a numerical weather model, upper-atmosphere soundings and mobile incoherent Doppler wind lidar are compared. Forward and backward trajectory predictions based on various wind profiles, as well as their differences, are presented. In addition, the trajectory of SHENZHOU-7 is predicted using different wind profiles, and the predicted parachute-opening and landing points are compared with the observed points. The chemical solutions of sodium hypochlorite(NaClO) and sodium hydroxide(NaOH) were chosen at the concentration of 5000 mg/L. The equivalence of 5 and 10 years was respectively selected as the time of aging. The physicochemical evolutions of membrane aging are characterized on the base of morphology analysis, chemical components, permeation ability and mechanical properties. The aging of NIPS-PVDF membrane led to the elimination of surface hydrophilic additives, while NaO H focused on the dehydrofluorination process resulting in the formation of conjugated chains of polyene on the skeleton structure. The chemical components of the surface of TIPS-PVDF membrane were removed continuously during the aging processes of both NaClO and NaOH, which was caused by the saponification of surface additives and the chain scissions of skeleton structure, but without producing any obvious conjugated chains of polyene. All the aging processes led to the increase of contact angle and the decrease of mechanical properties, and the permeability was reduced first and increased later due to the enlargement of surface membrane pores and membrane block. With the influence of membrane aging, selectivity of membrane was decreased(except coliform bacteria). | 19 | Hybridization of metal–organic framework and monodisperse spherical silica for chromatographic separation of xylene isomers显示文摘Metal–organic frameworks(MOFs) packed in the column have been a promising candidate as the stationary phase for high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). However, the direct packing of irregular MOF powder could raise some problems like high back pressure and low column efficiency in the HPLC separation. In this work, UiO-66 capable of separating xylenes was supported effectively on the surface of the monodisperse spherical silica microspheres by one-pot method. The hybridization of Ui O-66 and silica microspheres(termed UiO-66@SiO2 shell–core composite) was prepared by stirring the suspension of the precursors of Ui O-66 and\\COOH terminated silica in the N,N-dimethylformamide with heating. The shell–core composite material UiO66@SiO2 was characterized by SEM, TEM, PXRD and FTIR. Then, it was used as a packing material for the chromatographic separation of xylene isomers. Xylene isomers including o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene were efficiently separated on the column with high resolution and good reproducibility. Moreover, the Ui O-66@SiO2 shell–core composites packed column still remained reverse shape selectivity as Ui O-66 possessed, and the retention of xylenes was probably ascribed to the hydrophobic effect between analytes and the aromatic rings of the Ui O-66 shell. | 20 | Interannual variability in the Mindanao Eddy and its impact on thermohaline structure pattern显示文摘The major feature,interannual variability and variation cause of the Mindanao Eddy and its impact on the thermohaline structure are analyzed based on the Argo profiling float data,the history observed data and the SODA data.The analysis results show that the Mindanao Eddy is a permanent cyclonic meso-scale eddy and spreads vertically from about 500 m depth upward do about 50 m depth.In addition to its strong seasonal variability,the Mindanao Eddy displays a remarkable interannual variability associated with ENSO.It strengthens and expands eastward during El Nin o while it weakens and retreats westward during La Nin a.The interannual variability in the Mindanao Eddy may be caused by the North Equatorial Counter Current,the North Equatorial Current,the Mindanao Current and the Indonesian Through Flow.The eddy variability can have a great influence on the thermohaline structure pattern in the local upper ocean.When the eddy is strong,the cold and low salinity water inside the eddy moves violently upward from deep layer,the thermocline depth greatly shoals,and the subsurface high salinity water largely decreases,with the upper mixed layer becoming thinner,and vice versa. | ZHANG Qilong ZHOU Hui LIU Hongwei | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,6: | 4 |
