| 3 | The D253N Mutation in the Polymerase Basic 2 Gene in Avian Influenza(H9N2) Virus Contributes to the Pathogenesis of the Virus in Mammalian Hosts显示文摘Mutations in the polymerase basic 2(PB2) gene of avian influenza viruses are important signatures for their adaptation to mammalian hosts. Various adaptive mutations have been identified around the 627 and nuclear localization sequence(NLS) domains of PB2 protein, and these mutations contribute to the replicative ability of avian influenza viruses.However, few studies have focused on adaptive mutations in other regions of PB2. In this study, we investigated the functional roles of the D253N mutation in PB2 in an H9N2 virus. This mutation was found to affect an amino acid residue in the middle domain of the PB2 protein. The virus with the D253N mutation showed higher polymerase activity and transiently increased viral replication in human cells. However, the mutant did not show significant differences in viral replication in the respiratory tract of mice upon infection. | 4 | Design and fabrication of computer-generated holograms for testing optical freeform surfaces显示文摘Freeform optical surfaces (FOSs) will be the best elements in the design of compact optical systems in the future. However, it is extremely difficult to measure freeform surface with sufficient accuracy, which impedes the development of the freeform surface. The design and fabrication of computer-generated hologram (CGH) , which has been successfully applied to the tests for aspheric surfaces, cannot be directly adopted to test FOSs due to their non-rotational asymmetry. A novel ray tracing planning method combined with successively optimizing even and odd power coefficients of phase polynomials in turn is proposed, which can successfully design a non-rotational asymmetry CGH for the tests of FOSs with an F-θ lens. A new eight-step fabrication process is also presented aiming to solve the problem that the linewidth on the same circle of the CGH for testing freeform surface is not uniform. This problem cannot be solved in the original procedure of CGH fabrication. | 10 | The aging burden of hospitalization for heart failure in Chinese populations:evidence from the Macao Heart Failure Study显示文摘Objective To assess the aging burden of hospitalization for heart failure in Chinese populations in Macao.Methods The Macao Heart Failure Study consists of patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute heart failure(AHF)at Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário(the only public hospital that provides medical care for the approximately 600,000 residents of Macao)from January 2014 to December 2016.First,we investigated the relationship between socioeconomic development and epidemiological characteristics of HF in Macao.Then we assessed the patients’clinical features and outcomes according to the age groups.Results A total of 967 patients were included in the final analysis.The median age at admission was 82 years old.The advanced age at the admission of HF in Macao was significantly associated with a high-income level and the aging population structure.Marked heterogeneity existed in the epidemiological characteristics,clinical features,utilization of evidence-based therapies,short-and long-term outcomes,and prognostic utility of clinical variables among the different age groups.Conclusion Rapid economic development and significantly aging populations have produced a profound impact on the epidemiological characteristics of HF in Chinese populations.Acute decompensated heart failure(ADHF)is predominantly a disease of the elderly in Macao,and a significant heterogeneity exists in the clinical features,managements,and outcomes among different age groups.Age-based risk stratification models and multidisciplinary HF teams are urgently needed to improve the management and outcomes of hospitalized heart failure(HHF)patients. | Zhi-Nan LU Mario Evora Edmundo Lao Man Ieng Pun Weng Hong Pun Monica Pon Kong Chu Pui I Ieong Toi-Meng Mok Yong-Jian WU | 2020 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2020，17，9： | 2 |
