| 1 | Biochar amendments and its impact on soil biota for sustainable agriculture显示文摘Beneficial microbes in soil biota are known to enhance plant growth by stimulating the nutrient supply and by devising certain mechanisms to cope up with the biotic(diseases)or abiotic(salinity, drought, and pollution)stresses.Owing to their effectiveness and sustainability concerns, the application of microbes in the agricultural sector has seen a positive surge recently.Biochar has been commended as an exemplary carrier material for beneficial microbes in the soil ecosystem.Biochar is generally produced from the waste biomasses, which not only resolve the management crisis of agricultural wastes but also render many benefits such as enhancement of soil properties, alteration of nutritional dynamics, removal of pollutants, and in the stimulation of beneficial microbial diversity in soil. The strategic application of biochar in agricultural land could help provide agronomic, economic, and environmental benefits.Since certain risks are associated with the application of biochar, attention needs to be paid while preferring for soil amendments. This present review focused on highlighting the role of microbes in plant growth. The influence of biochar on soil biota along with its detailed mechanisms was discussed further to delineate the scope of biochar in soil amendments.Further, the risks associated with the biochar amendments and the future perspectives in this research arena were highlighted. | Abhijeet Pathy Jyotiprakash Ray Balasubramanian Paramasivan | 2020 | Biochar2020,2,3: | 5 |
| 2 | 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D_(3) prevents DNA damage and restores antioxidant enzymes in rat hepatocarcinogenesis induced by diethylnitrosamine and promoted by phenobarbital显示文摘AIM:To investigate the chemopreventive iffects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in diethylnitrosamine induced, phenobarbital promoted rat hepatocarcinogenesis.METHODS:The rats were randomly divided into 6 different groups(A-F).Group A,C and E rats received a single intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) at a dose of 200 mg/kg body mass in 9 g/L NaCl solution at 4 wk of age ,while group B served as normal vehicle control received normal saline once. After a brief recovery of 2 WK, all the DEN treated rats were given phenobarbital (PB) at 0.5g/L daily in the basal diet till WK 20.Group C was started 4 wk prior to DEN injection and continued thereafter till wk 20 at a dose (os) twice a week.Group E received the treatment of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 at the same dose mentioned as above for 15 wk.The rats in group D and F received 1α,25-(OH)2D3 alone as in group C without DEN injection.RESULTS:The comet assay showed statistically higher mean values for length to width ratios (L:W) of DNA mass and tailed cells (p<0.01;p<0.01 respectively) in DEN treated rats as compared to their normal controls.Continuous supplementation of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3 showed a significant (p<0.01) decrease in L:W ratio of DNA mass tailed cells.Furthermore,1α,25-(OH)2D3 supplementations elevated the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activety, hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levle, reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activety (p<0.01,p<0.01,p<0.05 and p<0.05 respectively). As an endpoint marker histological changes were observed to establish the chemopreventive effects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3.CONCLUSION:Supplementations of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 has a marked protection against hepatic nodelogenesis, antioxidant enzymes and DNA damages in DEN induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis promoted by phenobarbital. | Mahendrakumar Chandrasekharappa Banakar Suresh Kanna Paramasivan Mitali Basu Chattopadhyay Subrata Datta Prabir Chakraborty Malay Chatterjee Kalaiselvi Kannan Elayaraja Thygarajan | 2004 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2004,10,9: | 5 |

| 20 | Nanozymes in Point-of-Care Diagnosis:An Emerging Futuristic Approach for Biosensing显示文摘Nanomaterial-based artificial enzymes(or nanozymes) have attracted great attention in the past few years owing to their capability not only to mimic functionality but also to overcome the inherent drawbacks of the natural enzymes.Numerous advantages of nanozymes such as diverse enzyme-mimicking activities, low cost, high stability, robustness, unique surface chemistry, and ease of surface tunability and biocompatibility have allowed their integration in a wide range of biosensing applications. Several metal, metal oxide, metal–organic framework-based nanozymes have been exploited for the development of biosensing systems, which present the potential for point-of-care analysis. To highlight recent progress in the field,in this review, more than 260 research articles are discussed systematically with suitable recent examples, elucidating the role of nanozymes to reinforce, miniaturize, and improve the performance of point-of-care diagnostics addressing the ASSURED(a ordable,sensitive,specific,user-friendly,rapid and robust,equipment-free and deliverable to the end user) criteria formulated by World Health Organization. The review reveals that many biosensing strategies such as electrochemical, colorimetric, fluorescent, and immunological sensors required to achieve the ASSURED standards can be implemented by using enzyme-mimicking activities of nanomaterials as signal producing components. However, basic system functionality is still lacking. Since the enzyme-mimicking properties of the nanomaterials are dictated by their size, shape, composition, surface charge, surface chemistry as well as external parameters such as pH or temperature, these factors play a crucial role in the design and function of nanozyme-based point-of-care diagnostics. Therefore,it requires a deliberate exertion to integrate various parameters for truly ASSURED solutions to be realized. This review also discusses possible limitations and research gaps to provide readers a brief scenario of the emerging role of nanozymes in state-of-the-art POC diagnosis system development for futuristic biosensing applications. | Bhaskar Das Javier Lou Franco Natasha Logan Paramasivan Balasubramanian Moon Il Kim Cuong Cao | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,12: | 1 |
