| 1 | Use of butyrate or glutamine in enema solution reduces inflammation and fibrosis in experimental diversion colitis显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether butyrate or glutamine enemas could diminish inflammation in experimental diversion colitis.METHODS:Wistar specific pathogen-free rats were submitted to a Hartmann's end colostomy and treated with enemas containing glutamine,butyrate,or saline.Enemas were administered twice a week in the excluded segment of the colon from 4 to 12 wk after the surgical procedure.Follow-up colonoscopy was performed every 4 wk for 12 wk.The effect of treatment was evaluated using video-endoscopic and histologic scores and measuring interleukin-1β,tumor necrosis factor-alpha,and transforming growth factor beta production in organ cultures by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Colonoscopies of the diverted segment showed mucosa with hyperemia,increased number of vessels,bleeding and mucus discharge.Treatment with either glutamine or butyrate induced significant reductions in both colonoscopic(P < 0.02) and histological scores(P < 0.01) and restored the densities of collagen fibers in tissue(P = 0.015;P = 0.001),the number of goblet cells(P = 0.021;P = 0.029),and the rate of apoptosis within the epithelium(P = 0.043;P = 0.011) to normal values.The high levels of cytokines in colon explants from rats with diversion colitis significantly decreased to normal values after treatment with butyrate or glutamine.CONCLUSION:The improvement of experimental diversion colitis following glutamine or butyrate enemas highlights the importance of specific luminal nutrients in the homeostasis of the colonic mucosa and supports their utilization for the treatment of human diversion colitis. | Rodrigo Goulart Pacheco Christiano Costa Esposito Lucas CM Müller Morgana TL Castelo-Branco Leonardo Pereira Quintella Vera Lucia A Chagas Heitor Siffert P de Souza Alberto Schanaider | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，32： | 9 |
| 2 | Current aspects of renal dysfunction after liver transplantation显示文摘The development of chronic kidney disease(CKD)after liver transplantation(LT)exerts a severe effect on the survival of patients.The widespread adoption of the model for end-stage liver disease score strongly impacted CKD incidence after the procedure,as several patients are transplanted with previously deteriorated renal function.Due to its multifactorial nature,encompassing pre-transplantation conditions,perioperative events,and nephrotoxic immunosuppressor therapies,the accurate identification of patients under risk of renal disease,and the implementation of preventive approaches,are extremely important.Methods for the evaluation of renal function in this setting range from formulas that estimate the glomerular filtration rate,to non-invasive markers,although no option has yet proved efficient in early detection of kidney injury.Considering the nephrotoxicity of calcineurin inhibitors(CNI)as a factor of utmost importance after LT,early nephroprotective strategies are highly recommended.They are based mainly on delaying the application of CNI during the immediate postoperativeperiod,reducing their dosage,and associating them with other less nephrotoxic drugs,such as mycophenolate mofetil and everolimus.This review provides a critical assessment of the causes of renal dysfunction after LT,the methods of its evaluation,and the interventions aimed at preserving renal function early and belatedly after LT. | Mariana P Pacheco Luiz Augusto Carneiro-D'Albuquerque Daniel F Mazo | 2022 | World Journal of Hepatology2022，14，1： | 5 |
| 3 | META-R:A software to analyze data from multi-environment plant breeding trials显示文摘META-R(multi-environment trial analysis in R)is a suite of R scripts linked by a graphical user interface(GUI)designed in Java language.The objective of META-R is to accurately analyze multi-environment plant breeding trials(METs)by fitting mixed and fixed linear models from experimental designs such as the randomized complete block design(RCBD)and the alpha-lattice/lattice designs.META-R simultaneously estimates the best linear and unbiased estimators(BLUEs)and the best linear and unbiased predictors(BLUPs).Additionally,it computes the variance-covariance parameters,as well as some statistical and genetic parameters such as the least significant difference(LSD)at 5%significance,the coefficient of variation in percentage(CV),the genetic variance,and the broad-sense heritability.These parameters are very important in the selection of top performing genotypes in plant breeding.META-R also computes the phenotypic and genetic correlations among environments and between traits,as well as their statistical significance.The genetic correlations between environments or traits can be visualized in a biplot graph or a tree diagram(dendrogram).Genetic correlations are very important for identifying environments with similar behavior or making indirect selection and identifying the most highly associated traits.META-R performs multi-environment analyses by using the residual maximum likelihood(REML)method;these analyses can be done by environment,across environments by grouping factors(stress conditions,nitrogen content,etc.)and across environments;the analyses across environments can be done with a pre-defined degree of heritability. | Gregorio Alvarado Francisco M.Rodríguez Angela Pacheco Juan Burgueño JoséCrossa Mateo Vargas Paulino Pérez-Rodríguez Marco A.Lopez-Cruz | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020，8，5： | 4 |
