Invasive mechanism and control strategy of Ageratina adenophora (Sprengel)显示文摘In order to ascertain the invasive mechanism and control strategy of the invasive Crofton weed, Ageratina adenophora, its ecological adaptability and population differentiation, the formation of single dominant population, displacement of native plants and sustainable management strategies were investigated. The present results helped to clarify and explain such issues as the adaptability post invasion, interaction and competition between inter-and intra-species and community resistance, thereby providing important references to researches on other invasive alien species. | WAN FangHao1, LIU WanXue1, GUO JianYing1, QIANG Sheng2, LI BaoPing2, WANG JinJun3, YANG GuoQing1, NIU HongBang1, GUI FuRong1, HUANG WenKun1, JIANG ZhiLin1 & WANG WenQi3 1State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests, Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100193, China 2College of Plant Protection, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing 210095, China 3Key Laboratory of Entomology and Pest Control Engineering, College of Plant Protection, Southwest University, Chongqing 400716, China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,11: | 42
Fuzzy interface treatment in Eulerian method显示文摘In this paper, we incorporate fuzzy mathematics approach into the Eulerian method to simulate three dimensional multi-material interfaces. In particular, we propose a fuzzy interface treatment for describing interfaces, designing transport plans, and computing transport quantities. Using a set of three-dimensional inviscid isothermal elastic-plastic hydrodynamic equations, we simulate shaped charge jet in different filled dynamite structures. Strain and stress have been under consideration in simulations. Numerical results demonstrate that the fuzzy interface treatment is correct and efficient for three-dimensional multi-material problems. | NING Jianguo1 & CHEN Longwei1,2 1. | 3 | Invasive mechanism and management strategy of Bemisia tabaci(Gennadius) biotype B:Progress report of 973 Program on invasive alien species in China显示文摘Bemisia tabaci(Gennadius) biotype B,called a 'superbug',is one of the most harmful biotypes of this species complex worldwide. In this report, the invasive mechanism and management of B.tabaci biotype B,based on our 5-year studies, are presented.Six B.tabaci biotypes,B,Q,ZHJ1,ZHJ2,ZHJ3 and FJ1,have been identified in China.Biotype B dominates the other biotypes in many regions of the country.Genetic diversity in biotype B might be induced by host plant, geographical conditions,and/or insecticidal application. The activities of CarE(carboxylesterase) and GSTs(glutathione-S-transferase) in biotype B reared on cucumber and squash were greater than on other host plants, which might have increased its resistance to insecticides. The higher activities of detoxification enzymes in biotype B might be induced by the secondary metabolites in host plants.Higher adaptive ability of biotype B adults to adverse conditions might be linked to the expression of heat shock protein genes. The indigenous B.tabaci biotypes were displaced by the biotype B within 225 d.The asymmetric mating interactions and mutualism between biotype B and begomoviruses via its host plants speed up widespread invasion and displacement of other biotypes.B.tabaci biotype B displaced Trialeurodes vaporariorum(Westwood) after 4-7 generations under glasshouse conditions.Greater adaptive ability of the biotype B to adverse conditions and its rapid population increase might be the reasons of its successful displacement of T.vaporariorum.Greater ability of the biotype B to switch to different host plants may enrich its host plants, which might enable it to better compete with T.vaporariorum.Native predatory natural enemies possess greater ability to suppress B.tabaci under field conditions. The kairomones in the 3rd and 4th instars of biotype B may provide an important stimulus in host searching and location by its parasitoids. The present results provide useful information in explaining the mechanisms of genetic diversity, evolution and molecular eco-adaptation of biotype B.Furthermore,it provides a base for sustainable management of B.tabaci using biological and ecological measures. | WAN FangHao1,ZHANG GuiFen1,LIU ShuSheng2,LUO Chen3,CHU Dong4,ZHANG YouJun4,ZANG LianSheng2,JIU Min2,Lü ZhiChuang1,CUI XuHong1,ZHANG LiPing4,ZHANG Fan3,ZHANG QingWen5,LIU WanXue1,LIANG Pei5,LEI ZhongRen1 & ZHANG YongJun1 1 State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests,Institute of Plant Protection,Chinese Acadeny of Agriculture Sciences,Beijing 100094,China 2 Institute of Applied Entomology,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310029,China 3 Institute of Plant and Environment Protection,Beijing Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences,Beijing 100089,China 4 Institute of Vegetables and Flowers,Chinese Acadeny of Agricullare Sciences,Beijing 100081,China 5 Department of Entomology,China Agriculture University,Beijing 100094,China | 2009 | Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,1: | 30
Dissimilatory Fe(Ⅲ) reduction characteristics of paddy soil extract cultures treated with glucose or fatty acids显示文摘Dissimilatory Fe(Ⅲ) reduction is a universal process with irreplaceable biological and environmental importance in anoxic environments. Our knowledge about Fe(Ⅲ) reduction predominantly comes from pure cultures of dissimilatory Fe(Ⅲ) reducing bacteria (DFRB). The objective of this study was to compare the effects of glucose and a selection of short organic acids (citrate, succinate, pyruvate, propionate, acetate, and formate) on Fe(Ⅲ) reduction via the anaerobic culture of three paddy soil solutions with Fe(OH)3 as the sole electron acceptor. The results showed significant differences in Fe(Ⅲ) reduction among the three paddy soil solutions and substrate types. Bacteria from the Sichuan paddy soil responded quickly to substrate supply and showed higher Fe(Ⅲ) reducing activity than the other two soil types. Bacteria in the Jiangxi paddy soil culture solution could not use propionate as a source of electrons for Fe(Ⅲ) reduction. Similarly, bacteria in the Jilin paddy soil culture could not use succinate effectively. Pyruvate was readily used by cultures from all three paddy soil solutions, thus indicating that there were some similarities in substrate utilization by bacteria for Fe(Ⅲ) reduction. The use of glucose and citrate as substrate for dissimilatory Fe(Ⅲ) reduction indicates important ecological implications for this type of anoxic respiration. | HE Jiangzhou1,2, QU Dong1, 1. | 5 | OXIDATION OF A TWO-PHASE Cu-75Cr ALLOY IN AIRAT 700-900℃显示文摘The cormsion in air of a two-phase Cu-75Cr alloy was studied at 700-900℃. Thealloy cormded nearly parabolically at 700-800℃, but at 900℃ its instantaneousparabolic mte constant decreased with time. The scales were complex and consistedof an outermost layer of copper oxide generally followed bg a layer of the double ox-ide Cu2 Cr2 O4 sometimes containing particles of unoxidized chromium surmunded bya chromia layer. An innermost layer of chromia was also observed in some cases. Finally metallic copper was al8o frequently mixed with chromia particles. No Cr de-pletion was observed in the alloy close to the inteffoce with the scale. In any case, this alloy was not able to form an exclusive continuous protective chromia layer. Thespecial cormsion behavior Of this alloy is typical of two-phase binary systems with alange solubility gaP in which the outwaof dthesion fiux of the most-reactive componentin the alloy is strongly reduced and may be inswncient to fOrm a protective externallayer of the cormsponding oxide. In paTticular, the presence of particles of Cr withina double oxide layer is very unusual and is allowed only for the kinetic reason. | F. Gesmundo Y Niu F. Vianiand D.L. | 8 | Object-oriented land cover classification using HJ-1 remote sensing imagery显示文摘The object-oriented information extraction technique was used to improve classification accuracy, and addressed the problem that HJ-1 CCD remote sensing images have only four spectral bands with moderate spatial resolution. We used two key techniques:the selection of optimum image segmentation scale and the development of an appropriate object-oriented information extraction strategy. With the principle of minimizing merge cost of merging neighboring pixels/objects,we used spatial autocorrelation index Moran's I and the variance index to select the optimum segmentation scale. The Nearest Neighborhood(NN) classifier based on sampling and a knowledge-based fuzzy classifier were used in the object-oriented information extraction strategy. In this classification step, feature optimization was used to improve information extraction accuracy using reduced data dimension. These two techniques were applied to land cover information extraction for Shanghai city using a HJ-1 CCD image. Results indicate that the information extraction accuracy of the object-oriented method was much higher than that of the pixel-based method. | SUN ZhongPing1,SHEN WenMing1,WEI Bin1,LIU XiaoMan1,SU Wei2,ZHANG Chao2 & YANG JianYu2 1 Satellite Environment Center,Ministry of Environmental Protection,Beijing 100094,China 2 College of Information and Electrical Engineering,China Agricultural University,Beijing 100083,China | 2010 | Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,S1: | 15

Up to now, however, all the studies are limited to the mechanical systems with ideal bilateral constraints. This note further studies the Lie symmetries of mechanical systems with unilateral holonomic constraints, and two problems of Lie symmetries for the systems are put forward and solved, i.e. finding the conserved quantity from a Lie symmetric transformation of the system and finding the corresponding Liesymmetry from an integral of the systemi ? 梛 ? | 13 | CORROSION MONITORING OF LY12 IN SODIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION WITH ELECTROCHEMICAL NOISE TECHNIQUE显示文摘Spontaneous electrochemical noise (EN) can be a rich source of information concerning the processes simultaneously occurring on a corroding interface. But the noise signal is often difficult to be analyzed due to the complicated nature of the specific systems being investigated. In this paper the potential noise fluctuations during the bee corrosion of commercial aluminum alloy LY12 in sodium chloride solution was recorded and analyzed with different techniques. The typical results showed that the fractal dimension (Dn) obtained from spectral power density (SPD) is mainly directly proportional to the intensity of pitting corrosion and to the value of pitting parameter (SE) derived hem dimensional analysis, while the fractal dimension (DE) obtained from EIS is mainly related to the uniform corrosion. | J.Q. | 14 | INFLUENCE OF NaCl DEPOSITION ON ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION OF A3 STEEL IN THE PRESENCE OF SO_2显示文摘The regularities of atmospheric corrosion of A3 steel deposited with different amountof NaCl exposed to the air containing 1ppm SO2 at 80% RH and 25℃ were studied inlaboratory. NaCl can accelerate the corrosion of A3 steel obviously under such con-dition. The relationship between the weight loss of A3 steel and the amount of NaCldeposition can be well described by using a quadratic function. Fourier transform in-frared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopyand electron dispersion X-ray analysis (SEM/EDAX) were used to characterize thecorrosion products. | 15 | Formation, distribution and risk control of landslides in China显示文摘China is a country with a large population as well as frequent landslides. The formation and distribution of landslides in China are determined by its special topography, complex geological environment, active earthquake environment and unusual climate features. This paper analyzes the main features and distribution of 200 catastrophic landslides that occurred in China since 1900. The relationships among the distribution of landslides and topographic conditions, geological structure, climate features and strong earthquake environment are analyzed. The features of landslide-triggering factors and critical conditions in different areas have also been considered. Based on the above-mentioned work, the authors have undertaken the studies of landslide susceptibility assessment. The study is performed according to the topographic and geological features, which are the main triggering factors that affect the landslides. The China's Mainland can be divided into 12 zones, including 4 high susceptibility zones, 7 medium susceptibility zones and 1 low susceptibility zone, according to landslide proneness. Considering the number of life loss and extent of property loss caused by landslides in those 12 zones, the risk evaluation results are listed as follows: 2 extremely high-risk zones, 5 high-risk zones, 2 medium-risk zones and 3 low-risk zones. Taking the number of life loss caused by landslides as the standard of risk level, the paper also analyzes the change in landslide risk level and main risk control measures in China since 1990s. Based on the risk level of landslides in other countries or regions, the acceptable landslide risk level in China has been proposed. | Runqiu Huang, Weile Li State Key Laboratory of Geohazards Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection, Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu, 610059, China | 2011 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,2: | 13 |
Characterizing and estimating rice brown spot disease severity using stepwise regression, principal component regression and partial least-square regression显示文摘Detecting plant health conditions plays a key role in farm pest management and crop protection. In this study, measurement of hyperspectral leaf reflectance in rice crop (Oryzasativa L.) was conducted on groups of healthy and infected leaves by the fungus Bipolaris oryzae (Helminthosporium oryzae Breda. de Hann) through the wavelength range from 350 to 2 500 nm. The percentage of leaf surface lesions was estimated and defined as the disease severity. Statistical methods like multiple stepwise regression, principal component analysis and partial least-square regression were utilized to calculate and estimate the disease severity of rice brown spot at the leaf level. Our results revealed that multiple stepwise linear regressions could efficiently estimate disease severity with three wavebands in seven steps. The root mean square errors (RMSEs) for training (n=210) and testing (n=53) dataset were 6.5% and 5.8%, respectively. Principal component analysis showed that the first principal component could explain approximately 80% of the variance of the original hyperspectral reflectance. The regression model with the first two principal components predicted a disease severity with RMSEs of 16.3% and 13.9% for the training and testing dataset, respec-tively. Partial least-square regression with seven extracted factors could most effectively predict disease severity compared with other statistical methods with RMSEs of 4.1% and 2.0% for the training and testing dataset, respectively. Our research demon-strates that it is feasible to estimate the disease severity of rice brown spot using hyperspectral reflectance data at the leaf level. | LIU Zhan-yu1, HUANG Jing-feng1, SHI Jing-jing1, TAO Rong-xiang2, ZHOU Wan3, ZHANG Li-li3 (1Institute of Agriculture Remote Sensing and Information System Application, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310029, China) (2Institute of Plant Protection and Microbiology, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hangzhou 310021, China) (3Plant Inspection Station of Hangzhou City, Hangzhou 310020, China) | 2007 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2007,8,10: | 13

Electrochemical Corrosion Behavior of Nanocrystalline Materials-a Review显示文摘Nanocrystallization significantly infiuences the electrochemical corrosion behaviors of metals/alloys in liquid system. In active dissolution, nanocrystallization accelerates the corrosion reactions. If the corrosion products are dissoluble, the corrosion rate is increased by nanocrystallization; if the corrosion products are insoluble, the corrosion rate is decreased on the contrary because the corrosion products act as a block layer to delay the dissolution. In passivation, nanocrystallization changes the composition of the passive film, and results into different morphology and growth process of the passive film, both of which improves the formation of compact film and influences the semiconductor property. It influences the passivation depending on fast element diffusion and special adsorbed ability. The small grain size improves the element diffusion, which leads to the different composition of passive film (passive elements enrichment such as Cr, Ti). The small grain size also changes the surface condition, which influences the ions adsorption. All increase the corrosion resistance of materials. In local corrosion, nanocrystallization increases the unstable points on the surface of the materials, which increases the possibility of local corrosion. However, the excellent ability of element diffusion helps heal the local corrosion points, which inhibits the growth of the local corrosion. | Li Liu, Ying Li and Fuhui Wang State Key Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenyang 110016, China | 2010 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,1: | 12
Effects of Applied Magnetic Field on Corrosion of Beryllium Copper in NaCl Solution显示文摘The effects of an applied magnetic field on the corrosion process of beryllium copper in NaCl solution have been investigated by electrochemical measurements, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The results showed that a horizontal magnetic field with 0.4 T barely shifted the open circuit potentials (Ecorr) of beryllium copper in NaCl solution with different concentrations. However, the horizontal magnetic field increased the limiting current density of beryllium copper in NaCl solution with low concentration, while decreased the limiting current density of beryllium copper in NaCl solution with high concentration. It was found that magnetic field accelerated the diffusion of CuCl2- away from the electrode surface and delayed the formation of Cu2O. The results of SEM and EDS showed that the inffuence of magnetic field over the elements distribution of the corrosion products differed from the different concentration of the immersion solution. | Jing Hu, Chaofang Dong, Xiaogang Li and Kui Xiao Corrosion & Protection Center, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Key Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection of Ministry of Education, Beijing 100083, China | 2010 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,4: | 11
Cotton bollworm resistance to Bt transgenic cotton: A case analysis显示文摘Cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera) is one of the most serious insect pests of cotton. Transgenic cotton expressing Cry toxins derived from a soil bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), has been produced to target this pest. Bt cotton has been widely planted around the world, and this has resulted in efficient control of bollworm populations with reduced use of synthetic insecticides. However, evolution of resistance by this pest threatens the continued success of Bt cotton. To date, no field populations of bollworm have evolved significant levels of resistance; however, several laboratory-selected Cry-resistant strains of H. armigera have been obtained, which suggests that bollworm has the capacity to evolve resistance to Bt. The development of resistance to Bt is of great concern, and there is a vast body of research in this area aimed at ensuring the continued success of Bt cotton. Here, we review studies on the evolution of Bt resistance in H. armigera, focusing on the biochemical and molecular basis of Bt resistance. We also discuss resistance management strategies, and monitoring programs implemented in China, Australia, and India. | LIU ChenXi, LI YunHe, GAO YuLin, NING ChangMing & WU KongMing State Key Laboratory of Plant Disease and Insect Pests, Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, Beijing 100193, China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,8: | 10
