| 1 | Alternatives for large-scale production of cultured beef: A review显示文摘Cultured beef is a method where stem cells from skeletal muscle of cows are cultured in vitro to gain edible muscle tissue. For large-scale production of cultured beef, the culture technique needs to become more efficient than today's 2-dimensional(2D) standard technique that was used to make the first cultured hamburger. Options for efficient large-scale production of stem cells are to culture cells on microcarriers, either in suspension or in a packed bed bioreactor, or to culture aggregated cells in suspension. We discuss the pros and cons of these systems as well as the possibilities to use the systems for tissue culture. Either of the production systems needs to be optimized to achieve an efficient production of cultured beef. | 2 | Direct-sequence codes based blind synchronization algorithm for UWB systems显示文摘A new blind(non-data-aided) synchronization algorithm based on direct-sequence(DS) codes is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) systems.The proposed approach fully exploits prior knowledge of DS codes and bypasses channel estimation.The real-time acquisition is achieved using integrating-and-dumping(I&D) operation and DS codes matching filter.Because of pseudo randomicity and periodicity of DS codes,both the speed and the accuracy of synchronization are improved significantly. | 4 | On the bounds of frequency-selective channel capacity with doubly correlated geometrical MIMO channel model显示文摘The multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology plays an important role in link transmissions. This article considers the general case for the ergodic capacity in doubly correlated frequency-selective MIMO channel. In the study, the geometrical MIMO channel model is presented. Based on the formula of MIMO ergodic capacity, the capacity limits are studied with arbitrary finite number of antennas in the frequency-selective MIMO channel. It first derives the exact expressions for the upper bound and lower bound in doubly correlated MIMO channel. The results for the single-ended correlation and independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) MIMO channel are also obtained as special cases. Then the simple expressions of the capacity bounds are attained at high SNR. | 5 | Coexistence of broadband power line communication systems显示文摘Recent progress in home networks enhances the application of broadband power line communication (BPL) since it does not require any installation of new communication lines or outlets. However,high-density distribution of BPL devices may bring down the access quality. Besides,the electromagnetic field radiating from the power line may cause interference with other radio systems. Thus,the objective of this study is to investigate the impact of cumulative interference in BPL systems,especially focused on indoor environment. A 2-D model describing the BPL transmission activity is proposed. Based on transmission characteristics of the main networks,it takes into account the coexistence effect of the BPL devices.
