Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone in northeastern South China Sea inferred from geophysical interpretations显示文摘A segment of Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone was inferred across the northeastern South China Sea at approximately NE45° orientation. Basic evidence includes the following: A belt of peek gross horizontal Bouguer gravity gradient (PGHGBA) is comparable in size and intensity to that of the Manila subduction-accretion zone. A belt of high positive magnetic anomalies appears to the north and sub-parallel to the PGHGBA, representing the volcanic arc associated to the subduction zone. The PGHGBA crosses obliquely both Cenozoic structures and present seafloor topography, indicating a pre-Cenozoic age. The segment is offset left-laterally by NW-running strike-slip faults, in concord with the Mesozoic stress field of South China. In addition, the existence of the subduction zone is supported by wide-angle seismic data obtained in different years by different institutions. At approximate localities, a north-dipping ramp of Moho surface is indicated by records of ocean-bottom seismometers, and a strong reflector about 8 km beneath the Moho reflector is indicated by both OBS and long-cable seismic records. The identification of a segment of Mesozoic subduction zone in NE South China Sea fills nicely the gap of the Great Late Mesozoic Circum SE Asia Subduction-acrretion Zone, which extended from Sumatra, Java, SE Kalimantan to N Palawan, and from Taiwan, Ryukyu to SW Japan. | ZHOU Di1, WANG Wanyin2, WANG Jialin3, PANG Xiong4, CAI Dongsheng5 & SUN Zhen1 1. | 2 | Research on the dynamics of the South China Sea opening:Evidence from analogue modeling显示文摘Independent of Indochina extrusion, the South China Sea experienced a process from passive continental rifting to marginal sea drifting. According to the fault patterns in the Beibu Gulf basin and the Pearl River Mouth basin, the continental rifting and early spreading stage from 32 to 26 Ma were controlled by extensional stress field, which shifted clockwise from southeastward to south southeastward. From 24 Ma on, the sea spread in NW-SE direction and ceased spreading at around 15.5 Ma. Integrated geological information with the assumption that the South China Sea developed along a pre-Cenozoic weakness zone, we did analogue experiments on the South China Sea evolu- tion. Experiments revealed that the pre-existing weakness zone goes roughly along the uplift zone between the present Zhu-1 and Zhu-2 depression. The pre-existing weakness zone is composed of three segments trending NNE, roughly EW and NEE, respectively. The early opening of the South China Sea is accompanied with roughly 15° clockwise rotation, while the SE sub-sea basin opened with SE extension. Tinjar fault was the western boundary of the Nansha block (Dangerous Ground), while Lupar fault was the eastern boundary of the Indochina, NW-trending rift belt known as Zengmu basin developed between above two faults due to block divergent of Indochina from Nansha. In the experiment, transtensional flower structures along NW-trending faults are seen, and slight inversion occurs along some NE-dipping faults. The existence of rigid massifs changed the orientations of some faults and rift belt, and also led to deformation concentrate around the massifs. The rifting and drifting of the South China Sea might be caused by slab pull from the proto South China Sea subducting toward Borneo and/or mantle flow caused by India-Asia collision. | SUN Zhen1,2, ZHOU Di1, ZHONG Zhihong3, XIA Bin2, QIU Xuelin1, ZENG Zuoxun4 & JIANG Jianqun5 1. | 3 | ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar age evidence for Altyn fault tectonic activities in western China显示文摘Four 40Ar/39Ar age groups of mica, hornblende and K-feldspar were obtained from Proterozoic and early Paleozoic metamorphic rocks in the Aksay-Dangjin Pass area, western China. The samples away from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yield two plateau age groups in the range of 461—445.2 Ma and 414.9—342.8 Ma, respec-tively. They represent the tectono-thermal events that had been recorded in the rocks that were displaced by the Altyn strike-slip fault in late Ordovician-early Silurian and Devo-nian, respectively. These two age groups should be related to the closures of Northern and Southern Qilian Oceans. The deformed granitic gneiss from the northern belt gives a pla-teau age group of 178.4—137.5 Ma, which is interpreted as the active age of the Altyn fault in the middle-late Jurassic- early Cretaceous and should be related to the accretion of Lhasa block to the north. The sample from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yields two plateau ages of 36.4 and 26.3 Ma, respectively, suggesting the strike-slip move-ment with strong metamorphism at greenschist facies along the Altyn fault in the late Eocene. This event occurred in the most areas of the northern Tibet Plateau and should be in response in the north to the collision between Indian and Eurasian continents. The present study demonstrates that the Altyn fault is characterized by multiple pulse-style activi-ties under the tectonic setting of convergence between the Indian and Eurasian continents. | LIU Yongjiang1, J. | 4 | Total alkyl dibenzothiophenes content tracing the filling pathway of condensate reservoir in the Fushan Depression,South China Sea显示文摘The condensates are generally characterized by high maturity, low concentration of steranes and ter-panes biomarkers and low content of non-hydrocarbon fraction. In this case commonly used steranes, terpanes and carbazoles parameters cannot be effectively applied in the reservoir-filling tracing. The hydrogen bond formed by sulfur atom in the dibenzothiophenes (DBTs) results in molecule adsorption and fractionation during oil migration in reservoir. Like carbazoles, total DBTs content decreases with the increasing of oil migration distance. Therefore,a new parameter——total DBTs content is proposed to be used to trace the oil migration orientation and filling pathway. In present study, total DBTs con-tents of condensates and light oils are obtained by adding internal standard——eight deuterium atoms substituted DBT during Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis of aromatic fraction. Except for a few samples with much lower content of non-hydrocarbon fraction, the total DBTs content shows a fine positive correlation with that of carbazoles. Large errors can be caused in the process of pyrrolic nitrogen compounds separation. The application of this new parameter in the Fushan Depression of Beibu Gulf Basin,South China Sea indicates that this parameter is a reliable one to trace filling pathway in condensate reservoirs. Combined with other DBTs-related parameters, such as 4-/1-methydibenzo-thiophene and 2,4-/1,4-dimethyldibenzothiophene,oil migration orientation and filling pathway of the Fushan Depression was determined. The accumulations of Huachang oil field in the Fushan Depres-sion are mainly migrated and charged from northeast to southeast along the Huachang uplift. It can be predicated that the light oil and condensates in the Huachang oil field should be sourced from the source kitchen at the Bailian Sag. It shows that total DBTs content is an effective parameter to tracing oil migration orientation and filling pathway. | LI MeiJun1,WANG TieGuan1,LIU Ju2,ZHANG MeiZhu2,LU Hong3,MA QinLin2 & GAO LiHui2 1 State Key Laboratory of Petroleum Resources and Prospecting,Earth Sciences and Geoinformatics School,China University of Petroleum,Beijing 102249,China 2 Southern Oil Exploration and Development Company,PetroChina,Guangzhou 510640,China 3 Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Guangzhou 510240,China | 2008 | Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,S2: | 24
Discovery of a Late Permian Angara-Cathaysia mixed flora from Acheng of Heilongjiang,China, with discussions on the closure of the Paleoasian Ocean显示文摘This work documents a new flora from the Upper Permian Hongshan Formation of Acheng County, Heilongjiang Province, Northwest China. The flora consists of 20 species: Paracalamites sp., Pecopteris tangwangheensis Huang, Callipteris obese Huang, Callipteris shenshuensis Huang, C. tangwangheensis Huang, C. heilongjiangensis Huang, C. zeilleri Zalessky, C. sp., Comia yichunensis Huang, C. tenueaxis Huang, Iniopteris sibirica Zalessky, Supaia teiliensis Huang, Compsopteris tchirkovae Zalessky, C. cf. adzvensis Zalessky, Nilssonia sp. 1, Nil. sp. 2, Taeniopteris cf. densissima Halle, T. cf. nystraemii Halle, T. sp. and Noeggerathiopsis derzavinii Neub. It is dominated by Angara species but mixed with some typical Cathaysian elements. The age of the flora is assigned to late of the Late Permian according to the stratigraphic ranges of the known species and the comparisons of it with the similar floras. The new discovery indicates that the final collision between the North China Plate and Siberian Plate occurred in Late Permian along the Xar Moron River-Changchun-Yanji sutured zone, and the Paleoasian Ocean was finally closed at the end of the Permian. | DENG ShengHui1,2, WAN ChuanBiao3 & YANG JianGuo3 1 Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, PetroChina, Beijing 100083, China 2 State Key Laboratory of Enhanced Oil Recovery, Beijing 100083 China 3 Daqing Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, PetroChina, Daqing 164712, China | 2009 | Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,11: | 22
Geochronology of middle Neoproterozoic volcanic deposits in Yangtze Craton interior of South China and its implications to tectonic settings显示文摘Here we report new SHRIMP dating results of the crystal tuff in Ejiaao Formation of middle Banxi Group in northern Guizhou. The results indicate that the volcanic deposition occurred at ~780 Ma. We also suggests that the igneous activities across Yangtze Craton with diabase dyke swarms and basal volcanic rocks during middle Banxi time are indicative of the episodic, extensive and vigorous great bimodal igneous events during middle Neoproterozoic (825-720 Ma) in South China. The characteristics of the igneous series are contrary to the model claiming they are of island-arc origin, but suggest that they are the records of rifting process and may be related to the episodic plume activities leading to the break-up of Rodinia. | WANG ZhengJiang1, WANG Jian1, DUAN TaiZhong2, XIE Yuan1, ZHUO JieWen1,3 & YANG Ping1 1 Chengdu Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Land and Resources, Chengdu 610082, China 2 Marathon Oil UK Ltd., Aberdeen, Scotland, AB15 6FZ, UK 3 Graduate Department, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Beijing 100037, China | 2010 | Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,9: | 20

A reconstruction method of porous media integrating soft data with hard data显示文摘The three-dimensional reconstruction of porous media is of great significance to the research of mechanisms of fluid flow. The real three-dimensional structural data of porous media are helpful to describe the irregular topologic structures in porous media. The reconstruction of porous media will be inaccurate while only hard data or no conditional data are available. Reconstructed results can be more accurate, using soft data during reconstruction. Integrating soft data with hard data, a method based on multiple-point geostatistics (MPS) is proposed to reconstruct three-dimensional structures of porous media. The variogram curves and permeability, computed by lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), of the reconstructed images and the target image obtained from real volume data were compared, showing that the structural characteristics of reconstructed porous media using both soft data and hard data as conditional data are most similar to those of real volume data. | LU DeTang1,2,3, ZHANG Ting1,2,3, YANG JiaQing1,2,3, LI DaoLun1,2,3 & KONG XiangYan1,2,3 1 Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, China 2 Research Center of Oil and Natural Gas, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, China 3 Key Laboratory of Software in Computing and Communication of Anhui Province, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, China | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,11: | 16
| Wang Chiyuen(Department of Geology and Geophysics University of California,Berkeley,CA 94720)Yang Jiaming Zhu Weilin(Exploration and Development Research Center,China National Offshore Oil Corporation,Xincheng,074010)Zheng Mingling(Scientific Research Ce | 1995 | 地学前缘1995,2,3: | 14
Enrichment mechanisms of rare earth elements in marine hydrogenic ferromanganese crusts显示文摘A series of selective extraction experiments were conducted on marine hydrogenic ferromanganese crusts from the seamount near the Line Island to investigate the distribution of rare earth elements(REEs) and the mechanisms of combination between REEs and the hydrogenic ferromanganese crusts. The enrichment of REEs in hydrogenic ferromanganese crusts is attributed mainly to the mineral or oxide/hydroxide of the crust rather than the growth environment. The REEs are present mainly in amorphous ferric oxide/hydroxide rather than in δ-MnO2.Amorphous ferric oxide/hydroxide preferentially combines free REE3+,while δ-MnO2 combines the REE-carbonate complexes in modern seawater. The REEs in seawater are combined more strongly with amorphous ferric oxide/hydroxides than with δ-MnO2.The positive Ce anomaly in hydrogenic ferromanganese crusts results from the oxidation of soluble Ce3+ to insoluble Ce4+ by the actively soluble oxygen of the bottom current rather than by the oxidation of δ-MnO2. | JIANG XueJun1,2,LIN XueHui1,2,YAO De3,4 & GUO WeiDong5 1 Key Laboratory of Marine Oil and Gas Resources and Marine Environment,Ministry of Land and Resources,Qingdao 266071,China 2 Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology,China Geological Survey,Qingdao 266071,China 3 Institute of Resources and Environment,Shandong University of Technology,Zibo 255049,China 4 Institute of Oceanology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Qingdao 266071,China 5 Department of Oceanography,Xiamen University,Xiamen 361005,China | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,2: | 14
Carbon and Strontium Isotopes of Late Palaeozoic Marine Carbonates in the Upper Yangtze Platform,Southwest China显示文摘238 marine carbonate samples were collected from seven sedimentary sections ofthe entire late Palaeozoic (Permian, Carboniferous and Devonian) in the Upper Yangtze Plat-form, southwest China. Based on the absence of cathodoluminescence and very low Mn (gener-ally<50 ppm) contents of the samples, it is thought that they contain information on the orig-inal sea water geochemistry. The results of isotopic analyses of these samples are presented interms of δ13C and 87Sr/86Sr ratios versus geological time. The strontium data, consistent withother similar data based on samples from North America, Europe, Africa and other areas inAsia, support the notion of a global consistency in strontium isotope composition of marinecarbonates. The strontium data exhibit three intervals of relatively low 87Sr/86Sr ratios in thelate Middle Devonian to early Late Devonian, Early Carboniferous and Early Permian, corre-sponding to global eustatic high sea level stands. The lowest 87Sr/86Sr ratio recorded in theLate Permian was probably caused by substantial basalt eruptions in the Upper Yangtze Plat-form at the time. Three corresponding periods of relatively high δ13C values at roughly the samethe intervals were caused by a relatively high rate of accumulation of organic carbon duringsea level rises at these times. The deposition of coal was probably responsible for the increaseof sea water δ13C at other times. The δ13C values drop dramatically near theDevonian/Carboniferous, Carboniferous/Permian and Permian/Triassic boundaries, con-sistent with other similar data, which further support the notion that geological time boundariesare associated with mass extinction and subsequent rejuvenation. | Huang Sijing and Zhou Shaohua State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation,Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu, 610059, Sichuan, China Geological Institute, University of Copenhagen, Oster Voldgade 10,DK-1350 Copenhagen K,Denmark | 1997 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1997,71,3: | 11
Carbon and hydrogen isotopic characteristics of natural gases from the Luliang and Baoshan basins in Yunnan Province, China显示文摘The Luliang and Baoshan basins of Yunnan Province are two small-sized continental oil/gas-bearing sedimentary basins, which were developed at the bases of the Carboniferous and Devonian systems during the Late Tertiary, covering an area of 325 km2 and 254 km2, respectively. Since the 1990s, there have been discovered small-sized natural gas pools in these two basins. The natural gases are composed mainly of hydrocarbon gases, with nonhydrocarbons accounting for less than 2%. Of the hydrocarbon gases, methane accounts for more than 99%, and the components above C2 account for less than 0.2%. On the basis of previous studies of geological background, the composition of natural gases and their carbon isotopic composition, it has been defined that these two gas pools are of bacterial origin. In this work we have comprehensively measured the carbon and hydrogen isotopic composition of natural gases from these two basins and have gone into the details of the mechanism of gas generation. The δ 13C1 values of natural gases from the Luliang Basin are within the range of –72.1‰―–73.3‰, and the δ DCH4 values, –242‰―–234‰, indicating that the bacterial gas generation is dominated by the way of CO2 reduction. It has been evidenced that under continental-facies fresh water conditions there did occur the CO2 reduction as a process of bacterial gas generation. The δ 13C1 values of natural gases from the Baoshan Basin are within the range of –62.5‰―–63.5‰, and the δ DCH4 values, –252‰―–260‰. These isotopic characteristics are fallen into transitional phase of acetate fermentation and CO2 reduction as defined by Whiticar et al. (1986). An important discovery in the Luliang Basin is the carbon isotopic composition of ethane of purely biogenetic origin, i.e., its δ 13C2 values are within the range of –61.2‰―–66.0‰. These carbon iso- topic values have been reported for the first time in China. As compared to the δ 13C2 values of less than –55‰ for the two cases encountered previously in the world, a significant difference is that in the latter two cases there are obvious signs of contamination caused by ethane of thermal origin. So it cannot be ruled out that the light δ 13C2 values are the result of isotope fractionation of ethane of thermal origin. The δ 13C2 values of natural gases from the Luliang Basin are all less than –60‰, andthere is almost no possibility that ethane of thermal origin migrated vertically and horizontally into gas pools within this basins. This demonstrates that in the Luliang Basin the ethane, whose δ 13C2 values are within the range of –61.2‰―–66.0‰, is of purely biogenic, hence providing scientific evidence that ethane can be produced by the bacterial process. This is an important discovery in natural sci- ence, and also provides clues to the comprehensive study of the mechanism of formation of ethane. | XU Yongchang1, LIU Wenhui2, SHEN Ping1, WANG Wanchun1, WANG Xiaofeng1, Tenger1, YAN Yaomin3 & LIU Ruobin3 1. | 13 | Depositional sequence architecture and filling response model of the Cretaceous in the Kuqa depression, the Tarim basin显示文摘The Cretaceous system of the Kuqa depression is a regional scale (second order) depositional sequence defined by parallel unconformities or minor angular unconformities. It can be divided into four third-order sequence sets, eleven third-order sequences and tens of fourth- and fifth-order sequences. It consists generally of a regional depositional cycle from transgres-sion to regression and is composed of three sets of facies associations: alluvial-fluvial, braided river-deltaic and lacustrine-deltaic facies associations. They represent the lowstand, transgres-sive and highstand facies tracts within the second-order sequence. The tectonic subsidence curve reconstructed by backstripping technique revealed that the Cretaceous Kuqa depression underwent a subsidence history from early accelerated subsidence, middle rapid subsidence and final slower subsidence phases during the Cretaceous time, with the correspondent tectonic subsidence rates being 3035 m/Ma, 4045 m/Ma and 510 m/Ma obtained from northern foredeep. This is likely attributed to the foreland dynamic process from early thrust flexural sub-sidence to late stress relaxation and erosion rebound uplift. The entire sedimentary history and the development of the three facies tracts are a response to the basin subsidence process. The slower subsidence foreland gentle slope was a favorable setting for the formation of braided flu-vial deltaic systems during the late period of the Cretaceous, which comprise the important sandstone reservoirs in the depression. Sediment records of impermanent marine transgression were discovered in the Cretaceous and the major marine horizons are correctable to the high-stands of the global sea level during the period. | LIN Changsong1, WANG Qinghua2, XIAO Jianxin1, WANG Guolin2, LIU Jingyan1 & JI Yunlong1 1. | 15 | Research on the reconstruction method of porous media using multiple-point geostatistics显示文摘The pore structural characteristics have been the key to the studies on the mechanisms of fluids flow in porous media. With the development of experimental technology, the modern high-resolution equipments are capable of capturing pore structure images with a resolution of microns. But so far only 3D volume data of millimeter-scale rock samples can be obtained losslessly. It is necessary to explore the way of virtually reconstructing larger volume digital samples of porous media with the representative structural characteristics of the pore space. This paper proposes a reconstruction method of porous media using the structural characteristics captured by the data templates of multiple-point geostatistics. In this method, the probability of each structural characteristic of a pore space is acquired first, and then these characteristics are reproduced according to the probabilities to present the real structural characteristics in the reconstructed images. Our experimental results have shown that: (i) the deviation of LBM computed permeability respectively on the virtually reconstructed sandstone and the original sample is less than 1.2%; (ii) the reconstructed sandstone and the original sample have similar structural characteristics demonstrated by the variogram curves. | ZHANG Ting 1,2,3, LI DaoLun 1,2 , LU DeTang 1,2 & YANG JiaQing 1,2 1 Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, China 2 Research Center of Oil and Natural Gas, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, China 3 The 28th Research Institute, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Nanjing, 210007, China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,1: | 10

The data show large variations and low δ65Cu values of -3.70‰ to +0.30‰, which are in sharp con-trast to the δ65Cu values of high-temperature mag-matic-hydrothermal copper deposits (-0.62‰ to +0.40‰) and the modern ocean-floor massive sulfide deposits (-0.48‰ to +1.15‰). It is suggested that the Cu isotope fractionation at Jinman is affected mainly by the following factors, i.e. a low temperature of ore formation (150-286℃); a sedimen-tary source for ore materials; various stages of ore deposition; and involvement of organic matter in the ore-forming proc-esses. | JIANG Shaoyong Jon Woodhead YU Jimin PAN Jiayong LIAO Oiling WU Nanping | 2002 | Chinese Science Bulletin2002,47,3: | 9 |
In Situ Synthesis of NaY Zeolite with Coal-Based Kaolin显示文摘NaY zeolites were in-situ synthesized from coal-based kaolin via the hydrothermal method. The effects of various factors on the structure of the samples were extensively investigated. The sampleswere characterized by N2 adsorption, XRD, IR and DTG-DTA methods, and the results show that thecrystallization temperature and amount of added water play an important role in the formation of the zeo-lite structure. The 4A and P zeolites are the competitive phase present in the resulting product. However,NaY zeolites with a higher relative crystallinity, excluding impure crystals and the well hydrothermal sta-bility, can be synthesized from coal-based kaolin. These zeolites possess a larger surface area and a narrowpore size distribution, and this means that optimization of this process might result in a commercial routeto synthesize NaY zeolites from coal-based kaolin. | Xinmei Liu, Zifeng Yan, Huaiping Wang, Yantuo LuoState Key Laboratory for Heavy Oil Processing, Key Laboratory of Catalysis, CNPC, University of Petroleum, Dongying 257061, China | 2003 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2003,12,1: | 8
Confined gravity flow sedimentary process and its impact on the lower continental slope,Niger Delta显示文摘There is active gravity flow sedimentation on the lower continental slope of Niger Delta. High-resolution 3-D seismic data enable a detailed study on the gravity flow deposition process and its impact. The lower continental slope of Niger Delta is characterized by a stepped complex topography, which resulted from gravity sliding and spreading during Miocene and Pliocene. Two types of accommodations are identified on the slope: ponded accommodation as isolated sub-basins and healed slope accommodation as connected tortuous corridors, where multi-scale submarine fans and submarine channels developed. Gravity flow deposition process is affected by the characteristics of gravity flows and the receiving basin. At the early stage, gravity flow deposition process was dominated by 'fill and spill' pattern in the ponded accommodation, whereas it was confined to the healed slope accommodation during the late stage. On the lower continental slope of Niger Delta, complex slope topography controlled the distribution and evolution of the gravity flow, producing complicated gravity depositional patterns. | LI Lei1,2*, WANG YingMin1, ZHANG LianMei3 & HUANG ZhiChao4 1 College of Geosciences, China University of Petroleum, Beijing 102249, China 2 School of Petroleum Resources, Xi’an Shiyou University, Xi’an 710065, China 3 School of Resources & Geoscience, China University of Mining & Technology, Xuzhou 221008, China 4 Institute of Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Shanghai 200120, China | 2010 | Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,8: | 8
