1Efficient desulfurization of gasoline fuel using ionic liquid extraction as a complementary process to adsorptive desulfurization显示文摘The extractive desulfurization of a model gasoline containing several alky]thiols and aromatic thiophenic compounds was investigated using two imidazolium-based ionic liquids(ILs).1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroaluminate,and l-oetyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate.as extractants.A fractional factorial design of experiments was employed to evaluate the effects and possible interactions of several process variables.Analysis of variance tests indicated that the number of extraction steps and the IL/gasoline volume ratio were of statistically highly significant,but none of the interactions were significant.The results showed that the desulfurizalion efficiency of the model gasoline by the ILs could reach 95.2%under the optimal conditions.The optimized conditions were applied to study the extraction of thiophenic compounds in model gasoline and several real gasoline samples:the following order was observed in their separation:benzothiophene > thiophene > 3-methylthiophene > 2-melhylthiophene.with 96.1%removal efficiency for benzothiophene.The IL extraction was successfully applied as a complementary process to the adsorptive desulfurization with activated Raney nickel and acetonitrile solvent.The results indicated that the adsorptive process combined with IL extraction could provide high efficiency and selectivity,which can be regarded as a promising energy efficient desulfurization strategy for production of low-sulfur gasoline.N.Farzin Nejad A.A.Miran Beigi 2015Petroleum Science2015,12,2:8
2Antibacterial activity of eight Iranian plant extracts against methicillin and cefixime restistant Staphylococcous aureus strains显示文摘Objective:To assess the antibacterial activity of eight Iranian plant extracts against Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) strains which were isolated from infected patients.Methods: The studied strains were isolated from urine,stool,blood and wound of infected patients and identified by biochemical tests.In further,the antibacterial activity of 8 ethanolic local plant extracts including Querqus brantii(Q.brantii),Ziziphus spina-christi(Z.spina-christi),Peganum harmala(P.harmala),Oliveira decumbens(O.decumbens),Galium tricornutum(G.tricornutum), Vitex pseudo negundo(Vi.pseudo negundo),Salvia officinalis(S.officinalis),Vaccaria pyramidata (V.pyramidata) were then evaluated using agar disc diffusion method.Results:A total of 9 isolates were isolated and identified as S.aureus.Antibacterial profile of the strains showed that the strains were resistant to methicillin and cefixime.The highest antibacterial activity against the studied strains were belong to Q.brantii,P.harmala,Z.spina-christi and O.decumbens vent extracts with 11-40 mm,15-28 mm,8-26 mm and 10-20 mm of diameters,respectively. Intermediate antibacterial activity was exhibited by G.tricornutum and Vi.pseudo negundo against some of the studied strains with 7-20 mm and 7-13 mm of diameters,respectively. Noteworthy,out of 9 studied strains;6 and 2 of them were resistant to the G.tricornutum and Vi. pseudo negundo extracts,respectively.The S.officinalis and Va.pyramidata,however,showed no antibacterial activity against the studied strains.Conclusions:The Q.brantii,P.harmala,Z. spina-christi and O.decumbens extracts were shown to possess strong antibacterial activity against methicillin and cefixime resistant S.aureus strains and can be considered as the promising natural antibiotics for treating the studied strains.Morteza Shojaei Moghadam Susan Maleki Esmaeil Darabpour Hossein Motamedi Seyyed Mansour Seyyed Nejad 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,4:7
3In vitro assay for the anti-brucella activity of medicinal plants against tetracycline-resistant Brucella melitensis显示文摘Brucellosis, a zoonosis caused by four species of brucella, has a high morbidity. Brucella melitensis is the main causative agent of brucellosis in both human and small ruminants. As an alternative to conventional antibiotics, medicinal plants are valuable resources for new agents against antibiotic-resistant strains. The aim of this study was to investigate the usage of native plants for brucellosis treatment. For this purpose, the anti-brucella activities of ethanolic and methanolic extracts of Salvia sclarea, Oliveria decumbens, Ferulago angulata, Vitex pseudo-negundo, Teucrium polium, Plantago ovata, Cordia myxa, and Crocus sativus were assessed. The activity against a resistant Br. melitensis strain was determined by disc diffusion method at various concentrations from 50-400 mg/ml. Antibiotic discs were also used as a control. Among the evaluated herbs, six plant (Salvia sclarea, Oliveria decumbens, Ferulago angulata, Vitex pseudo-negundo, Teucrium polium, and Crocus sativus) showed anti-brucella activity. Oliveria de- cumbens was chosen as the most effective plant for further studies. A tested isolate exhibited resistance to tetracycline, nafcillin, oxacillin, methicillin, and colistin. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) values for Oliveria decumbens against resistant Br. melitensis were the same (5 mg/ml), and for gentamicin they were both 2 mg/ml. Time-kill kinetics for a methanolic extract of Oliveria decumbens was 7 h whereas for an ethanolic extract it was 28 h. Also, Oliveria decumbens extracts showed a synergistic effect in combination with doxycycline and tetracycline. In general, the similar values of MIC and MBC for Oliveria decumbens suggest that these extracts could act as bactericidal agents against Br. melitensis. 4Reciprocal impact of host factors and Helicobacter pylori genotypes on gastric diseases显示文摘AIM: To assess the impact of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) genotypes and patient age and sex on the development of gastric diseases.METHODS: H. pylori-infected patients(n = 233) referred to the endoscopy unit at Tehran University of Medical Sciences(Tehran,Iran) were diagnosed with chronic gastritis(CG),gastric ulcer(GU),or duodenal ulcer(DU). Brucella blood agar was used for biopsy cultures and H. pylori isolation under microaerobic conditions. H. pylori isolates were confirmed with biochemical tests and through amplification of the 16 S r RNA gene. DNA was extracted from fresh cultures of the H. pylori isolates and used for amplification of vac A alleles and the cag A gene. Statistical analysis was performed to determine the association between H. pylori genotypes,age(< 40 years vs > 40 years) and sex of the patient,and gastric diseases.RESULTS: CG was the most prevalent gastric disease(113/233; 48.5%),compared to GU(64/233; 27.5%)and DU(56/233; 24%). More patients were male,and gastric diseases were more frequent in patients > 40 years(P < 0.05). The percentage of CG and GU patients that were male and female did not show a significant difference; however DU was more common in males(P < 0.05). Interestingly,a diagnosis of CG in patients > 40 years was more common in females(18.5%) than males(11.6%)(P = 0.05),whereas a diagnosis of GU or DU in patients > 40 years was more frequent in males(14.6% vs 10.7% and 12.4% vs 4.3%,respectively). Overall,genotyping of the H. pylori isolates revealed that the vac A s1(82%),vac A m2(70%),and cag A+(72.5%) alleles were more frequent than vac A s2(18%),vac A m1(29.2%),and cag A-(all P < 0.05). The vac A s1m2 cag A+ genotype was the most prevalent within the three disease groups. vac A s1m2 frequency was 56.2% with a similar occurrence in all diagnoses,while vac A s1m1 appeared more often in DU patients(33.9%). A genotype of vac A s2m2 occurred in 15% of isolates and was more common in CG patients(21.2%); vac A s2m1 was the least common genotype(3%). The vac A s1 allele was found to be a risk factor for DU,vac A s2 for CG,and vac A s1 and vac A s2 for GU(all P < 0.05). The vac A s2m2 genotype was associated with the development of CG and GU compared to DU(P < 0.05). 5Application of artificial neural networks for predicting the impact of rolling dynamic compaction using dynamic cone penetrometer test results显示文摘Rolling dynamic compaction(RDC),which involves the towing of a noncircular module,is now widespread and accepted among many other soil compaction methods.However,to date,there is no accurate method for reliable prediction of the densification of soil and the extent of ground improvement by means of RDC.This study presents the application of artificial neural networks(ANNs) for a priori prediction of the effectiveness of RDC.The models are trained with in situ dynamic cone penetration(DCP) test data obtained from previous civil projects associated with the 4-sided impact roller.The predictions from the ANN models are in good agreement with the measured field data,as indicated by the model correlation coefficient of approximately 0.8.It is concluded that the ANN models developed in this study can be successfully employed to provide more accurate prediction of the performance of the RDC on a range of soil types.R.A.T.M. 6Antimicrobial properties of Teucrium polium against some clinical pathogens显示文摘Objective:To explore the antibacterial effect of the alcoholic extracts of aerial parts of Teucrium polium,native in Iran on some pathogenic bacteria.Methods:Antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract(50 to 400 mg/mL) and methanolic extract(400 and 600 mg/mL) was evaluated by disc diffusion method.Results:The ethanolic extract results showed that Bacillus anthracis was the most sensitive species,while Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis were more resistant than others.In the case of the methanolic extract,Bordetella bronchiseptica was the most sensitive and Proteus mirabilis and Arcanobacterium pyogenes were the most resistant species.The hydroalcoholic extract of Teucrium polium had a relatively satisfactory effect on Salmonella typhi. The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi was 40 mg/mL and Bordetella bronchiseptica and Bacillus anthracis was 10 mg/mL.The minimal bactericidal concentration(MBC) against Bacillus anthracis was 10 mg/mL while against other species were not found(>200 mg/mL).The methanolic extract had also synergistic effect with methicillin,vancomycin against Staphylococcus aureus and with novobiocin against Salmonella typhi.Conclusions:These results suggest that this plant contains relatively good antibacterial activity and it can be used as a source of antiseptic compounds for medicinal uses.Esmaeil Darabpour Hossein Motamedi Seyyed Mansour Seyyed Nejad 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,2:4
7太阳能路面能量转化与路表性能研究显示文摘为了研究和评估太阳能路面作为可持续能源生产提供电能的可行性,研究团队构建了'太阳能电池板'(将太阳能电池嵌入橡胶和'树脂玻璃'之间)和'太阳能路面'(将太阳能电池嵌入两个多孔橡胶层之间)两种新型路面结构模型,两者均能吸收太阳能并将其转化为电能贮存在光伏电池中。在构建路面结构组成的基础上,从能量供给、路表性能两方面对两种新型太阳能路面的使用性能进行了评价。采用摆式摩擦系数仪(BPT)和万能试验机(UTM)测定了太阳能路面的路表抗滑性能和动态特性,并对两种新型太阳能路面进行了排水性能试验;同时,为了测试太阳能路面通过太阳能电池获取电能的可行性,进行了电压(电流)测量,确定了能量转换率(PCE)。结果表明:在潮湿的环境下,'太阳能电池板'和'太阳能路面'的BPN摆值分别为42和47.8;通过排水性能试验测定的'太阳能电池板'和'太阳能路面'的平均体积流量分别为0.018L/s和0.042L/s,而传统沥青路面的排水性能试验测定值为0.0224L/s。研究结果表明:由太阳能电池和橡胶层组成的新型太阳能路面不仅可满足道路运输的安全参数,还具备发电能力,可作为一种新型路面进行研究和发展。赵亚兰 郭红兵 Azin Sadeghi Dezfooli Fereidoon Moghadas Nejad Hamzeh Zakeri Sholeh Kazemifard 2018中外公路2018,38,5:2
8Genetic programming for predictions of effectiveness of rolling dynamic compaction with dynamic cone penetrometer test results显示文摘Rolling dynamic compaction (RDC),which employs non-circular module towed behind a tractor,is an innovative soil compaction method that has proven to be successful in many ground improvement applications.RDC involves repeatedly delivering high-energy impact blows onto the ground surface,which improves soil density and thus soil strength and stiffness.However,there exists a lack of methods to predict the effectiveness of RDC in different ground conditions,which has become a major obstacle to its adoption.For this,in this context,a prediction model is developed based on linear genetic programming (LGP),which is one of the common approaches in application of artificial intelligence for nonlinear forecasting.The model is based on in situ density-related data in terms of dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) results obtained from several projects that have employed the 4-sided,8-t impact roller (BH-1300).It is shown that the model is accurate and reliable over a range of soil types.Furthermore,a series of parametric studies confirms its robustness in generalizing data.In addition,the results of the comparative study indicate that the optimal LGP model has a better predictive performance than the existing artificial neural network (ANN) model developed earlier by the authors.R.A.T.M.Ranasinghe M.B.Jaksa F.Pooya Nejad Y.L.Kuo 2019Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2019,11,4:2
9Biostratigraphy and Paleoecology of Maastrichtian Sediments in the Zagros Basin, Iran显示文摘To enable the lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic study of the Gurpi Formation,within the ‘Dezak' or Globigerina Marl,a stratigraphic section at Booraki,located to the NNW of Shiraz,SW Iran,through the late Cretaceous was examined.The formation consists of shale and greenish-gray marls interbedded with cream limestone,brown sandstones and siltstones with an exposed thickness of 160 m in the studied section.Samples were taken at regular intervals in all yielding 14 genera and 16 different species of benthic and planktic foraminifera that allowed determination of the age of the beds as Maastrichtian.To examine the paleoecology of the formation,some important ecological factors including water level,salinity,and oxygen regime change during the depositional courses of the formation were analyzed.The density of foraminiferans decreases from the base to top of the Gurpi Formation whereas the ratio of planktic to benthic Foraminifera(i.e.,P/B) and proportion of shallow-water fauna increase.These foraminiferal changes indicate an increase and decrease in depth,temperature,salinity and oxygen,respectively,at the base and top of the Formation.Mahnaz Parvaneh Nejad SHIRAZI Pegah SHAMS Mohammad BAHRAMI 2013Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,5:2
