1Fuzzy logic based coordinated control of battery energy storage system and dispatchable distributed generation for microgrid显示文摘Microgrid is a good option to integrate renewableenergy sources (RES) into power systems. Inorder to deal with the intermittent characteristics of therenewable energy based distributed generation (DG) units,a fuzzy-logic based coordinated control strategy of a batteryenergy storage system (BESS) and dispatchable DGunits is proposed for the microgrid management system(MMS). In the proposed coordinated control strategy, theBESS is used to minimize active power exchange at thepoint of common coupling of the microgrid for grid-connectedoperation, and is used for frequency control for islandoperation. 2miRNA expression profiles in cerebrospinal fluid and blood of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia-an exploratory study显示文摘Background:MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are small non-coding RNA molecules that function as posttranscriptional regulators of gene expression.Measurements of miRNAs in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)and blood have just started gaining attention as a novel diagnostic tool for various neurological conditions.The purpose of this exploratory investigation was to analyze the expression of miRNAs in CSF and blood of patients with Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and other neurodegenerative disorders in order to identify potential miRNA biomarker candidates able to separate AD from other types of dementia.Methods:CSF was collected by lumbar puncture performed on 10 patients diagnosed with AD and 10 patients diagnosed with either vascular dementia,frontotemporal dementia or dementia with Lewy bodies.Blood samples were taken immediately after.Total RNA was extracted from cell free fractions of CSF and plasma,and a screening for 372 known miRNA sequences was carried out by real time quantitative polymerase chain reactions(miRCURY LNA™Universal RT miRNA PCR,Polyadenylation and cDNA synthesis kit,Exiqon).Results:Fifty-two miRNAs were detected in CSF in at least nine out of ten patients in both groups.Among these,two miRNAs(let-7i-5p and miR-15a-5p)were found significantly up-regulated and one miRNA(miR-29c-3p)was found significantly down-regulated in patients with AD compared to controls.One hundred and sixty-eight miRNAs were frequently detected in the blood,among which miR-590-5p and miR-142-5p were significantly up-regulated and miR-194-5p was significantly down-regulated in AD patients compared to controls.Conclusions:Detection of miRNA expression profiles in blood and in particular CSF of patients diagnosed with different types of dementia is feasible and it seems that several expressional differences between AD and other dementia types do exist when measured in a clinically relevant setup.In this explorative pilot study,the deregulated miRNAs in CSF of AD patients may be associated with relevant target genes related to AD pathology,including APP and BACE1,which suggests that miRNAs are interesting candidates for AD biomarkers in the future.Sofie Sølvsten Sørensen Ann-Britt Nygaard Thomas Christensen 2016Translational Neurodegeneration2016,5,1:14
3Hepatitis C virus infection in the human immunodeficiency virus infected patient显示文摘Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)and hepatitis C virus(HCV)share the same transmission routes;therefore,coinfection is frequent.An estimated 5-10 million individuals alone in the western world are infected with both viruses.The majority of people acquire HCV by injection drug use and,to a lesser extent,through blood transfusion and blood products.Recently,there has been an increase in HCV infections among men who have sex with men.In the context of effective antiretroviral treatment,liver-related deaths are now more common than Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromerelated deaths among HIV-HCV coinfected individuals.Morbidity and mortality rates from chronic HCV infection will increase because the infection incidence peaked in the mid-1980s and because liver disease progresses slowly and is clinically silent to cirrhosis and end-stage-liver disease over a 15-20 year time period for 15%-20%of chronically infected individuals.HCV treatment has rapidly changed with the development of new direct-acting antiviral agents;therefore,cure rates have greatly improved because the new treatment regimens target different parts of the HCV life cycle.In this review,we focus on the epidemiology,diagnosis and the natural course of HCV as well as current and future strategies for HCV therapy in the context of HIV-HCV coinfection in the western world.Louise Nygaard Clausen Lene Fogt Lundbo Thomas Benfield 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,34:3
4Combining population genomics and ecological niche modeling to assess taxon limits between Carex jemtlandica and C. lepidocarpa显示文摘Carex section Ceratocystis(Cyperaceae)is a group of recently evolved plant species,in which hybridization is frequent,introgression is documented,taxonomy is complex,and morphological boundaries are vague.Within this section,a unified taxonomic treatment of the Carex jemtlandica-Carex lepidocarpa species complex does not exist,and Norway may currently be the sole country accepting species rank for both.Carex jemtlandica is mainly confined to Fennoscandia and is thus a Fennoscandian conservation responsibility.This motivated us to test the principal hypothesis that both C jemtlandica and C lepidocarpa represent evolutionary significant units,and that both deserve their current recognition at species level.We investigated their evolutionary distinctiveness in Norway,using restriction site-associated DNA sequencing and ecological niche modeling.Our genomic results reveal two genetic clusters,largely corresponding to C jemtlandica and C lepidocarpa that also remain distinct in sympatry,despite clear indications of ongoing hybridization and introgression.The ecological niche modeling suggests that they occupy different environmental niches.Jointly,our results clearly show that C.jemtlandica and C lepidocarpa represent separately evolving entities that should qualify recognition as evolutionary significant units.Given the high level of introgression compared to other hybridizing species pairs in Carex we recommend treating C jemtlandica as a subspecies of C lepidocarpa.Malene Nygaard Petri Kemppainen James D.M.Speed Reidar Elven Kjell Ivar Flatberg Leif P.Galten Narjes Yousefi Heidi Solstad Mika Bendiksby 2021Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,4:3
5Size-asymmetric root competition in deep,nutrient-poor soil显示文摘Aims There is much evidence that plant competition below ground is size symmetric,i.e.that competing plants share contested resources in proportion to their sizes.Several researchers have hypothesized that a patchy distribution of soil nutrients could result in size-asymmetric root competition.We tested this hypothesis.Methods In a greenhouse experiment,Triticum aestivum(wheat)individ-uals of different initial sizes were grown alone or with below-ground competition from one neighbour,in 1 m tall,narrow containers in a nitrogen-poor field soil with(i)no added nitro-gen,(ii)nitrogen fertilizer mixed into the upper 50 cm,and(iii)the same amount of fertilizer mixed into a 20-30 cm deep layer.We measured total leaf length throughout the experiment,and above-ground biomass and nitrogen concentration at harvest.We also measured root depth and frequency over time in a subset of containers.Important Findings Competing plants were half the size of non-competing plants,meaning that root competition was very strong.Root competition was size-asym-metric to some degree in all soil treatments.Neighbours larger than the target plant showed a greater per-unit-size effect on target growth than neighbours smaller than the target.Size variation increased over time for competing individuals,but decreased for non-competing pairs.Contrary to expectations,the presence of a high-nutrient patch reduced the strength and size asymmetry of competition temporarily.Size asym-metry in poor,deep soils may result from directionality in resource interception as roots compete for limited nutrients by growing deeper into soil layers that have not yet been exploited.Root competition can be size asymmetric,but not to the same degree as competition for light.Camilla Ruø Rasmussen Anne Nygaard Weisbach Kristian Thorup-Kristensen Jacob Weiner 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,1:2
