2Nonlinear Bend Stiffener Analysis Using A Simple Formulation and Finite Element Method显示文摘Flexible marine risers are commonly used in deepwater floating systems.Bend stiffeners are designed to protect flexible risers against excessive bending at the connection with the hull.The structure is usually analyzed as a cantilever beam subjected to an inclined point load.As deflections are large and the bend stiffener material exhibits nonlinear stress-strain characteristics,geometric and material nonlinearities are important considerations.A new approach has been developed to solve this nonlinear problem.Its main advantage is its simplicity;in fact the present method can be easily implemented on a spreadsheet.Finite element analysis using ABAQUS is performed to validate the method.Solid elements are used for the bend stiffener and flexible pipe.To simulate the near inextensibility of flexible risers,a simple and original idea of using truss elements is proposed.Through a set of validation studies,the present method is found to be in a good agreement with the finite element analysis.Further,parametric studies are performed by using both methods to identify the key parameters and phenomena that are most critical in design.The most important finding is that the common practice of neglecting the internal steel sleeve in the bend stiffener analysis is non-conservative and therefore needs to be reassessed.TONG Dong Jin LOW Ying Min SHEEHAN John M 2011China Ocean Engineering2011,25,4:6
3Oxidation and Thermal Fatigue Behaviors of Two Type Hot Work Steels During Thermal Cycling显示文摘Thermal fatigue test has been carried out on widely used hot work steel 4Cr5MoSiV1and a low alloyed steel 3Cr3MoV in temperature range of 200to 700℃.Tempering resistance,as well as high temperature hardness/strength of steel specimens,works as a dominating material parameter on thermal fatigue resistance.During the heating period,high hardness can depress the inelastic deformation.This deformation is the origination of tensile stress,which acts as the driving force of heat checking during the cooling period.The cyclic strain-oxidation interaction can speed up the damage on surface defects,which plays an obvious role in initiation of thermal cracks.On4Cr5MoSiV1steel specimens,borders between the matrix and inclusions such as titanium compounds,or lager carbides such as primary carbides,are focused by strain and attacked by oxidation,and are main initiating places of cracks.While on 3Cr3MoV steel specimens,larger strain causes plastic deformation concentrating around grain boundaries.Then the following oxidation accelerates this grain boundary damage and creates cracks.MIN Yong-an Bergstrm Jens WU Xiao-chun XU Luo-ping 2013Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2013,20,11:5

5Neonatal vitamin A injection promotes cattle muscle growth and increases oxidative muscle fibers显示文摘Background: Vitamin A and its metabolite,retinoic acid(RA),are important regulators of cell differentiation and organ morphogenesis.Its impact on beef cattle muscle growth remains undefined.Method: Angus steer calves were administrated with 0(control) or 150,000 IU vitamin A(retinyl palmitate in glycerol,i.m.) per calf at birth and 1 month of age.At 2 months of age,a biopsy of the Biceps femoris muscle was obtained to analyze the immediate effects of vitamin A injection on myogenic capacity of muscle cells.The resulting steers were harvested at 14 months of age.Results: Vitamin A administration increased cattle growth at 2 months.At 2 months of age,Vitamin A increased PAX7 positive satellite cells and the expression of myogenic marker genes including PAX7,MYF5,MYOD and MYOG.Muscle derived mononuclear cells were further isolated and induced myogenesis in vitro.More myotubes and a higher degree of myogenesis was observed in vitamin A groups.Consistently,vitamin A increased Latissimus dorsi(LD) muscle fiber size at harvest.In addition,vitamin A increased the ratio of oxidative type I and type IIA fibers and reduced the glycolic type IIX fibers.Furthermore,we found that RA,a key bioactive metabolite of vitamin A,activated PPARGC1 A promoter,which explains the upregulated expression of PPARGC1 A in skeletal muscle.Conclusion: Vitamin A administration to neonatal calves enhanced postnatal muscle growth by promoting myogenesis and increasing satellite cell density,accompanied with a shift to oxidative muscle fibers.Bo Wang Wei Nie Xing Fu Jeanene M de Avila Yannan Ma Mei-Jun Zhu Martin Maquivar Steven M Parish Jan R Busboom Mark L Nelson Min Du 2019Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,1:3
6Toxicity and Carcinogenicity of Ozone in Combination with 4-(N-methyl-N-nitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone and Dibutyl Phthalate in B6C3F1 Mice for 16 and 32 Weeks显示文摘To evaluate the toxic and carcinogenic potential of ozone alone or in combination with 4-(N-methyl-N-nitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone(NNK) and/or dibutyl phthalate(DBP).Methods Male and female B6C3F1 mice were exposed,through inhalation,intravenous administration and diet,to 0.5 ppm of ozone,1.0 mg/kg of NNK and 5000 ppm of DBP,individually and in combination for 16 and 32 weeks.Results No treatment-related death was seen,but significant differences in body and organ weights between control and treated mice were observed during the study.No incidence of lung tumor incidence was recorded in mice exposed to either ozone alone or combined treatment.Oviductal carcinomas were observed in female mice exposed to ozone or DBP alone for 16 weeks and ozone in combination with NNK and DBP for 32 weeks.Conclusion Although ozone alone and in conjunction with NNK and/or DBP does not induce lung cancer under our experimental conditions,they induce oviductal carcinomas in B6C3F1 mice.MIN YOUNG KIM M YUNG CHO 2009Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2009,22,3:3
