Urimem,a membrane that can store urinary proteins simply and economically, makes the large-scale storage of clinical samples possible显示文摘By nature, biomarker is the measurable change associated with a physiological or pathophysiological process.Unlike blood which has mechanisms to minimize changes and to keep the internal environment homeostatic, urine is more likely to reflect changes of the body and is a better biomarker source.Because of its potential in biomarker discovery, urinary proteins should be preserved comprehensively as the duration of the patients’corresponding medical records. Here,we propose a method to adsorb urinary proteins onto a membrane we named Urimem. This simple and inexpensive method requires minimal sample handling, uses no organic solvents, and is environmentally friendly.Urine samples were filtered through the membrane, and urinary proteins were adsorbed onto the membrane. The proteins on the membrane were dried and stored in a vacuum bag, which keeps the protein pattern faithfully preserved. The membrane may even permit storage at room temperature for weeks.Using this simple and inexpensive method,it is possible to begin preserving urine samples from all consenting people. Thus, medical research especially biomarker research can be conducted more economically.Even more objective large-scale prospective studies will be possible. This method has the potential to change the landscape of medical research and medical practice.JIA LuLu LIU XueJiao LIU Liu LI MingXi GAO YouHe 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,3:19

Adaptable hydrogel with reversible linkages for regenerative medicine:Dynamic mechanical microenvironment for cells显示文摘Hydrogels are three-dimensional platforms that serve as substitutes for native extracellular matrix. These materials are starting to play important roles in regenerative medicine because of their similarities to native matrix in water content and flexibility. It would be very advantagoues for researchers to be able to regulate cell behavior and fate with specific hydrogels that have tunable mechanical properties as biophysical cues.Recent developments in dynamic chemistry have yielded designs of adaptable hydrogels that mimic dynamic nature of extracellular matrix. The current review provides a comprehensive overview for adaptable hydrogel in regenerative medicine as follows.First,we outline strategies to design adaptable hydrogel network with reversible linkages according to previous findings in supramolecular chemistry and dynamic covalent chemistry.Next,we describe the mechanism of dynamic mechanical microenvironment influence cell behaviors and fate, including how stress relaxation influences on cell behavior and how mechanosignals regulate matrix remodeling. Finally,we highlight techniques such as bioprinting which utilize adaptable hydrogel in regenerative medicine. We conclude by discussing the limitations and challenges for adaptable hydrogel, and we present perspectives for future studies.Zongrui Tong Lulu Jin Joaquim Miguel Oliveira Rui LReis Qi Zhong Zhengwei Mao Changyou Gao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:8
A fast algorithm for nonlinear model predictive control applied to HEV energy management systems显示文摘This paper presents a fast algorithm for nonlinear model predictive control. In real-time implementation, a nonlinear optimal problem is often rewritten as a nonlinear programming(NLP) problem using the Euler method, which is based on dividing the prediction horizon into N steps in a given time interval. However,real-time optimization is usually limited to slow processes, since the sampling time must be sufficient to support the task's computational needs. In this study, by combining the Gauss pseudospectral method and model predictive control, a fast algorithm is proposed using fewer discrete points to transcribe an optimal control problem into an NLP problem while ensuring the same computational accuracy as traditional discretization methods. The approach is applied to the torque split control for hybrid electric vehicles(HEV) with a predefined torque demand, and its computational time is at least half that of the Euler method with the same accuracy.Lulu GUO Bingzhao GAO Yong LI Hong CHEN 2017Science China(Information Sciences)2017,60,9:8
A common sense geographic knowledge base for GIR显示文摘As background knowledge of geographic information retrieval (GIR),the gazetteers have their limitations. In this paper we propose to develop and implement a com-mon sense geographic knowledge base (CSGKB) instead of the gazetteers. We define that CSGKB is concerned with the representation of geographic knowledge in human brain and the simulation of geographic reasoning in daily life. Traditional geographic information system (GIS) is based on the model of map with its data based on geographic coordinates and its computation based on geometry. However,CSGKB,which is made up of geographic features and relationships and is based on qualitative spatio-temporal reasoning, can be viewed as the direct model of geographic world. This paper also discusses the characters of CSGKB and pre-sents its structure which is composed of knowledge base, inference engine,geo-graphic ontology and learner. The applications using CSGKB include geographic information retrieval (GIR),natural language processing (NLP),named entity rec-ognition (NER),Semantic Web,etc. At present, our work focuses on the design of geographic ontology and the implementation of the CSGKB knowledge base. In this paper we describe the CSGKB ontology structure, top ontology, geographic loca-tion ontology, spatial relationship ontology, and domain ontologies. Finally,we in-troduce the current state of implementation of CSGKB and give an outlook on our future researches.ZHANG Yi,GAO Yong,XUE LuLu,SHEN Si & CHEN KaiChen Institute of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System,Peking University,Beijing 100871,China 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,S1:7

Ternary mesoporous cobalt-iron-nickel oxide efficiently catalyzing oxygen/hydrogen evolution reactions and overall water splitting显示文摘Among various efficient electrocatalysts for water splitting,CoFe and NiFe-based oxides/hydroxides are typically promising candidates thanks to their extraordinary activities towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER).However, the endeavor to advance their performance towards overall water splitting has been largely impeded by the limited activities for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).Herein,we present a CoFeNi ternary metal-based oxide (CoFeNi-O) with impressive hierarchical bimodal channel nanostructures, which was synthesized via a facile one-step dealloying strategy. The oxide shows superior catalytic activities towards both HER and OER in alkaline solution due to the alloying effect and the intrinsic hierarchical porous structure.CoFeNi-O loaded on glass carbon electrodes only requires the overpotentials as low as 230 and 278 mV to achieve the OER current densities of 10 and 100 mA·cm-2,respectively.In particular, extremely low overpotentials of 200 and 57.9 mV are sufficient enough for Ni foam-supported CoFeNi-O to drive the current density of 10 mA·cm-2 towards OER and HER respectively, which is comparable with or even better than the already-developed state-of-the-art non-noble metal oxide based catalysts.Benefiting from the bifunctionalities of CoFeNi-O,an alkaline electrolyzer constructed by the Ni foam-supported CoFeNi-O electrodes as both the anode and the cathode can deliver a current density of 10 mA·cm-2 at a fairly low cell-voltage of 1.558 V.In view of its electrocatalytic merits together with the facile and cost-effective dealloying route,CoFeNi-O is envisioned as a promising catalyst for future production of sustainable energy resources.Lulu Han Limin Guo Chaoqun Dong Chi Zhang Hui Gao Jiazheng Niu Zhangquan Peng Zhonghua Zhang 2019Nano Research2019,12,9:5
Vertical structure and seasonal variation of tidal and residual currents in the northern Huanghai Sea显示文摘Analysis of tidal current and sea level has been made based on the observations from the summer of 2006 to the winter of 2007,respectively.The result indicates that a two-layer structure of residual current exists in summer, with its upper layer going northwestward and the lower layer southeastward. In addition, some strong residuals exist in the neighboring depth of the pycnocline during the current period of astronomical tide.In winter, except some individual layersthe residual currents mostly direct to the northwest, from which we can see the fluctuation of abnormal sea-level and the appearance of associated current because of the changes of the wind field. The analysis of tidal ellipse indicates that the direction of the maximum semidiurnal component is clockwise from summer to winter, with an angle of 16-18.Moreover,in summer the semidiurnal component rotates with depth clockwise while the diurnal component counterclockwise. However, the vertical structure is almost homogeneous in winter.SONG Jun GUO Junru QIAO Lulu MU Lin YAO Zhigang LIU Yang LI Huan BAO Xianwen SUN Xiaoyan GAO Jia 2011Acta Oceanologica Sinica2011,30,5:4
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)membrane(M)protein inhibits type I and III interferon production by targeting RIG-I/MDA-5 signaling显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has quickly spread worldwide and has affected more than 10 million individuals.A typical feature of COVID-19 is the suppression of type I and III interferon(IFN)-mediated antiviral immunity. However, the molecular mechanism by which SARS-CoV-2 evades antiviral immunity remains elusive. Here,we reported that the SARS-CoV-2 membrane(M)protein inhibits the production of type I and III IFNs induced by the cytosolic dsRNA-sensing pathway mediated by RIG-I/MDA-5–MAVS signaling. In addition, the SARS-CoV-2 M protein suppresses type I and III IFN induction stimulated by SeV infection or poly(I:C)transfection.Mechanistically, the SARS-CoV-2 M protein interacts with RIG-I,MAVS,and TBK1,thus preventing the formation of the multiprotein complex containing RIG-I,MAVS,TRAF3,and TBK1 and subsequently impeding the phosphorylation, nuclear translocation, and activation of IRF3.Consequently,ectopic expression of the SARS-CoV-2 M protein facilitates the replication of vesicular stomatitis virus.Taken together, these results indicate that the SARS-CoV-2 M protein antagonizes type I and III IFN production by targeting RIG-I/MDA-5 signaling, which subsequently attenuates antiviral immunity and enhances viral replication. This study provides insight into the interpretation of SARS-CoV-2-induced antiviral immune suppression and illuminates the pathogenic mechanism of COVID-19.Yi Zheng Meng-Wei Zhuang Lulu Han Jing Zhang Mei-Ling Nan Peng Zhan Dongwei Kang Xinyong Liu Chengjiang Gao Pei-Hui Wang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:3
Correlation between radiologic features on contrastenhanced CT and pathological tumor grades in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms显示文摘Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)contributes to the increasing detection of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms(PNENs).Nevertheless, its value for differentiating pathological tumor grades is not well recognized. In this report,we have conducted a retrospective study on the relationship between the 2017 World Health Organization(WHO)classification and CT imaging features in 94 patients. Most of the investigated features eventually provided statistically significant indicators for discerning PNENs G3 from PNENs G1/G2,including tumor size, shape, margin, heterogeneity, intratumoral blood vessels, vascular invasion, enhancement pattern in both contrast phases, enhancement degree in both phases,tumor-to-pancreas contrast ratio in both phases, common bile duct dilatation, lymph node metastases, and liver metastases.Ill-defined tumor margin was an independent predictor for PNENs G3 with the highest area under the curve(AUC)of 0.906 in the multivariable logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The portal enhancement ratio(PER)was shown the highest AUC of 0.855 in terms of quantitative features. Our data suggest that the traditional contrastenhanced CT still plays a vital role in differentiation of tumor grades and heterogeneity analysis prior to treatment.Wenbin Xu Han Yan Lulu Xu Mingna Li Wentao Gao Kuirong Jiang Junli Wu Yi Miao 2021The Journal of Biomedical Research2021,35,3:2
Estimation of spectral responses and chlorophyll based on growth stage effects explored by machine learning methods显示文摘Estimation of leaf chlorophyll content(LCC) by proximal sensing is an important tool for photosynthesis evaluation in high-throughput phenotyping. The temporal variability of crop biochemical properties and canopy structure across different growth stages has great impacts on wheat LCC estimation, known as growth stage effects. It will result in the heterogeneity of crop canopy at different growth stages, which would mask subtle spectral response of biochemistry variations. This study aims to explore spectral responses on the growth stage effects and establish LCC models suited for different growth stages. A total number of 864 pairwise samples of wheat canopy spectra and LCC values with 216 observations of each stage were sampled at the tillering, jointing, booting and heading stages in 2021. Firstly, statistical analysis of LCC and spectral response presented different distribution traits and typical spectral variations peak at 470, 520 and 680 nm. Correlation analysis between LCC and reflectance showed typical red edge shifts. Secondly, the testing model of partial least square(PLS) established by the entire datasets to validate the predictive performance at each stage yielded poor LCC estimation accuracy. The spectral wavelengths of red edge(RE) and blue edge(BE) shifts and the poor estimation capability motivated us to further explore the growth stage effects by establishing LCC models at respective growth periods. Finally, competitive adaptive reweighted sampling PLS(CARS-PLS), decision tree(DT) and random forest(RF) were used to select sensitive bands and establish LCC models at specific stages. Bayes optimisation was used to tune the hyperparameters of DT and RF regression. The modelling results indicated that CARS-PLS and DT did not extract specific wavelengths that could decrease the influences of growth stage effects. From the RF out-of-bag(OOB) evaluation, the sensitive wavelengths displayed consistent spectral shifts from BE to GP and from RE to RV from tillering to heading stages. Compared with CARS-PLS and DT,results of RF modelling yielded an estimation accuracy with deviation to performance(RPD) of 2.11, 2.02,3.21 and 3.02, which can accommodate the growth stage effects. Thus, this study explores spectral response on growth stage effects and provides models for chlorophyll content estimation to satisfy the requirement of high-throughput phenotyping.Dehua Gao Lang Qiao Lulu An Ruomei Zhao Hong Sun Minzan Li Weijie Tang Nan Wang 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,5:2
Spectroscopy-Based Soil Organic Matter Estimation in Brown Forest Soil Areas of the Shandong Peninsula, China显示文摘Soil organic matter (SOM) is important for plant growth and production. Conventional analyses of SOM are expensive and time consuming. Hyperspectral remote sensing is an alternative approach for SOM estimation. In this study, the diffuse reflectance spectra of soil samples from Qixia City, the Shandong Peninsula, China, were measured with an ASD FieldSpec 3 portable object spectrometer (Analytical Spectral Devices Inc., Boulder, USA). Raw spectral reflectance data were transformed using four methods: nine points weighted moving average (NWMA), NWMA with first derivative (NWMA + FD), NWMA with standard normal variate (NWMA + SNV), and NWMA with min-max standardization (NWMA + MS). These data were analyzed and correlated with SOM content. The evaluation model was established using support vector machine regression (SVM) with sensitive wavelengths. The results showed that NWMA + FD was the best of the four pretreatment methods. The sensitive wavelengths based on NWMA + FD were 917, 991, 1 007, 1 996, and 2 267 nm. The SVM model established with the above-mentioned five sensitive wavelengths was significant ( R 2 = 0.875, root mean square error (RMSE) = 0.107 g kg −1 for calibration set;R 2 = 0.853, RMSE = 0.097 g kg −1 for validation set). The results indicate that hyperspectral remote sensing can quickly and accurately predict SOM content in the brown forest soil areas of the Shandong Peninsula. This is a novel approach for rapid monitoring and accurate diagnosis of brown forest soil nutrients.GAO Lulu ZHU Xicun HAN Zhaoying WANG Ling ZHAO Gengxing JIANG Yuanmao 2019Pedosphere2019,29,6:2
Numerical Study on Seasonal Transportation of the Suspended Sediments in the Modern Yellow River Mouth Effected by the Artificial Water and Sediment Regulation显示文摘Since 2002, an artificial water and sediment regulation(AWSR) has been carried out, which largely reduced water and sediment discharged from the Yellow River into the Bohai Sea. Although the sediment transport in the Yellow River Mouth(YRM) has been observed and modeled intensively since AWSR, but preferentially for the non-storm conditions. In this study, a three-dimensional current-wave-sediment coupled model, DHI-MIKE numerical model, was used to examine the seasonal suspended-sediment transport in the YRM after the AWSR. Results show that the seasonal distribution of suspended-sediments in the YRM is dominated by wind and wave rather than river input. The major transport pathway of suspended-sediments is from the western Laizhou Bay to the Bohai Strait during the winter monsoon, especially in storm events. In addition, about 66% of the river sediments deposit within 30 km of the YRM, which is smaller than previous estimations. It suggests that the YRM has been eroded in recent decades.WANG Nan QIAO Lulu LI Guangxue ZHONG Yi SONG Dehai DING Dong GAO Fei JI Fengying 2019Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,1:2
Hazards of extreme events in China under different global warming targets显示文摘Changes in the frequency and intensity of extreme events affect the risk pattern of risk-bearing bodies and the effectiveness of response measures.Based on future climate scenario data,in this study,we identify global warming periods of 1.5℃ and 2℃ above pre-industrial levels, and the temporal and spatial patterns of temperature and precipitation in China during the same period, propose a methodology for risk assessment and integrated analysis of extreme events, build a database of extreme events and their hazards in China in the context of climate change, and assess the hazards caused by extreme events(i.e.,heatwaves,floods,and droughts)in China under different warming periods.Under the RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios, global temperatures increase by 1.5℃ and 2℃ above preindustrial levels by 2029 and 2026 and by 2050 and 2040,respectively.The warming would be fast in the north and slow in the south, the warming of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau would accelerate, and the precipitation would increase in the north and decrease in the south, but the trend of the precipitation reduction in the south would be more significant under the RCP8.5 scenario. For 2℃ of warming, the hazard index of severe heatwaves in the North China Plain, parts of South China, and the western part of Inner Mongolia would double that of 1.5℃ warming.Regional differences in extreme precipitation would increase, especially under the RCP8.5 scenario, the hazard index of severe floods in parts of East China would be about twice that of 1.5℃ warming.Under the joint influence of rising temperature and changing precipitation, the drought situation would be alleviated under the RCP4.5 scenario, but it is intensified under the RCP8.5 scenario. For 2℃ of warming, the hazard index of severe droughts in some areas would reach three times that of 1.5℃ warming. For the integrated hazard of the three types of extreme events, the areas of high and medium hazards would expand, while the areas of low hazard would decrease. For 2℃ of warming, the areas of high and medium hazards would be more than half the total area.Jiangbo Gao Lulu Liu Shaohong Wu 2020Big Earth Data2020,4,2:2
Efficient synthesis of dimethyl carbonate via transesterification of ethylene carbonate catalyzed by swelling poly(ionic liquid)s显示文摘The synthesis of dimethyl carbonate(DMC)via transesterification of ethylene carbonate(EC)and methanol(MeOH)was an environmental and practical strategy.Herein, poly(ionic liquid)s(PILs)with swelling abilities were synthesized by free radical copolymerization of N-vinylimidazolium ionic liquids, sodium 4-vinylbenzoate and cross-linker(1,8-triethylene glycoldiyl-3,3'-divinylimidazolium bromide([(EG)_(3)-DVIm]Br_(2)).The swelling abilities of PILs in various solvents were measured, and PILs could swell in methanol(MeOH).The swelling ability of PILs in MeOH could be modulated by changing the cross-linker content and chain length of 3-alkyl-substituents on imidazolium. The swollen state of PILs in MeOH presented a porous cross-linked network structure observed by the cryo-scanning electron microscope(cryo-SEM).The swelling PILs were used to catalyze the transesterification of ethylene carbonate(EC)and MeOH to prepare the DMC,and the catalytic activities was correlated with the swelling abilities of PILs.The PIL with 3-butyl-substituent and 2.5 mol%cross-linker(poly[VBIm-VBA-DVIm]-2.5%)had the highest swelling ratio(Q=12.4(g/g))in MeOH and EC mixed solvents and exhibited excellent catalytic activities, which was similar to corresponding homogeneous ionic liquid.Furthermore, the catalyst could be reused up to seven runs without any considerable loss of its initial activity.Xin Wang Hao Hu Bihua Chen Lulu Dang Guohua Gao 2021Green Chemical Engineering2021,2,4:2
Winter Meso-Scale Shear Front in the Yellow Sea and Its Sedimentary Effects显示文摘In this paper, the authors explored the presence of shear fronts between the Yellow Sea Coastal Current(YSCC) and the monsoon-strengthened Yellow Sea Warm Current(YSWC) in winter and their sedimentary effects within the shear zone based on a fully validated numerical model. This work added the wind force to a tidal model during simulating the winter baroclinic circulation in the Yellow Sea.The results indicate that the YSWC is significantly strengthened by wind-driven compensation due to a northeast monsoon during winter time. When this warm current encounters the North Shandong-South Yellow Sea coastal current, there is a strong reverse shear action between the two current systems, forming a reverse-S-shaped shear front that begins near 34?N in the south and extends to approximately 38?N,with an overall length of over 600 km.The main driving force for the formation of this shear front derives from the circulation system with the reverse flow.In the shear zone, temperature and salinity gradients increase, flow velocities are relatively small and the flow direction on one side of the shear zone is opposite to that on the other side. The vertical circulation structure is complicated, consisting of a series of meso-and small-scale anti-clockwise eddies.Particularly, this shear effect significantly hinders the horizontal exchange of coastal sediments carried by warm currents, resulting in fine sediments deposition due to the weak hydrodynamic regime.GAO Fei QIAO Lulu LI Guangxue 2016Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,1:1
