Ore-forming event and geodynamic setting of molybdenum deposit at Wenquan in Gansu Province,Western Qinling显示文摘The Wenquan molybdenum deposit is associated with a Triassic granite in this area. The Wenquan granite is enriched in LILE and LREE,poor in HFSE,and has significantly higher contents of alkali(K2O+Na2O) and Sr,Ba than those of the island arc volcanic rocks. These geochemical characteristics are similar to post-collisional granites in high K calc-alkaline series.Studies of major elements, trace elements,REEs and chronology of the Wenquan pluton show that,in the geodynamic transition stage of continent-continent convergence to extension, the partial melting of the enriched lithospheric mantle generated the basaltic magma and triggered the partial melting of the thickened lower crust which produceded the acidic magma, and the Wenquan pluton was formed by mixing of the two magmas.Molybdenite Re-Os isotopic dating gave Os model ages of 212.7±2.6 Ma to 215.1±2.6 Ma with a weighted mean of 214.1±1.1 Ma,and an Re-Os isochron age of 214.4±7.1 Ma.These ages are close to K-Ar ages(223 to 226 Ma) and a SHRIMP zircon U-Pb age(223±7 Ma) for the Wenquan granite within the error range, but relatively younger. This implies that the Mo mineralization occurred in a late stage of the magmatic intrusion, and the metallogenesis took place in the transition stage from syn-collision to post-collision in the tectonic setting of the Qinling Orogenic Belt(QOB) after continental collision be-tween the North China Block(NCB) and the South China Block(SCB).This process is also corre-sponding to the geological events of metamorphism and deformation in South Qinling, closure of the Mian-Lue oceanic basin, and exhumation of the Dabie-Sulu ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks. The large-scale continent-continent collision between NCB and SCB in the middle Triassic triggered sig-nificant crustal thickening and exhumation of subducted slab.In the late Triassic, the tectonic setting was transformed to the transition stage from collision to extension.Materials from the asthenospheric mantle would ascend into the root of the lower crust, which could induce partial melting of the lower crust and generate Mo-enriched granitic magma. The ore-forming elements enriched in the fluid derived from the condensation and fraction of the magma resulted in the Mo mineralization. The Mo deposits in the QOB are mainly formed in two episodes, namely 220± Ma and 140± Ma.The two episodes of metal-logenesis were developed in the tectonic transition settings from compression to extension, but they were in the different stages of the tectonic evolution. The occurrence of the Wenquan Mo-bearing plu-ton indicates that the Triassic tectonic-magmatic belt of Western Qinling is another favorable region for Mo mineralization in the QOB.Therefore,it is significant to pay more attention to evaluation of the ore-forming potentiality in the Triassic granites in Western Qinling.ZHU LaiMin DING ZhenJu YAO ShuZhen ZHANG GuoWei SONG ShiGang QU WenJun GUO Bo LEE Ben 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,13:12
He-Ar isotopic system of fluid inclusions in pyrite from the molybdenum deposits in south margin of North China Block and its trace to metallogenetic and geodynamic background显示文摘The helium and argon isotopic compositions of the ore-forming fluids from the molybdenum deposits such as Jinduicheng, Donggou, Shijiawan, and Sandaozhuang, which are located in the East Qinling molybdenum belt in south margin of North China Block (SMCNB), are reported in this paper. The origin and the evolution of the ore-forming fluids and their coupled-relationships with the intra-continental collision and orogenic process of Qinling Orogen in Mesozoic-Cenozoic have been discussed. The 3He/4He and 40Ar/36Ar values (3He/4He=1.38―3.64 Ra, and 40Ar/36Ar=295.68―346.39, respectively) of the fluid inclusions in pyrite from the molybdenum deposits in East Qinling suggest that, the ore-forming fluid system is mixed by two end members. One is the high temperature deep-derived fluid congenetic with the porphyries generated by crust-mantle mixing, and the other is the low-temperature meteoric water which is rich in crustal radiogenic He with the component of atmospheric Ar. From the Pb isotopic composition, and ore-bearing potential of the porphyry and the regional stratum, we can conclude that the ore-forming materials of the deposits in the East Qinling molybdenum belt are derived from the deep source by the mixing of lower crust and upper mantle. Therefore, the formation of the molybdenum deposits in SMNCB can be related to the crust-mantle interaction, which is accompanied by the intra-continental orogenic and extension process in the post-collision period of Qinling Orogen. The granitic porphyries which are related to Mo mineralization are not simple crust-remelting type granites or S type granites, but belong to syntexis-type or mantle-derived granites, hence their formation has a profound and regional geodynamic background.ZHU LaiMin ZHANG GuoWei GUO Bo LEE Ben 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,14:8
Petrogenesis and tectonic implications of Indosinian granitoids from Western Qinling Orogen,China:Products of magma-mixing and fractionation显示文摘The Western Qinling Orogen(WQO) is characterized by voluminous distribution of Indosinian granitoids, the formation of which provides an important window to unravel the geochemical and geodynamic evolution and associated metallogeny. Here we investigate a group of intrusions termed 'Five Golden Flowers' based on petrological, geochemical, zircon U-Pb geochronological and Lu-Hf isotopic studies on the granitoids and their mafic microgranular enclaves(MMEs).Our results show that these intrusions are genetically divided into two types,namely,magma-mixing and highly fractionated. The Jiaochangba,Lujing,Zhongchuan, and Luchuba granitoids are biotite monzogranites(220±0.8 Ma to 217±2.6 Ma) with abundant coeval MMEs(220±.1 Ma to 217±2.7 Ma).The rocks contain moderate to high SiO2,high MgO,Rb,Sr,Ba,and Th contents, but low TiO2,P2 O5,and Sc values,A/CNK of <1.1,and a range of εHf(t) values of-11.7 to +2.23 with corresponding TDM2values of 1967-1228 Ma.The MMEs possess K-feldspar megacrysts, abundant acicular apatites, and show lopsided textures. They have lower SiO2,Al2 O3,and Th contents, but higher MgO,TiO2,and Sc,with εHf(t) values of-18.0 to +3.18 and TDM1 of 849-720 Ma.The data indicate that the MMEs were derived from a magma sourced from the enriched lithospheric mantle. We suggest that these host granitoids were produced by partial melting of latePaleoproterozoic to early-Mesoproterozoic lower crust with the involvement of Neoproterozoic SCLM-derived mafic magmas. The Baijiazhuang pluton is dominantly composed of leucogranite(muscovite granite and twomica monzogranite,216±1.5 Ma) without MMEs.The rocks are peraluminous with high A/CNK(1.06-1.27).Compared with the other four granitoids, the Baijiazhuang leucogranite shows higher SiO2 content, markedly lower concentrations of TiO2,MgO,Al2 O3,CaO,and Fe2 O3T,and lower LREE/HREE and(La/Yb)N values. These leucogranites are also rich in Rb,Th,and U,and display marked depletions in Ba,Sr,Ti,and Eu,indicating that they experienced significant fractionation.Zircon εHf(t) values(-10.2 to-3.27) and TDM2(1868-1424 Ma),as well as the Nb/Ta and K2 O/Na2 O values are similar to the other four granitoids, indicating that they are likely to have been derived from a similar source;with sediments playing only a minor role in the magma generation. The low contents of Yb and Y suggest that their partial melting was controlled by garnets and micrographic texture of K-feldspar reflects high-temperature melting through undercooling.Based on the above features,we infer that the Baijiazhuang leucogranite likely represents the product of high degree fractionation of the I-type biotite monzogranite magma which generated the other four granitoids at relatively high temperatures, within magma chambers at mid-crust depths. We propose that the granitoid suite was formed in the transitional setting from synto post-collision during the collisional orogeny between the SCB and NCB,following break-off of the subducted South China Block lithosphere during 220-216 Ma.Xiao Xiong Laimin Zhu Guowei Zhang M.Santosh Hang Jiang Jun Zheng Anlin Guo Lele Ding 2020Geoscience Frontiers2020,11,4:6
Geological characteristics, metallogenic background, and genesis of the Tongyu VHMS copper deposit in the west part of the North Qinling,Shaanxi Province显示文摘The Tongyu volcanic-hosted massive sulfide(VHMS) copper deposit is located in the west part of the North Qinling(NQL),Shaanxi Province. Here we report geological features and trace elemental characteristics of ores, mineralized rocks, and volcanic host rocks of this deposit. We also conducted in situ zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf LA-ICP-MS dating and lithogeochemical study of the Meigou granodiorite, which is intruded in the south of the Tongyu mining district. It is inferred that the volcanic host rocks of the Tongyu Cu deposit belong to calc-alkaline island arc volcanic rocks, and the volcanic host rocks and the ore-forming materials share common material sources.During subduction of the Paleo-Qinling oceanic slab at around 472 Ma,high oxygen-fugacity aqueous fluid released by dehydration reaction of the subducting slab rose into the mantle wedge, leached Cu and other metal elements, and triggered partial melting of the mantle wedge.Associated with the ore-forming materials, the arc calc-alkaline magmas erupted and formed the Tongyu VHMS deposit. The weighted average zircon U-Pb age of the Meigou granodiorite is 439.3±3 Ma,suggesting its genesis is associated with the subduction event of the Paleo-Qinling oceanic plate around 440 Ma.In terms of the granitoid's geochemical characteristics, the Mg#,Ni,and Cr contents are high.REE show strongly fractionated patterns with unobvious Eu anomalies.Sr contents are high while Y contents are low, resulting in high Sr/Y ratios.Two-stage zircon Hf model ages mostly range between 908 and 723 Ma,with εHf(t)>0.Therefore,we classify Meigou granodiorite as island arc granite with adakitic geochemical features. It was generated by interaction between mantle wedge and melt produced by partial melting of the subducted basaltic slab of the Paleo-Qinling Ocean. The Tongyu VHMS deposit was formed in the island arc tectonic setting during Ordovician-Silurian between 439.3±3 Ma and 472±11 Ma.The volcanic exhalation-sedimentation,which was contemporaneous with the submarine volcanics, produced the primary mineralization of the Tongyu Cu deposit.Afterward, the ore bodies and host rocks were reworked and overprinted intensively by structures corresponding with the overall collisional orogenic process of the Qinling Orogenic Belt during the Indosinian period. In contrast to classic VHMS deposits such as the Kuroko deposit in Japan, the Tongyu Cu deposit possesses the dual characteristics of island arc volcanic exhalation and sedimentation as well as structural reworking and overprinting. Therefore, the Tongyu VHMS Cu deposit is a volcanic exhalation and sedimentation-structural reworking and overprinting type deposit.Ben Lee LaiMin Zhu GuoWei Zhang Bo Guo HuJun Gong AnPing Yao 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,10:5
Zircon U-Pb Geochronology and Geochemical Characteristics of the Volcanic Host Rocks from the Tongyu VHMS Copper Deposit in the Western North Qinling Orogen and Their Geological Significance显示文摘Precise in situ zircon U-Pb dating and Lu–Hf isotopic measurement using an LA-ICP-MS system, whole-rock major and trace element geochemistry and Sr–Nd isotope geochemistry were conducted on the volcanic host rocks of the Tongyu copper deposit on the basis of further understanding of its geological characteristics. Three zircon samples from the volcanic host rocks yielded 206Pb/238 U weighted average ages ranging from 436±4 Ma to 440±5 Ma, which are statistically indistinguishable and coeval with the ca. 440 Ma northward subduction event of the Paleo-Qinling oceanic slab. The volcanic host rocks were products of magmatic differentiation that evolved from basalt to andesite to dacite to rhyolite, forming an integrated tholeiitic island arc volcanic rock suite. The primitive mantle-normalized trace element patterns for most samples show characteristics of island arc volcanic rocks, such as relative enrichment of LILE(e.g. Th, U, Pb and La) and depletion of HFSE(e.g. Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr and Hf). Discrimination diagrams of Ta/Yb vs Th/Yb, Ta vs Th, Yb vs Th/Ta, Ta/Hf vs Th/Hf, Hf/3 vs Th vs Nb/16, La vs La/Nb and Nb vs Nb/Th all suggest that both the volcanic host rocks from the Tongyu copper deposit and the volcanic rocks from the regional Xieyuguan Group were formed in an island arc environment related to subduction of an oceanic slab. Values of ISr(0.703457 to 0.708218) and εNd(t)(-2 to 5.8) indicate that the source materials of volcanic rocks from the Tongyu copper deposit and the Xieyuguan Group originated from the metasomatised mantle wedge with possible crustal material assimilation. Most of the volcanic rock samples show good agreement with the values of typical island arc volcanic rocks in the ISr-εNd(t) diagram. The involvement of crustal-derived material in the magma of the volcanic rocks from the Tongyu copper deposit was also reflected in the zircon εHf(t) values, which range from-3.08 to 10.7, and the existence of inherited ancient xenocrystic zircon cores(2616±39 Ma and 1297±22 Ma). The mineralization of the Tongyu copper deposit shows syn-volcanic characteristics such as layered orebodies interbedded with the volcanic rock strata, thus, the zircon U-Pb age of the volcanic host rocks can approximately represent the mineralization age of the Tongyu copper deposit. Both the Meigou pluton and the volcanic host rocks were formed during the ca. 440 Ma northward subduction of the Paleo-Qinling Ocean when high oxygen fugacity aqueous hydrothermal fluid released by dehydration of the slab and the overlying sediments fluxed into the mantle wedge, triggered partial melting of the mantle wedge, and activated and extracted Cu and other ore-forming elements. The magma and ore-bearing fluid upwelled and erupted, and consequently formed the island arc volcanic rock suite and the Tongyu VHMS-type copper deposit.XIONG Xiao ZHU Laimin LI Ben ZHANG Guowei GONG Hujun ZHENG Jun JIANG Hang 2015Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2015,89,6:5
Geology and Lead-Sulphur Isotope Compositions of the Tongyu Volcanic-Hosted Massive Sulphide Copper Deposit in the Western Part of the North Qinling Orogen, China显示文摘The Tongyu copper deposit, located in the western part of the North Qinling Orogen, China, is one of several volcanic-hosted massive sulphide(VHMS) deposits with industrial value and is also a typical example of mineralization related to the subduction and metallogenesis during the Caledonian orogeny. We conducted systematic lead-sulphur isotope geochemical analyses of the Tongyu deposit to understand the possible ore-forming material sources and tectonic settings. Twenty-six sulphide samples yielded clustered δ^(34)S_(CDT) values of 1.13‰-3.36‰, average 2.22‰, and show a tower-type distribution, implying that the sulphur of the Tongyu copper deposit mainly originated from a mantle source. The Pb isotope compositions of sulphides(^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb = 17.59225-18.56354, average 18.32020; ^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb =15.51770-15.69381, average 15.66217; ^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb= 37.99969-39.06953, average 38.52722) are close to the values of the volcanic host rocks(^(206)Pb/^(204)Pb= 18.10678-18.26293, average 18.21158; ^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb =15.63196-15.68188, average 15.65345; ^(208)Pb/^(204)Pb= 38.43676-38.56360, average 38.49171), thus consistent with the Pb in ores and volcanic host rocks having been derived from a common source that was island-arc Pb related to oceanic crust subduction. The northward subduction of the Palaeo-Qinling oceanic crust triggered dehydration of the slab, which generated a large amount of high-oxygen-fugacity aqueous hydrothermal fluid. The fluid rose into the mantle wedge, activated and extracted metallogenic material and promoted partial melting of the mantle wedge. The magma and ore-forming fluid welled up and precipitated, finally forming the Tongyu VHMS copper deposit.GONG Hujun ZHU Laimin LI Ben XIONG Xiao DING Lele 2017Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2017,91,5:3

Zircon U-Pb ages and Hf isotopic characteristics of the Dehe biotite monzonitic gneiss pluton in the North Qinling orogen and their geological significance显示文摘The Dehe granitic pluton intruded the Xiahe Group which is in the core complex of the North Qinling Orogenic Belt(NQOB).It shows gneissic bedding and possesses typical S-type granite minerals such as muscovite and garnet.LA-ICP-MS U-Pb isotopic dating of the Dehe granite yielded a weighted average age of 925±23 Ma which represents the emplacement age of the pluton. Most of the εHf(t) values are negative, and the two-stage model ages are consistent with the age of the Qinling Group. The isotope data show that the Dehe granite was formed in the following geological setting:in the syn-collision setting of the NQOB in the Neoproterozoic, crustal thickening induced partial melting of materials derived from the Qinling complex, and then the maga upwelled and intruded into the Xiahe Group. The formation of the Dehe S-type granite implied the occurrence of a convergent event in the QOB during the Neoproterozoic.Wang, Fei Zhu, Laimin Li, Jiming Lee, Ben Gong, Hujun Yang, Tao Wang, Wei Xu, Ao 2011Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2011,30,2:1
