1Expression and subcellular localization of mechano-growth factor in osteoblasts under mechanical stretch显示文摘Mechano-growth factor (MGF) is a stretch sensitive factor in myocytes, and it might also be produced by other mechanocytes under mechanical stimulation. In this study, both the mRNA and protein expression of MGF were detected in stretched osteoblasts. Quantitative analysis showed that a cyclic stretching stimulation caused a quick and sharp increase of MGF mRNA and protein expression from a low basal level under no stretch; the mRNA and protein levels respectively peaked in 6 and 12 h to 5 and 5.2 fold over the basal level and returned to normal by 24 h. The subcellular distribution of MGF protein was revealed by immunofluorescence analysis to be restricted to the nucleus. 3Metastatic status of sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer determined with photoacoustic microscopy via dual-targeting nanoparticles显示文摘Detection of sentinel lymph nodes(SLNs)is critical to guide the treatment of breast cancer.However,distinguishing metastatic SLNs from normal and inflamed lymph nodes(LNs)during surgical resection remains a challenge.Here,we report a CD44 and scavenger receptor class B1 dual-targeting hyaluronic acid nanoparticle(5K-HA-HPPS)loaded with the near-infra-red fluorescent dye DiR-BOA for SLN imaging in breast cancer.The small sized(~40 nm)self-assembled 5K-HA-HPPSs accumulated rapidly in the SLNs after intradermal injection.Compared with normal popliteal LNs(N-LN),there were ~3.2-fold and ~2.4-fold increases in fluorescence intensity in tumour metastatic SLNs(T-MLN)and inflamed LNs(Inf-LN),respectively,6 h after nanoparticle inoculation.More importantly,photoacoustic microscopy(PAM)of 5KHA-HPPS showed a significantly distinct distribution in T-MLN compared with N-LN and Inf-LN.Signals were mainly distributed at the centre of T-MLN but at the periphery of N-LN and Inf-LN.The ratio of PA intensity(R)at the centre of the LNs compared with that at the periphery was 5.93±0.75 for T-MLNs of the 5K-HA-HPPS group,which was much higher than that for the Inf-LNs(R=0.2±0.07)and N-LNs(R=0.45±0.09).These results suggest that 5K-HA-HPPS injection combined with PAM provides a powerful tool for distinguishing metastatic SLNs from pLNs and inflamed LNs,thus guiding the removal of SLNs during breast cancer surgery.Yanfeng Dai Xiang Yu Jianshuang Wei Fanxin Zeng Yiran Li Xiaoquan Yang Qingming Luo Zhihong Zhang 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:6

5Impact of diabetes on prognosis of gastric cancer patients performed with gastrectomy显示文摘Objective: This study aimed to determine the impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2 DM) on clinical outcomes of gastric cancer(GC) patients and explore whether metformin use and good glycemic control could reverse it.Methods: Clinicopathologic data of consecutive GC patients who underwent gastrectomy at Nanfang Hospital between October 2004 and December 2015 were included. Propensity score matching(PSM) was performed to balance the important factors of the disease status between non-T2 DM and T2 DM group. The last follow-up time was January 2019.Results: A total of 1,692 eligible patients(1,621 non-T2 DM vs. 71 T2 DM) were included. After PSM, nonT2 DM group(n=139) and T2 DM group(n=71) were more balanced in baseline variables. The 5-year cancerspecific survival(CSS) rate in T2 DM group(47.0%) was inferior to that in non-T2 DM group(58.0%), but did not reach statistical significance [hazard ratio(HR)=1.319, 95% confidence interval(95% CI): 0.868-2.005, P=0.192].While the 5-year progress-free survival(PFS) rate of T2 DM group(40.6%) is significantly worse than that in nonT2 DM group(56.3%)(HR=1.516, 95% CI: 1.004-2.290, P=0.045). Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that T2 DM was an independent risk factor for PFS but not for CSS. In T2 DM group, metformin use subgroup was associated with superior 5-year CSS and PFS in compared with non-metformin use subgroup, although the difference was not statistically significant(5-year CSS: 48.0% vs. 45.4%, HR=0.680, 95% CI: 0.352-1.313,P=0.246;5-year PFS: 43.5% vs. 35.7%, HR=0.763, 95% CI: 0.400-1.454, P=0.406). The 5-year CSS rate was47.5% in good glycemic control subgroup and 44.1% in poor glycemic control subgroup(HR=0.826, 95% CI:0.398-1.713, P=0.605). And both two subgroups yielded a similar 5-year PFS rate(42.2% vs. 36.3%, HR=0.908,95% CI: 0.441-1.871, P=0.792).Conclusions: DM promoted disease progress of GC after gastrectomy but had not yet led to the significant discrepancy of CSS. 6Parallelized Implementation of the Finite Particle Method for Explicit Dynamics in GPU显示文摘As a novel kind of particle method for explicit dynamics,the finite particle method(FPM)does not require the formation or solution of global matrices,and the evaluations of the element equivalent forces and particle displacements are decoupled in nature,thus making this method suitable for parallelization.The FPM also requires an acceleration strategy to overcome the heavy computational burden of its explicit framework for time-dependent dynamic analysis.To this end,a GPU-accelerated parallel strategy for the FPM is proposed in this paper.By taking advantage of the independence of each step of the FPM workflow,a generic parallelized computational framework for multiple types of analysis is established.Using the Compute Unified Device Architecture(CUDA),the GPU implementations of the main tasks of the FPM,such as evaluating and assembling the element equivalent forces and solving the kinematic equations for particles,are elaborated through careful thread management and memory optimization.Performance tests show that speedup ratios of 8,25 and 48 are achieved for beams,hexahedral solids and triangular shells,respectively.For examples consisting of explicit dynamic analyses of shells and solids,comparisons with Abaqus using 1 to 8 CPU cores validate the accuracy of the results and demonstrate a maximum speed improvement of a factor of 11.2.Jingzhe Tang Yanfeng Zheng Chao Yang Wei Wang Yaozhi Luo 2020Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,1:2
7Effect of Shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei) Farming Waste on the Growth, Digestion, Ammonium-Nitrogen Excretion of Sea Cucumber(Stichopus monotuberculatus)显示文摘In this study, specific growth rate(SGR), ingestion rate(IR), food conversion ratio(FCR), apparent digestion ratio(ADR) and ammonium-nitrogen excretion were determined for sea cucumber(Stichopus monotuberculatus) reared in plastic containers(70 L; 4 containers each diet treatment). Sea cucumbers were fed with five diets containing different amounts of farming waste from shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei)(100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0) and a formulated compound(20% sea mud and 80% powdered algae). Sea cucumbers grew faster when they were fed with diet D(25% shrimp waste and 75% formulated compound) than those fed with other diets. Although IR value of sea cucumber fed with diet A(shrimp waste) was higher than those fed with other diets, both the lowest SGR and the highest FCR occurred in this diet group. The highest and the lowest ADR occurred in diet E(formulated compound) and diet A group, respectively, and the same to ammonium-nitrogen excretion. The contents of crude protein, crude lipid and total organic matter(TOM) in feces decreased in comparison with corresponding diets. 8A GPU-Based Parallel Algorithm for 2D Large Deformation Contact Problems Using the Finite Particle Method显示文摘Large deformation contact problems generally involve highly nonlinear behaviors,which are very time-consuming and may lead to convergence issues.The finite particle method(FPM)effectively separates pure deformation from total motion in large deformation problems.In addition,the decoupled procedures of the FPM make it suitable for parallel computing,which may provide an approach to solve time-consuming issues.In this study,a graphics processing unit(GPU)-based parallel algorithm is proposed for two-dimensional large deformation contact problems.The fundamentals of the FPM for planar solids are first briefly introduced,including the equations of motion of particles and the internal forces of quadrilateral elements.Subsequently,a linked-list data structure suitable for parallel processing is built,and parallel global and local search algorithms are presented for contact detection.The contact forces are then derived and directly exerted on particles.The proposed method is implemented with main solution procedures executed in parallel on a GPU.Two verification problems comprising large deformation frictional contacts are presented,and the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is validated.Furthermore,the algorithm’s performance is investigated via a large-scale contact problem,and the maximum speedups of total computational time and contact calculation reach 28.5 and 77.4,respectively,relative to commercial finite element software Abaqus/Explicit running on a single-core central processing unit(CPU).The contact calculation time percentage of the total calculation time is only 18%with the FPM,much smaller than that(50%)with Abaqus/Explicit,demonstrating the efficiency of the proposed method.Wei Wang Yanfeng Zheng Jingzhe Tang Chao Yang Yaozhi Luo 2021Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2021,,11:1
9Regulating Charge and Exciton Distribution in High-Performance Hybrid White Organic Light-Emitting Diodes with n-Type Interlayer Switch显示文摘The interlayer(IL) plays a vital role in hybrid white organic light-emitting diodes(WOLEDs); however,only a negligible amount of attention has been given to n-type ILs. Herein, the n-type IL, for the first time,has been demonstrated to achieve a high efficiency, high color rendering index(CRI), and low voltage trade-off.The device exhibits a maximum total efficiency of 41.5 lm W^(-1), the highest among hybrid WOLEDs with n-type ILs. In addition, high CRIs(80–88) at practical luminances(C1000 cd m^(-2)) have been obtained, satisfying the demand for indoor lighting. Remarkably, a CRI of 88 is the highest among hybrid WOLEDs. Moreover, the device exhibits low voltages, with a turn-on voltage of only 2.5 V([1 cd m^(-2)), which is the lowest among hybrid WOLEDs. The intrinsic working mechanism of the device has also been explored; in particular, the role of n-type ILs in regulating the distribution of charges and excitons has been unveiled. 13Infrared LSS-Target Detection Via Adaptive TCAIE-LGM Smoothing and Pixel-Based Background Subtraction显示文摘Infrared small target detection is a significant and challenging topic for daily security. This paper proposes a novel model to detect LSS-target (low altitude, slow speed, and small target) under the complicated background. Firstly, the fundamental constituents of an infrared image including the complexity and entropy are calculated, which are invoked as adaptive control parameters of smoothness. Secondly, the adaptive L0 gradient minimization smoothing based on texture complexity and information entropy (TCAIE-LGM) is proposed in order to remove noises and suppress low-amplitude details in infrared image abstraction. Finally, difference of Gaussian (DoG) map is incorporated into the pixel-based adaptive segmentation (PBAS) background modeling algorithm, which can differ LSS-target from the sophisticated background. 14Enhanced luminescence performances of Mn^(4+)-activated Sr_(4)Al_(14)O_(25)red phosphors by doping with Sc^(3+)ions显示文摘A series of non-rare earth Mn^(4+)-activated strontium aluminate phosphors Sr_(4)Al_(14)O_(25):Mn^(4+)co-doped with Sc^(3+)ions were successfully synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction method.XRD result reveals that there is no introduction of additional phase but expansion of lattice with incorporation of Sc34 ions.Excitation and emission spectrum measurement shows that the synthesized phosphors can be efficiently excited by near-ultraviolet and blue light,and a deep red emission centered at 652 nm with a narrow full width at half maximum(FWHM)can be obtained,which is attributed to the transition^(2)E→^(4)A_(2)of Mn^(4+)ions.In addition,the crystal field strength parameter(Dq)and Racah parameters(B,C)and energies of states were calculated based on experimental data.Moreover,the luminous intensity of Sr_(4)Al_(14-x)SCxO_(25):Mn^(4+)is enhanced and increased by 60%compared with Mn^(4+)single incorporated sample at x=0.06.A phenomenon of redshift is observed in the excitation spectrum and discussed systematically.Finally,the mechanism of the positive effects with Sc^(3+)ions incorporated into lattice is discussed in detail.All the results suggest that the Sr_(4)Al_(13.94)Sc_(0.06)O_(25):Mn^(4+)phosphor will become one of the great candidates for backlight of LCD.Lin Luo Ronghui Liu Yuanhong Liu Weidong Zhuang Yanfeng Li Shaowei Qin 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,4:1

17Vital role of hydroxyapatite particle shape in regulating the porosity and mechanical properties of the sintered scaffolds显示文摘The effect of particle shape on the porosity and compressive strength of porous hydroxyapatite(HA)scaffolds was investigated by sintering the mixture of rod-shaped HA(r-HA) and spherical HA(s-HA)with polyacrylamide used as the sacrificial template. It was found, for the first time, that addition of r-HA into s-HA could exponentially decrease the porosity of sintered HA scaffolds and enhance their compressive strength with the increase of r-HA content. The mechanism, according to the results from scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, lies in the restriction of s-HA to the grain formation and growth of r-HA during sintering and results in the fusion of r-HA with s-HA.
