| 1 | Distribution of different hepatitis C virus genotypes in patients with hepatitis C virus infection显示文摘AIM:To investigate the presence of mixed infection and discrepancy between hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotypes in plasma,peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs),and liver biopsy specimens.METHODS:From September 2008 up to April 2009,133 patients with chronic hepatitis C referred to Firouzgar Hospital for initiation of an antiviral therapy were recruited in the study.Five milliliters of peripheral blood was collected from each patient and liver biopsy was performed in those who gave consent or had indications.HCV genotyping was done using INNO-LiPATM HCV in serum,PBMCs,and liver biopsy specimens and then conf irmed by sequencing of 5'-UTR fragments.RESULTS:The mean age of patients was 30.3 ± 17.1 years.Multiple transfusion was seen in 124(93.2%) of patients.Multiple HCV genotypes were found in 3(2.3%) of 133 plasma samples,9(6.8%) of 133 PBMC samples,and 8(18.2%) of 44 liver biopsy specimens.It is notable that the different genotypes found in PBMCs were not the same as those found in plasma and liver biopsy specimens.CONCLUSION:Our study shows that a signif icant proportion of patients with chronic hepatitis C are affected by multiple HCV genotypes which may not be detectable only in serum of patients. | Farah Bokharaei Salim Hossein Keyvani Afsaneh Amiri Fatemeh Jahanbakhsh Sef idi Ramin Shakeri Farhad Zamani | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，16： | 5 |
| 2 | Optimization of Manganese and Magnesium Contents in As-cast Aluminum-Zinc-Indium Alloy as Sacrificial Anode显示文摘In this study, effects of manganese and magnesium content on the electrochemical properties of Al-Zn-In sacrificial anode were studied in 0.5 mol/L NaCl solution (pH=5). The aluminum base alloy with different amounts of Mn and Mg were melted at 750℃, then casted at molds at 25℃. Corrosion experiments were mounted to determine the optimal eeeect of Mn and Mg on the effciencies of the aluminum alloy anodes. The corroded and unexposed sample surfaces were subjected to microstructure characterization by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Al-Zn-In alloy doped with 0%, 0.01%, 0.05%.0.2% and 0.3% by weights of Mn and 0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5% and 3.0% by weights of Mg were prepared to determine the effect of Mn and Mg on anode effciency in the environment. The different microstructures of the evolved Al- Zn-In-Mg-Mn alloy were correlated with the anode effciencies. The Al-5.0%Zn-2.0%Mg-0.15%Mn-0.02%In gave the best anode effciency (about 83%). The microstructures of the corroded surface of the optimized alloy revealed decreased distribution of the pockets of localized attacks which are characteristics of pitting (or crevice) corrosion. | Mohammad R. | 3 | Asymptomatic seminal infection of herpes simplex virus:impact on male infertility显示文摘In more than half of infertile men,the cause of their infertility is unknown.Several studies revealed the role of viral infections in male infertility.The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) and HSV-2 in semen from asymptomatic infertile male patients,and its association with altered semen parameters.A total of 70 semen samples were collected from infertile men who attended the Research and Clinical Center for Infertility in Yazd,Iran.Semen analysis and diagnostic real-time PCR using specific primers and probes for HSV-1 and HSV-2 DNA were performed.Comparison of semen parameters between virally infected and non-infected samples were performed with independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test.Semen analysis showed that infertile men fell into two groups,the male factor group and the unexplained group.HSV-1 and HSV-2 DNA was detected in 16 (22.9%) and 10 (14.3%) of 70 semen samples,respectively.All HSV-positive samples had abnormal semen parameters (the male factor group).Although HSV infection was not associated with sperm motility and morphological defects,it was correlated with lower sperm count in the seminal fluid.The findings suggest that asymptomatic seminal infection of HSV plays an important role in male infertility by adversely affecting sperm count. | Seyed Hamidreza Monavari Mostafa Salehi vaziri Mohammadali Khalili Mahmoud Shamsi-Shahrabadi Hossein Keyvani Hamidreza Mollaei Mehdi Fazlalipour | 2013 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2013，27，1： | 4 |
