| 1 | Effect of molasses binder on the physical and mechanical properties显示文摘Molasses was used as an alternative binder to the bentonite binder. The change in moisture absorption by pellets prepared with different iron ores and different molasses contents were investigated. Iron ore properties exerted the major effect on pellet behavior and final pellet quality. The absorbed moisture content of pellets prepared without binder, bentonite-added pellets, and molasses-added pellets were in the range of 7.72%–9.95%, 9.62%–10.84%, and 6.14%-6.69%, respectively. The wet pellet compressive strength of molasses-added pellets(43–230 N/pellet) was superior to that of bentonite-added pellets(9.47–11.92 N/pellet). | 2 | Optimum chemotherapy in the management of metastatic pancreatic cancer显示文摘Pancreatic cancer is one of the most devastating solid tumors,and it remains one of the most difficult to treat.The treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer(MPC)is systemic,based on chemotherapy or best supportive care,depending on the performance status of the patient.Two chemotherapeutical regimens have produced substantial benefits in the treatment of MPC:gemcitabine in 1997;and FOLFIRIONOX in 2011.FOLFIRINOX improved the natural history of MPC,with overall survival(OS)of 11.1 mo.Nab-paclitaxel associated with gemcitabine is a newly approved regimen for MPC,with a median OS of 8.6 mo.Despite multiple trials,this targeted therapy was not efficient in the treatment of MPC.Many new molecules targeting the proliferation and survival pathways,immune response,oncofetal signaling and the epigenetic changes are currently undergoing phaseⅠandⅡtrials for the treatment of MPC,with many promising results. | Marwan Ghosn Hampig Raphael Kourie Fadi El Karak Colette Hanna Joelle Antoun Dolly Nasr | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,9: | 7 |

| 4 | Solar-Driven Hydrogen Peroxide Production Using Polymer-Supported Carbon Dots as Heterogeneous Catalyst显示文摘Safe, sustainable, and green production of hydro gen peroxide is an exciting proposition due to the role of hydrogen peroxide as a green oxidant and energy carrier for fuel cells. The current work reports the development of carbon dot-impregnated waterborne hyperbranched polyurethane as a heterogeneous photo-catalyst for solar-driven production of hydrogen peroxide. The results reveal that the carbon dots possess a suitable band-gap of 2.98 eV,which facilitates effective splitting of both water and ethanol under solar irradiation. Inclusion of the carbon dots within the eco-friendly polymeric material ensures their catalytic activity and also provides a facile route for easy catalyst separation, especially from a solubilizing medium.The overall process was performed in accordance with the principles of green chemistry using bio-based precursorsand aqueous medium. | 5 | Where does chemotherapy stands in the treatment of ampullary carcinoma? | 6 | Studies of grand minima in sunspot cycles by using a flux transport solar dynamo model显示文摘We propose that grand minima in solar activity are caused by simultaneous fluctuations in the meridional circulation and the Babcock–Leighton mechanism for the poloidal field generation in the flux transport dynamo model.We present the following results:(a)fluctuations in the meridional circulation are more effective in producing grand minima;(b)both sudden and gradual initiations of grand minima are possible;(c)distributions of durations and waiting times between grand minima seem to be exponential;(d)the coherence time of the meridional circulation has an effect on the number and the average duration of grand minima,with a coherence time of about 30 yr being consistent with observational data.We also study the occurrence of grand maxima and find that the distributions of durations and waiting times between grand maxima are also exponential,like the grand minima.Finally we address the question of whether the Babcock–Leighton mechanism can be operative during grand minima when there are no sunspots.We show that anα-effect restricted to the upper portions of the convection zone can pull the dynamo out of the grand minima and can match various observational requirements if the amplitude of thisα-effect is suitably fine-tuned. | Bidya Binay Karak Arnab Rai Choudhuri | 2013 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2013,13,11: | 2 |

| 19 | Major Soil Chemical Properties of the Major Tea-Growing Areas in India显示文摘Major chemical properties of tea-growing soils are of paramount importance for better management in a sustainable fashion.Therefore,this study was carried out to understand the major soil chemical properties of major tea(Camellia sinensis L.)-growing areas,Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts,in the state of Assam,India.A total of 991 surface soil samples were collected from 15 large tea estates(TEs) for analysis of their major chemical properties.Soil pH ranged from 3.61 to 6.81.Total organic carbon and total nitrogen ranged from 2.4 to 47.3 and 0.24 to 3.60 g kg^(-1),respectively.All soils were sufficiently rich in plant-available potassium(as K_2O),which ranged from 127.71 to 252.33 mg kg^(-1),exceeding the amount prescribed for optimum tea yield of > 100 mg kg^(-1).Plant-available sulfur among soil samples widely varied from 4 to 129 mg kg^(-1).Results of hierarchical clustering analysis for homogenous grouping of the 15 TEs based on soil chemical properties showed that the 15 TEs could be classified into three distinct groups which consisted of6,8 and 1 TEs,respectively.Based on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) test,the best fitted theoretical probability distributions were found out for different soil chemical properties.It could be concluded that a balanced fertilizer application would be needed as a part of tea improvement program using soil chemical test. | Tanmoy KARAK Ranjit Kumar PAUL Romesh Kumar BORUAH Indira SONAR Biswajyoti BORDOLOI Amrit Kumar DUTTA Borsha BORKOTOKY | 2015 | Pedosphere2015,25,2: | 1 |
