1Atheroprotective effects of antioxidants through inhibition of mitogen-activated protein kinases显示文摘Reactive oxygen species (ROS) have been known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and several other cardiovascular diseases. It is now apparent that ROS induce endothelial cell damage and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) growth and cardiac remodeling, which are associated with hypertension, atherosclerosis, heart failure, and restenosis. Several lines of evidence have indicated that ROS and mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinases were involved in vascular remodeling under various pathological conditions. Recently, it was also reported that MAP kinases were sensitive to oxidative stress. MAP kinases play an important role in cell differentiation, growth, apoptosis, and the regulation of a variety of transcription factors and gene expressions. Bioflavonoids and polyphenolic compounds are believed to be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of athero-sclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. One of the most widely distributed bioflavonoids, 3,3',4',5,7-penta-hydroxyflavone (quercetin) and its metabolite quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucuronide (Q3GA) inhibited Angiotensin Ⅱ-stimulated JNK activation and resultant hypertrophy of VSMC. Several studies have suggested that various antioxi-dants including probucol, N-acetyl-L-cysteine, diphenylene iodonium, Trolox C (vitamin E analogue), and vitamin C inhibit VSMC growth, which is associated with pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, inhibition of MAP kinases by antioxidant treatment may prove to be a therapeutic strategy for cardiovascular diseases. In contrast, some clinical studies have reported that antioxidant vitamins did not show beneficial effects in coron aryartery disease or in a number of high-risk people. 2Functional interaction of endoplasmic reticulum stress and hepatitis B virus in the pathogenesis of liver diseases显示文摘Hepatitis B virus(HBV) is a non-cytopathic virus that causes acute and chronic inflammatory liver diseases,often leading to the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Although many studies for the roles of HBV on pathogenesis of the liver diseases,such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),hepatic inflammation,cirrhosis,and HCC,have been reported,the mechanisms are not fully understood. Endoplasmic reticulum(ER) and mitochondria have the protective mechanisms to restore their damaged function by intrinsic or extrinsic stresses,but their chronic dysfunctions are associated with the pathogenesis of the various diseases. Furthermore,HBV can affect intraor extracellular homeostasis through induction of ER and mitochondrial dysfunctions,leading to liver injury. 3Primary esophageal diffuse large B cell lymphoma presenting with tracheoesophageal fistula: A rare case and review显示文摘Primary non-Hodgkin lymphomas in the esophagus are rare. Tracheoesophageal fistulas mainly arise from solid esophageal carcinoma or mediastinal malignancies. Our patient presented with cough, dysphagia and weight loss, and upon initial computed tomography imaging and esophagogastroduodenoscopy, a malignant mass in the middle third of esophagus with tracheoesophageal fistula was found. The location of the mass and presence of malignant tracheoesophageal fistula were strongly suggestive of squamous cell carcinoma. However, tumor biopsy revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. 4Sequence Information on Simple Sequence Repeats and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms through Transcriptome Analysis of Mungbean显示文摘Mungbean(Vigna radiata(L.) Wilczek) is a unique species in its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen,with early maturity,and relatively good drought resistance.We used 454 sequencing technology for transcriptome sequencing.A total of 150 159 and 142 993 reads produced 5 254 and 6 374 large contigs(≥500 bp) with an average length of 833 and 853 for Sunhwa and Jangan,respectively.Functional annotation to known sequences yielded 41.34% and 41.74% unigenes for Jangan and Sunhwa.A higher number of simple sequence repeat(SSR) motifs was identified in Jangan(1 630) compared with that of Sunhwa(1 334).A similar SSR distribution pattern was observed in both varieties.A total of 8 249 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and indels with 2 098 high-confidence candidates were identified in the two mungbean varieties.The average distance between individual SNPs was ~860 bp.Our report demonstrates the utility of transcriptomic data for implementing a functional annotation and development of genetic markers.We also provide large resource sequence data for mungbean improvement programs.Kyaw Thu Moe Jong-Wook Chung Young-Il Cho Jung-Kyung Moon Ja-Hwan Ku Jin-Kyo Jung Jungran Lee Yong-Jin Park 2011Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2011,53,1:4
5同种与不同种药物洗脱支架治疗后支架再狭窄的Meta分析显示文摘背景:冠心病患者发生药物洗脱支架再狭窄拟行再次支架置入治疗时选择何种类型药物支架尚无定论。目的:对比同种及不同种药物洗脱支架在治疗冠心病患者首次置入药物洗脱支架后发生再狭窄的有效性和安全性。方法:计算机检索1984年1月至2012年2月Pubmed数据库、EMBASE数据库、Cochrane图书馆、Google学术搜索及中国生物医学文献光盘等数据库中同种及不同种药物洗脱支架在治疗冠心病患者首次置入药物洗脱支架后发生再狭窄的临床试验,进行Meta分析。结果与结论:共纳入6篇,均包括首次置入药物洗脱支架后再次置入西罗莫司洗脱支架或紫杉醇洗脱支架的临床试验,共983例患者。同种与不同种药物洗脱支架处理首次药物洗脱支架置入后再狭窄在全因死亡(P=0.31,I2=14%,OR=0.92,95%CI[0.40,2.08])、再次心肌梗死发生(P=0.64,I2=0,OR=2.68,95%CI[1.00,7.24]、支架内血栓发生率(P=0.82,I2=0,OR=2.02,95%CI[0.37,11.08])及靶病变血管重建(P=0.63,I2=0,OR=1.15,95%CI[0.75,1.76])方面差异无显著性意义。提示同种与不同种药物洗脱支架治疗药物洗脱支架再狭窄的有效性及安全性无差异。李盈 李浪 苏强 Kyaw Aung Naing 2013中国组织工程研究2013,17,3:3
6New contributions to the flora of Myanmar I显示文摘In this study, we describe several new taxa belonging to the flora of Myanmar. One new family, Polyosmaceae (Polyosma wallichii Benn.) is recorded. Over ten new genera are recorded for the first time, including Amentotaxus Pilger (Taxaceae), Hydrobryopsis Engler (Podostemaceae), Cyrtosia Blume and Biermannia King & Pantling (Orchidaceae), Eleutharrhena Forman and Haematocarpus Miers (Menispermaceae), Craigia W.W. Smith & W.E. Evans (Malvaceae), Amblyanthopsis Mez (Primulaceae), Huodendron Rehder and Rehderodendron Hu (Styracaceae), Platea Blume (Metteniusaceae), Achyrospermum Blume (Lamiaceae), Christisonia Gardner (Orobanchaceae). In addition, five new species are described and illustrated: Tupistra natmataungensis Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Biermannia burmanica Y.H. Tan & Bin Yang, Impatiens megacalyx Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Amblyanthopsis burmanica Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding, Platea kachinensis Y.H. Tan & H.B. Ding. 8Hepatitis C virus therapy with peg-interferon and ribavirin in Myanmar: A resource-constrained country显示文摘AIM To investigate peg-interferon(peg-IFN) and ribavirin(RBV) therapy in Myanmar and to predict sustained virologic response(SVR).METHODS This single-center, open-label, study was conducted in Myanmar between 2009 and 2014. A total of 288 patients infected with HCV genotypes 1, 2, 3 and 6 were treated with peg-IFN alpha-2a(180 μg/wk) or alpha-2b(50 to 100 μg as a weight-based dose) and RBV as a weight-based dose(15 mg/kg/d). Treatment duration was 48 wk for genotypes 1 and 6, 24 wk for genotype 2, and 24 or 48 wk for genotype 3 based on rapid virologic response(RVR). Those co-infected with hepatitis B received 48 wk of therapy.RESULTS Overall, SVR was achieved for 82% of patients and the therapy was well tolerated. All patients achieved SVR at equivalent rates regardless of HCV genotype(P = 0.314). Low fibrosis scores(P < 0.001), high baseline albumin levels(P = 0.028) and low baseline viral loads(P = 0.029) all independently predicted SVR. On the other hand, IL-28 B TT and CC genotypes were not found to significantly predict SVR(P = 0.634; P = 0.618). Among those who completed treatment, the occurrence of RVR showed a > 96% positive predictive value for achieving SVR. Treatment duration did not significantly impact the likelihood of achieving SVR for patients infected with genotype 3 HCV(P = 0.371). The most common adverse events were fatigue(71%) and poor appetite(60%). Among patients with genotype 3 HCV, more patients in the 48-wk treatment group required erythropoietin than in the 24-wk treatment group(61.1% vs 49.2%).CONCLUSION SVR rates were high with peg-IFN and RBV therapy in Myanmar. 9Complete mitochondrial genome of the leaf muntjac(Muntiacus putaoensis) and phylogenetics of the genus Muntiacus显示文摘The leaf muntjac(Muntiacus putaoensis) is an endemic deer species found in the east transHimalayan region. In recent years, population numbers have decreased due to heavy hunting and habitat loss, and little genetic data exists for this species, thus our knowledge of distribution rangs and population sizes likewise remain limited. We obtained mt DNA genes and the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of M. putaoensis using PCR, followed by direct sequencing. The complete mitogenome sequence was determined as a circular 16 349 bp mitochondrial genome, containing 13 protein-coding genes, two r RNA genes, 22 t RNA genes, and one control region, the gene composition and order of which were similar to most other vertebrates so far reported. Most mitochondrial genes, except for ND6 and eight t RNAs, were encoded on the heavy strand. The overall base composition of the heavy strand was 33.1% A, 29.3% T, 24.2% C, and 13.4% G, with a strong AT bias of 62.4%. There were seven regions of gene overlap totaling 95 bp and 11 intergenic spacer regions totaling 74 bp. Phylogenetic analyses(ML and BI) among the Muntiacus genus based on the sequenced of mitogenome and ND4 L-ND4 supported M. putaoensis as a member of Muntiacus, most closely related to M. vuquangensis. However, when analyses based on cyt b included two more muntjacs, M. truongsonensis was most closely related to M. putaoensis rather than M. vuquangensis, and together with M. rooseveltorum, likely forming a M. rooseveltorum complex of the species. 10Effects of 2, 4-Dichlorophenoxy Acetic Acid andLight on Growth of Gerbera (Gerbera jamesoniicv. Daxueju) Callus显示文摘This study was conducted to determine effects of 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid(2,4-D) and light on growth of gerbera(Gerbera jamesonii cv. Daxueju) callus. Callus was induced from both petiole and leaf explants of gerbera on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 3% sucrose and various concentrations of 2,4-D and placed under light and dark. Callus induction percentage, callus size and callus fresh and dry weights were efficiently higher when using petiole as explant. MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/L 2,4-D showed the highest callus induction percentage of 96.70%. Callus induced under light had larger weight mass. 13Amino acid digestibility of heat damaged distillers dried grains with solubles fed to pigs显示文摘The primary objective of this experiment was to determine the effects of heat treatment on the standardized ileal digestibility(SID) of amino acids(AA) in corn distillers dried grains with solubles(DDGS) fed to growing pigs. The second objective was to develop regression equations that may be used to predict the concentration of SID AA in corn DDGS. A source of corn DDGS was divided into 4 batches that were either not autoclaved or autoclaved at130°C for 10, 20, or 30 min. Four diets containing DDGS from each of the 4 batches were formulated with DDGS being the only source of AA and CP in the diets. A N-free diet also was formulated and used to determine the basal endogenous losses of CP and AA. Ten growing pigs(initial BW: 53.5 ± 3.9 kg) were surgically equipped with a T-cannula in the distal ileum and allotted to a replicated 5 × 4 Youden square design with 5 diets and 4 periods in each square. The SID of CP decreased linearly(P < 0.05) from 77.9% in non-autoclaved DDGS to 72.1, 66.1, and 68.5% in the DDGS samples that were autoclaved for 10, 20, or 30 min, respectively. The SID of lysine was quadratically reduced(P < 0.05) from 66.8% in the non-autoclaved DDGS to 54.9, 55.3, and 51.9% in the DDGS autoclaved for 10, 20, or30 min, respectively. The concentrations of SID Arginine, Histidine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, or Threonine may be best predicted by equations that include the concentration of acid detergent insoluble N in the model(r2= 0.76, 0.68, 0.67, 0.84, 0.76, 0.73, or 0.54, respectively). The concentrations of SID Isoleucine and Valine were predicted(r2= 0.58 and 0.54, respectively) by the Lysine:CP ratio, whereas the concentration of SID Tryptophan was predicted(r2= 0.70) by the analyzed concentration of Tryptophan in DDGS.
