2A win-win technique of stabilizing sand dune and purifying paper mill black-liquor显示文摘The principle and technique were reported here to produce lignin-based sand stabilizing material (LSSM) using extracted lignin from black liquor of straw paper mills. Field tests using LSSM to stabilize and green sand dunes were started in 2002. The field experiment was carried out in August 2005 when the newly formed plant community was 3 years old. The results from the comprehensive field experiment demonstrated that unlike polyvinyl acetate or foamed asphalt commonly used for dune stabilization, LSSM was plant- friendly material and could be used in combination with seeding and planting of desert species. With the help of LSSM, the desert species (i.e., Agriophyllum squarrosum (L.) Moq. and Artemisia desertorum Spreng. etc.) could be used to form community in 2-3 yeas and to stabilize sand dune effectively. The newly formed community was sustainable under an extremely dry climate condition. 4Characteristics of Cd isotopic compositions and their genetic significance in the lead-zinc deposits of SW China显示文摘Up to now,the evaporation and condensation,as well as the biological absorption and inorganic absorptions,have been proved to be major factors in Cd isotope fractionation.And Cd isotopes have been widely applied in studies on the universal evolution and marine environment and so on.However,only a few researches have been conducted in applying Cd isotopes to trace the source of metallogenic material and the evolution of the ore-forming fluid in a complex mineralization environment,especially in a hydrothermal ore-formation system.We measured the Cd isotopic compositions of sphalerite,galena,and ores from five lead-zinc deposits in SW China,and found that the 114/110Cd values varied from 1.53‰to 0.34‰,with a total range of1.87‰,which is greater than most of measured geological samples.Meanwhile,through contrasting the Cd content with Cd isotopic compositions of different deposits,it may be concluded that different genetic lead-zinc deposits have different Cd content and isotopic compositions,which could be a tool for the studies on the origin of ore deposits.Also,the biomineralization and crystal fractionation may also result in Cd isotope fractionation.In a word,although the research of Cd isotopes is presently at the preliminary stage(especially in hydrothermal ore-formation system),this study demonstrated that Cd isotopes can give a clue in tracing the evolution of ore-forming fluid and metallogenic environment.ZHU ChuanWei WEN HanJie ZHANG YuXu FAN HaiFeng FU ShaoHong XU Juan QIN TingRong 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,12:14
5Geochemistry of rare earth elements in the mid-late Quaternary sediments of the western Philippine Sea and their paleoenvironmental significance显示文摘Based on a δ18O chronology,rare earth elements(REE) and other typical elements in sediments from core MD06-3047 in the western Philippine Sea were analyzed to constrain the provenances of the sediments and investigate quantitative changes in the Asian eolian input to the study area over the last 700 ka.Among the competing processes that might affect REE compositions,sediment provenance is the most important one.Provenance analysis suggests that the study sediments have two provenance end-members;local volcanic sources are dominant,and eolian dust from the Asian continent has a smaller contribution.During glacial periods,eolian input to the western Philippine Sea was enhanced.In contrast,material supply from local volcanics increased during interglacial periods.Changes in eolian input to the study area were probably related to the strength of the East Asian winter monsoon(EAWM) as well as aridity in the Asian continent on an orbital time scale,and were partly influenced by local control factors on shorter time scales.Therefore,we propose that the present study expands the application of the REE-based method for quantitatively estimating the eolian component from the mid-latitude northern Pacific to the low-latitude western Pacific.Additionally,the study preliminarily confirms the influence of EAWM-transported eolian material on sedimentation in the western Philippine Sea since 700 ka.XU ZhaoKai LI TieGang WAN ShiMing YIN XueBo JIANG FuQing SUN HanJie JinYong CHOI DhongIl LIM 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4:10
6Calculating models of mass action concentrations for NaBr(aq), LiNO_3(aq), HNO_3(aq), and KF(aq) binary solutions显示文摘The calculating models of mass action concentrations for electrolyte aqueous solutions NaBr-H2O, LiNO3-H2O, HNO3-H2O, and KF-H2O have been developed at 298.15 K and their molalities ranging from 0.1 mol/kg to saturation according to the ion and molecule coexistence theory as well as mass action law. The calculated mass action concentration is based on pure species as the standard state and the mole fraction as the concentration unit, and the reported activities are usually based on infinite dilution as the standard state and molality as the concentration unit. Hence, the calculated mass action concentration must be transformed to the same standard state and concentration unit. The transformation coefficients between calculated mass action concentrations and reported ac- tivities of the same component fluctuate in a very narrow range. Thus, the transformed mass action concentrations not only agree well with reported activities, but also strictly obey mass action law. The calculated results show that the new developed models can embody the intrinsic structure of investigated four electrolyte aqueous solutions. 7Mo isotopes in the Lower Cambrian formation of southern China and its implications on paleo-ocean environment显示文摘Over the past decade, as one of nontraditional stable isotopes, Mo isotope has developed rapidly and now become an important geochemical proxy to trace paleo-oceanic and atmospheric evolution through geological history. In this paper, Early Cambrian formations in southern China are investigated. The results indicate that δ 97/95Mo values of Early Cambrian seawater may have been larger than 1.4‰, values that are close to those of the modern ocean. It was also found that the variations in Mo isotope composition in samples from two sections (Huangjiawan and Gezhongwu in Guizhou) were closely related to changes in redox conditions during sedimentary processes. Combining our results with existing data, a preliminary model for the evolution of seawater Mo isotope composition through geological history was provided. 8The mixing of multi-source fluids in the Wusihe Zn–Pb ore deposit in Sichuan Province, Southwestern China显示文摘The Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou(SYG)metallogenic province of southwest China is one of the most important Zn-Pb ore zones in China,with^200 Mt ZnPb ores at mean grades of 10 wt.%Zn and 5 wt.%Pb.The source and mechanism of the regional Zn-Pb mineralization remain controversial despite many investigations that have been conducted.The Wusihe Zn-Pb deposit is a representative large-scale Zn-Pb deposit in the northern SYG,which mainly occurs in the Dengying Formation and yields Zn-Pb resources of^3.7 Mt.In this paper,Zn and S isotopes,and Fe and Cd contents of sphalerite from the Wusihe deposit were investigated in an attempt to constrain the controls on Zn and S isotopic variations,the potential sources of ore-forming components,and the possible mineralization mechanisms.Both theδ66Zn andδ34S values in sphalerite from the Wusihe deposit increase systematically from the bottom to the top of the strata-bound orebodies.Such spatial evolution inδ66Zn andδ34S values of sphalerite can be attributed to isotopic Rayleigh fractionation during sphalerite precipitation with temperature variations.The strong correlations between the Zn-S isotopic compositions and Fe-Cd concentrations in sphalerite suggest that their variations were dominated by a similar mechanism.However,the Rayleigh fractionation mechanism cannot explain the spatial variations of Fe and Cd concentrations of sphalerite in this deposit.It is noted that the bottom and top sphalerites from the strata-bound orebodies document contrasting Zn and S isotopic compositions which correspond to the Zn and S isotopic characteristics of basement rocks and host rocks,respectively.Therefore,the mixing of two-source fluids with distinct Zn-S isotopic signatures was responsible for the spatial variations of Zn-S isotopic compositions of sphalerite from the Wusihe deposit.The fluids from basement rocks are characterized by relatively lighter Zn(~0.2‰)and S(~5‰)isotopic compositions while the fluids from host rocks are marked by relatively heavier Zn(~0.6‰)and S(~15‰)isotopic compositions.Hongjie Zhang Haifeng Fan Chaoyi Xiao Hanjie Wen Lin Ye Zhilong Huang Jiaxi Zhou Qingjun Guo 2019Acta Geochimica2019,38,5:6
9Marine Redox Conditions in the Early Cambrian Ocean: Insights from the Lower Cambrian Phosphorite Deposits, South China显示文摘It is generally considered that a significant change in oceanic redox conditions occurred during the Ediacaran–Cambrian transition. However, there are currently two major conflicting views on the degree of oxygenation of deep water(oxic vs. ferruginous) during this interval. To date, the oxygenation conditions of the Early Cambrian ocean have not been well constrained. The oxygenation magnitude and mechanism of the Early Cambrian ocean could be critical to the significant biological evolution of the 'Cambrian Explosion'. To constrain the Early Cambrian oceanic redox environment, we conducted an integrated study on iron and sulfur isotopes and redox-sensitive elements(Mo, U, and V) of Lower Cambrian phosphorite deposits from two shallow sections(Meishucun and Gezhongwu) and a deeper water section(Zunyi) from the Yangtze Platform, South China. The near zero δ^(56)Fe values from the two shallow sections studied here reflect oxic conditions in the lower phosphorite deposition. An obvious positive shift in δ^(56)Fe and redox-sensitive element content was observed in the middle parts of the two shallow water sections, which might reflect loss of light iron by dissimilatory iron reduction during early diagenesis under suboxic shallow water in the platform. However, the highly positive δ^(56)Fe values in the deep section could reflect a lower oxidation degree of dissolved Fe(II) under anoxic deep water. The data suggest redox-stratified oceanic conditions during the Early Cambrian, in which completely oxygenated shallow water(platform) coexisted with anoxic deep water(slope). We propose that prolonged upwelling of dissolved organic carbon(DOC)-, Fe(II)- and phosphorus-rich anoxic deep water in a redox-stratified ocean could have increased exchange with the open ocean, resulting in major phosphorite deposition in oxic-suboxic conditions. 10Large selenium isotopic variations and its implication in the Yutangba Se deposit, Hubei Province, China显示文摘The selenium isotopic ratios have been measured in the Yutangba Se deposit, Hubei Province, China. The results show that the δ 82/76SeNIST values vary from -12.77‰ to 4.93‰, which is the largest Se iso- topic variation found so far in natural terrestrial samples. The sample Ytb-5 of high-selenium carbona-ceous shale has the lightest Se isotopic composition with a δ 82/76SeNIST value of -12.77‰. On the basis of variations of Se isotope in the deposit along with other geological and geochemical evidence, the 'redox model' is suggested to favor the explanation of the occurrence of native Se in the deposit. 11Universal thermodynamic model of calculating the mass action concentrations of omponents in a ternary strong electrolyte aqueous solution and its application in the NaCl-KCl-H_2O system显示文摘A universal thermodynamic model of calculating the mass action concentrations of components in a ternary strong elec-trolyte aqueous solution has been developed based on the ion and molecule coexistence theory,and verified in the NaCl-KCl-H2O ternary system at 298.15 K. To compare the difference of the thermodynamic model in binary and ternary strong electrolyte aqueous solutions,the mass action concentrations of components in the NaCl-H2O binary strong electrolyte aqueous solution were also com-puted at 298.15K. A transformation coefficient was required to compare the calculated mass action concentration and reported activ-ity because they were obtained at different standard states and concentration units. The results show that the transformation coeffi-cients between calculated mass action concentrations and reported activities of the same components change in a very narrow range. The calculated mass action concentrations of components in the NaCl-H2O and NaCl-KCl-H2O systems are in good agreement with the reported activities. 12Molybdenum isotopic composition as a tracer for low-medium temperature hydrothermal ore-forming systems:A case study on the Dajiangping pyrite deposit,western Guangdong Province,China显示文摘Little is known about the range or controls on the molybdenum isotopic composition of low-medium temperature hydrothermal ore-forming systems.We present molybdenum isotope data from 12 hydrothermal syndepositional silicalite and carbonaceous slate samples from the Dajiangping pyrite deposit in western Guangdong Province,South China.The δ 97/95Mo values from Orebody III range from ?0.02‰ to 0.29‰,with an average of 0.18‰.In contrast,the composition values from Orebody IV display a larger variation from ?0.70‰ to 0.62‰.However,the five samples from the main ore bed all show strong negative values.This indicates that the significant variation in molybdenum isotopic composition supports different hydrothermal ore-forming metallogenesis and a metallogenic environment between the two orebodies.Orebody III is likely to have been deposited from submarine exhalative hydrothermal fluids under a relatively strong reducing environment and Orebody IV may have also been influenced by hydrothermal superimposition in a more oxidized disequilibrium condition.In addition,the δ 97/95Mo values of Orebody IV are clearly negative,together with the values increasing stratigraphically upward in the ore beds,suggesting that the metallogenic environment of Orebody IV is different from the open oceanic systems.There might be dynamic fractionation in this restricted environment.Therefore,the molybdenum isotope can be used as an effective tracer for the ore-forming fluid and metallogenic environment.SONG ShiMing HU Kai WEN HanJie ZHANG YuXu LI Kuang FAN HaiFeng 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,21:4

14-ree vibration analysis of cracked thin plates by quasi-convex coupled isogeometric-meshfree method显示文摘The free vibration analysis of cracked thin plates via a quasi-convex coupled isogeometric-meshfree method is presented. This formulation employs the consistently coupled isogeometric-meshfree strategy where a mixed basis vector of the convex B-splines is used to impose the consistency conditions throughout the whole problem domain. Meanwhile, the rigid body modes related to the mixed basis vector and reproducing conditions are also discussed. The mixed basis vector simultaneously offers the consistent isogeometric-meshfree coupling in the coupled region and the quasi-convex property for the meshfree shape functions in the meshfree region, which is particularly attractive for the vibration analysis. The quasi-convex meshfree shape functions mimic the isogeometric basis function as well as offer the meshfree nodal arrangement flexibility. Subsequently, this approach is exploited to study the free vibration analysis of cracked plates, in which the plate geometry is exactly represented by the isogeometric basis functions, while the cracks are discretized by meshfree nodes and highly smoothing approximation is invoked in the rest of the problem domain. 15Super-enrichment of lithium and niobium in the upper Permian Heshan Formation in Pingguo,Guangxi,China显示文摘The upper Permian Heshan Formation in Pingguo,Guangxi,China,is strongly enriched in lithium(Li)and niobium(Nb).The lower bauxite layer contains 0.02–0.04 wt.%Nb_(2)O_(5)(averaging 0.035 wt.%),and the overlying clay rock layer contains 0.06–1.05 wt.%Li_(2)O(averaging 0.44 wt.%),both of which exceed the cut-off grades for independent Li and Nb deposits and are therefore highly prospective.In this study,a preliminary discussion of the genesis of the Li and Nb enrichment is presented to serve as a reference for the investigation,evaluation,and prospecting for clay-and sedimentary-type Li and Nb ores in other regions.The preliminary conclusions are that:(1)The bauxite ore contains abundant anatase,which positively correlates with the whole-rock concentrations of TiO_(2) and Nb,indicating that the Nb is hosted mainly in the anatase;(2)the cookeite content in the clay rock positively correlates with the whole-rock Li concentration,indicating that cookeite is the main carrier mineral of Li,and its genesis can be attributed to reactions between clay minerals(e.g.,pyrophyllite and illite)and Li-Mg-rich underground brine or pore water and groundwater in coastal areas;and(3)provenance analysis of immobile elements(Al,Ti,Nb,Ta,Zr,Hf,and rare earth elements)suggests distinct sources for the Nb-rich bauxite and the overlying Li-rich clay rocks,with the bauxite and Nb originating largely from alkaline felsic rocks in the Emeishan Large Igneous Province,and the clay rocks being derived from peraluminous or moderately fractionated felsic rocks associated with Permian Paleo-Tethyan magmatic arcs.Kunyue LING Hanjie WEN Qizuan ZHANG Chongguang LUO Hannian GU Shengjiang DU Wenxiu YU 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,5:4
16Isotopic Geochemistry of Cadmium:A Review显示文摘Cadmium(Cd) is a scarce, but not an extremely rare element in the Earth's crust(crustal average: 0.2 ppm Cd). Geochemically, Cd exhibits thiophile, lithophile, and volatile behavior in different geologic processes. Biologically, it is a nutrient-like element that is closely related to P and Zn and is toxic element to organisms. Presently, Cd isotopes have been successfully utilized to trace Cd sources and nutrient cycling in marine systems in addition to unearthing other geochemical processes. Using published studies and our recent work, this survey summarizes the chemical preparation and mass spectrometry of Cd isotopes. 17Calcareous nannofossil bioevents and microtektite stratigraphy in the Western Philippine Sea during the Quaternary显示文摘Two sediment cores, MD06-3050 and MD06-3047, were analyzed to study the Quaternary calcareous nannofossil and microtektite records. We dated bioevents and the microtektite impact event by calibrating with oxygen isotope stratigraphy. Seven calcareous nannofossil bioevents were identified over the past 2.36 Ma including the last appearance of data for Discoaster brouweri, Calcidiscus macintyrei, large Gephyrocapsa and Pseudoemiliania lacunosa, the first appearance of data for large Gephyrocapsa and Emiliania huxleyi, and the abrupt increase in the abundance of Gephyrocapsa caribbeanica. 18Radiative forcing and temperature response of dust aerosols over East Asia in the latest decade显示文摘A regional climate model,RegCM3,coupled with an online dust module,is used to simulate the radiative forcing(RF) and temperature response of dust aerosols over East Asia in the latest decade(2000-2009).The simulation results show that the geographical and seasonal differences of dust aerosols distribution over East Asia are obvious.There exist two extremes of dust aerosols with column burden(CB) greater than 1,000 mg/m 2 ;one is in the Taklimakan Desert of the Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous Region,China,and the other is in the Badain Jaran Desert of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region,China.The maximum value of CB appears in spring,the secondary maximum in winter,and the minimum in autumn.The RF of dust aerosols has distribution characteristics similar to CB.The regional averaged RF over East Asia at the top of atmosphere(TOARF) is 1.72 W/m2 in spring and 1.17 W/m2 in autumn,and that at the surface(SURRF) is 4.34 W/m2 in spring and 2.33 W/m2 in autumn.The temperature at the surface is decreased by dust aerosols;the regional averaged temperature decrease over East Asia is 0.154 °C in spring and 0.085 °C in autumn.There are different impacts of dust aerosols on air temperature at different heights.The air temperature is decreased by dust aerosols in the lower troposphere,but the extent of the decrease diminishes with increasing height.The air temperature is in fact increased by dust aerosols at the height of 300-400 hPa in spring,which is greatly different from that in autumn.XingTao Su HanJie Wang ZhiBiao Zhang 2012Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,4:3
19Determination of total selenium in geological samples by HG-AFS after concentration with thiol cotton fiber显示文摘Standard reference material and different geological samples were dissolved by system A (the mixture of nitric and perchloric acids) and system B (mixture of nitric, perchloric and hydrofluoric acids), and total Se in all samples was measured by hydride-generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS) after concentration with thiol cotton fiber (TCF). The analytical results obtained by the two digestion method are in good agreement (within the limit of errors) for most of the samples, particularly for those having recommended values. The Se concentrations determined by the two methods are of no difference, and the correlation coefficient is 0.9986; the relative standard deviation (RSD) for the determination of 0.04 μg/g Se is 10.2%. 20Simulation on the spatio-temporal distribution and emission flux of dust aerosol over East Asia in 2000-2009显示文摘A regional climate model (RegCM3), coupled with an online dust module, is used to simulate the spatio-temporal distribution and emission flux of dust aerosol (smaller than 20 μm in diameter) over East Asia in the period from 2000 to 2009. The model performance is firstly evaluated against available observations. Simulation results show that the model can capture the characteristics of spatio-temporal distribution of dust aerosol very well over East Asia. There always exist two extremes of dust aerosol optical depth (AOD) and column burden (CB), one is in the Taklimakan Desert of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, and the other is in the Badain Jaran Desert of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, China. The maximum value of CB appears in spring, secondary maximum in winter and minimum in autumn. To the east of 110°E, dust is transported eastward from a maximum center at a height of 700 hPa over the East Asian continent. Dust emission sources are mainly located in the Taklimakan Desert, Badain Jaran Desert, North Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and Southwest Mongolia. There is also an obvious seasonal variation of dust emission flux (EF).
