| 4 | Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of norovirus gastroenteritis among hospitalized children in Lebanon显示文摘AIM To assess the burden of norovirus(No V) and to determine the diversity of circulating strains among hospitalized children in Lebanon. METHODS Stool samples were collected from children presenting with acute gastroenteritis to six major hospitals in Lebanon. A total of 739 eligible stool samples, testing negative for diarrhea caused by rotavirus as a possible viral pathogen, were collected between January 2011 and June 2013. A standardized questionnaire including demographic, epidemiological and clinical observations was used at the time of hospitalization of children presenting with diarrhea. Viral RNA was extracted from stool samples followed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and nucleotide sequencing of a fragment of the viral protein 1 capsid gene. Multiple sequence alignments were carried out and phylogenetic trees were constructed using the MEGA 6 software.RESULTS Overall, 11.2% of stool samples collected from children aged < 5 years tested positive for No V genogroups Ⅰ(GⅠ) and Ⅱ(GⅡ). GⅡ accounted for 10.6% of the gastroenteritis cases with only five samples being positive for GⅠ(0.7%). The majority of hospitalized children showed symptoms of diarrhea, dehydration, vomiting and fever. Upon sequencing of positive samples and based on their clustering in the phylogenetic tree, 4/5 of GⅠ gastroenteritis cases were designated GⅠ.3 and one case as GⅠ.4. GⅡ.4 was predominantly detected in stool of our study participants(68%). We report a JB-15/KOR/2008 GⅡ.4 Apeldoorn 2008-like variant strain circulating in 2011; this strain was replaced between 2012 and 2013 by a variant sharing homology with the Sydney/NSW0514/2012/AUS GⅡ.4 Sydney 2012 and Sydney 2012/FRA GⅡ.4 strains. We also report the co-circulation of non-GⅡ.4 genotypes among hospitalized children. | 5 | Effect of elevated temperature and silica sand particle size on minimum fluidization velocity in an atmospheric bubbling fluidized bed显示文摘The impact of temperature and particle size on minimumfluidizing velocity was studied and analyzed in a small pilot scale of bubbling fluidized bed reactor.This study was devoted to providing some data about fluidization to the literature under high temperature conditions.The experiments were carried out to evaluate the minimum fluidizing velocity over a vast range of temperature levels from 20℃ to 850℃ using silica sand with a particle size of 300-425μm,425-500μm,500-600μm,and 600-710μm.Furthermore,the variation in the minimumfluidized voidage was determined experimentally at the same conditions.The experimental data revealed that the Umf directly varied with particle size and inversely with temperature,whileεmf increases slightly with temperature based on the measurements of height at incipient fluidization.However,for all particle sizes used in this test,temperatures above 700℃ has a marginal effect on Umf.The results were compared with many empirical equations,and it was found that the experimental result is still in an acceptable range of empirical equations used.In which,our findings are not well predicted by the widely accepted correlations reported in the literature.Therefore,a new predicted equation has been developed that also accounts for the affecting of mean particle size in addition to other parameters.A good mean relative deviation of 5.473% between the experimental data and the predicted values was estimated from the correlation of the effective dimensionless group.Furthermore,the experimental work revealed that the minimum fluidizing velocity was not affected by the height of the bed even at high temperature. | A.Al-Farraji Haidar Taofeeq | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,12: | 2 |
| 6 | Hierarchical assemblies of molecular frameworks—MOF-on-MOF epitaxial heterostructures显示文摘Functional,porous metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have attracted much attention as a very flexible class of crystalline,porous materials.For more advanced applications that exploit photophysical properties,the fabrication of hierarchical assemblies,including the creation of MOF/MOF heterointerfaces,is important.For the manufacturing of superstructures with length scales well beyond that of the MOF pore size,layer-by-layer(Ibl)methods are particularly attractive.These allow the isoreticular approach to be extended to superstructures with micrometer length scales,a range that is not accessible using conventional MOF design.The Ibl approach further substantially extends the compositional diversity in MOFs.At the same time,the favorable elastic properties of MOFs allow for heteroepitaxial growth,even in the case of lattice misfits as large as 20%.While the MOF-on-MOF approach to designing multicomponent superstructures with synergistic multifunctionality can also be realized with sophisticated solvothermal synthesis schemes,the Ibl(or liquid-phase epitaxy)approach carries substantial advantages,in particular when it comes to the integration of such MOF superstructures into optical or electronic devices.While the structure vertical to the substrate can be adjusted using the Ibl method,photolithographic methods can be used for lateral structuring.In this review,we will discuss the Ibl liquid-phase epitaxy approach to growing surface-anchored MOF thins films(SURMOFs)as well as other relevant one-pot synthesis methods for constructing such hierarchically designed structures and their emerging applications. | Ritesh Haidar Christof Woll | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,2: | 2 |
