1Therapeutic potential of flavonoids in inflammatory bowel disease: A comprehensive review显示文摘The inflammatory process plays a central role in the development and progression of numerous pathological situations,such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases,metabolic syndrome,and cardiovascular disorders. IBDs involve inflammation of the gastrointestinal area and mainly comprise Crohn's disease(CD) and ulcerative colitis(UC). Both pathological situations usually involve recurring or bloody diarrhea,pain,fatigue and weight loss. There is at present no pharmacological cure for CD or UC. However,surgery may be curative for UC patients. The prescribed treatment aims to ameliorate the symptoms and prevent and/or delay new painful episodes. Flavonoid compounds are a large family of hydroxylated polyphenolic molecules abundant in plants,including vegetables and fruits which are the major dietary sources of these compounds for humans,together with wine and tea. Flavonoids are becoming very popular because they have many health-promoting and disease-preventive effects. Most interest has been directed towards the antioxidant activity of flavonoids,evidencing a remarkable free-radical scavenging capacity. However,accumulating evidence suggests that flavonoids have many other biological properties,including anti-inflammatory,antiviral,anticancer,and neuroprotective activities through different mechanisms of action. 2Shared Control of Highly Automated Vehicles Using Steer-By-Wire Systems显示文摘A shared control of highly automated Steer-by-Wire system is proposed for cooperative driving between the driver and vehicle in the face of driver's abnormal driving. A fault detection scheme is designed to detect the abnormal driving behaviour and transfer the control of the car to the automatic system designed based on a fault tolerant model predictive control(MPC) controller driving the vehicle along an optimal safe path.The proposed concept and control algorithm are tested in a number of scenarios representing intersection, lane change and different types of driver's abnormal behaviour. 3Differential reactivity of mouse monoclonal anti-HBs antibodies with recombinant mutant HBs antigens显示文摘AIM: To investigate the reactivity of a panel of 8 mouse anti-hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) using a collection of 9 recombinant HBsAg mutants with a variety of amino acid substitutions mostly located within the “a” region.METHODS: The entire HBs genes previously cloned into a mammalian expression vector were transiently transfected into COS7 cells. Two standard unmutated sequences of the ayw and adw subtypes served as controls. Secreted mutant proteins were collected and measured by three commercial diagnostic immunoassays to assess transfection efficiency. Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs was determined by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).RESULTS: Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs revealed different patterns. While three mutants reacted strongly with all mAbs, two mutants reacted weakly with only two mAbs and the remaining proteins displayed variable degrees of reactivity towards different mAbs. Accordingly, four groups of mAbs with different but overlapping reactivity patterns could be envisaged. One group consisting of two mAbs (37C5-S7 and 35C6-S11) was found to recognize stable linear epitopes conserved in all mutants. 4Knowledge management and the entrepreneur:Insights from Ikujiro Nonaka's Dynamic Knowledge Creation model(SECI)显示文摘A key goal of knowledge management(KM)is to foster innovation through the ceation of new knowledge.Surprisingly,there is little research on KM in the context of entrepre-neurship,a domain where innovation is considered essential.This paper extends estab-lished theories and frameworks for KM to the understudied context of KM in small and medium entrepreneurial firms,particularly young startups.Translating KM fr ameworks,such as the widely studied SECI model,into the entrepreneurial domain could eventually help startups in their quest for sustainability and growth.The SECI model is an aspir ational process with which to build new knowledge,including the explicit knowledge assets that startups commonly lack.However,an aspiration is only useful if the subject knows where he or she stands in relation to it.This study focuses on understanding whether entre-preneurial activities embed into,and can further enable,the'virtuous'knowledge-creation cycle.The secondary objective of this paper is to acknowledge Ikujiro Nonaka's contribution to western and eastern KM theories,and extend his seminal theories into other domains,such as small and medium enterprises.This work pilots the use of a content analysis technique largely used in psychology to analyze the connection between entrepreneurship and KM.With this method,the study highlights how the four phases of the SECI model apply to startup firms in a business incubator in the United States.It provides insights into the knowledge-creation process of entrepreneurs,and suggests how entrepreneurs can improve startup survival through greater awareness and use of KM in their business planning and operational activities.Cesar Bandera Fazel Keshtkar Michael R.Bartolacci Shiromani Neerudu Katia Passerini 2017International Journal of Innovation Studies2017,1,3:4

7A three dimensional CFD simulation and optimization of direct DME synthesis in a fixed bed reactor显示文摘In this study, a comprehensive three-dimensional dynamic model was developed for simulating the flow behavior and catalytic coupling reactions for direct synthesis of dimethyl ether(DME) from syngas including CO2 in a fixed bed reactor at commercial scale under both adiabatic and isothermal conditions. For this purpose, a computational fluid dynamic(CFD) simulation was carried out through which the standard k-ε model with 10% turbulence tolerations was implemented. At first, an adiabatic fixed bed reactor was simulated and the obtained results were compared with those of an equivalent commercial slurry reactor. Then the concentration and temperature profiles along the reactor were predicted. Consequently, the optimum temperature, pressure, hydrogen to carbon monoxide ratio in the feedstock and the reactor height under different operation conditions were determined. Finally, the results obtained from this three-dimensional dynamic model under appropriate industrial boundary conditions were compared with those of others available in literature to verify the model. Next, through changing the boundary conditions, the simulation was performed for an isothermal fixed bed reactor. Furthermore, it was revealed that, under isothermal conditions, the performed equilibrium simulations were done for a single phase system. Considering the simultaneous effects of temperature and pressure, the optimum operation conditions for the isothermal and adiabatic fixed bed reactors were investigated. The results of the H2+CO conversions indicated that, under isothermal condition, higher conversion could be achieved, in compared with that under adiabatic conditions. Then, the effects of various operating parameters, including the pressure and temperature, of the reactor on the DME production were examined.
