| 1 | History of the infantile hepatic hemangioma:From imaging to generating a differential diagnosis显示文摘We aim to provide an up-to-date summary of infantile hepatic hemangioma(IHH) and its misnomers and to dialectically present the differential diagnosis of these rare entities of the liver.Eligible peer-reviewed articles on hepatic infantile hemangiomas,published between 2000 and 2015,were reviewed for this study.IHH is the most common hepatic vascular tumor in children.Once a liver mass is identified in an infant,the differential diagnosis ranges from vascular malformations to benign and malignant tumors including mesenchymal hamartoma,hepatoblastoma,metastatic neuroblastoma,so careful physical examination,imaging studies,and,if indicated,tumor markers and biopsy,are of pivotal importance to ascertain the correct diagnosis.Despite the benign nature of IHHs,some of these lesions may demand medical and/or surgical intervention,especially for multiple and diffuse IHH.Complications can include hepatomegaly,hypothyroidism and cardiac failure.Therefore,a close follow-up is required until complete involution of the lesions.We propose an algorithm to guide the physicians towards the proper management of hepatic lesions. | Maria Gnarra Gerald Behr Alison Kitajewski June K Wu Sudha A Anupindi Carrie J Shawber Nick Zavras Dimitrios Schizas Chris Salakos Konstantinos P Economopoulos | 2016 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2016，5，3： | 27 |
| 2 | Adrenal ganglioneuroma:What you need to know显示文摘Adrenal ganglioneuromas(GNs) constitute rare,differentiated tumors which originate from neural crest cells. GNs are usually hormonally silent and tend to be discovered incidentally on imaging tests. Adrenalectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of primary adrenal GNs. Nevertheless,preoperative differential diagnosis of GNs remains extremely challenging,and thus histopathological examination is required in order to confirm the diagnosis of GN. | 3 | Presentation and surgical management of xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis显示文摘Background:Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis(XGC)is a rare benign chronic inflammatory disease of the gallbladder that often presents as cholecystitis and most of the times requires surgical management.In addition,distinguishing XGC from gallbladder cancer preoperatively is still a challenge.The aim of the present systematic review was to outline the clinical presentation and surgical approach of XGC.Data sources:The present systematic review was designed using the PRISMA and AMSTAR guidelines.We searched MEDLINE,Scopus,Clinicaltrials.gov,EMBASE,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL)and Google Scholar databases from inception until June 2020.Results:The laparoscopic cholecystectomy rate(34%)was almost equal to the open cholecystectomy rate(47%)for XGC.An important conversion rate(35%)was observed as well.The XGC cases treated by surgery were associated with low mortality(0.3%),limited intraoperative blood loss(58-270 m L),low complication rates(2%–6%),along with extended operative time(82.6–120 minutes for laparoscopic and 59.6–240 minutes for open cholecystectomy)and hospital stay(3–9 days after laparoscopic and 8.3–18 days after open cholecystectomy).Intraoperative findings during cholecystectomies for XGC included empyema or Mirizzi syndrome.In addition,complex surgical procedures,like wedge hepatic resections and bile duct excision were required during operations for XGC.Conclusions:XGC seemed to be a rare,benign inflammatory disease that presents similar features as gallbladder cancer.The mortality and complication rates of XGC were low,despite the complex surgical procedures that might be required in some cases. | Maximos Frountzas Dimitrios Schizas Efstathia Liatsou Konstantinos P Economopoulos Christina Nikolaou Konstantinos G Apostolou Konstantinos G Toutouzas Evangelos Felekouras | 2021 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2021，20，2： | 4 |

| 19 | Extrahepatic right portal vein ligation allows parenchyma-sparing en bloc resection of segments 7, 8 and 4a for liver tumors engaging the right and middle hepatic veins显示文摘Right trisectionectomy for posterior liver tumors engaging the right and middle hepatic veins may lead to post-hepatectomy liver failure if the anticipated liver remnant is small. In such patients we developed a parenchymasparing one-step approach, that includes extrahepatic right portal vein ligation accompanied by en bloc resection only of segments 7, 8 and 4a and resection of the right and middle hepatic veins. The technique was applied in 3 patients with normal liver function, where according to the preoperative computed tomography the volume of segments 1, 2 and 3 ranged between 17% and 20% of the total liver volume. In all patients liver biochemistry improved rapidly postoperatively and a doubling of volume of segments 1, 2 and 3 was achieved by the third postoperative week, as extrahepatic right portal vein ligation ameliorated reperfusion injury of the remaining segments 5 and 6 and induced hypertrophy of segments 1, 2, 3 and 4b. There was no mortality or long-term complications.Patients are alive and free of disease 74, 50 and 17 months after the operation, respectively.
