1MICROSTRUCTURAL MODEL OF GATORIZED WASPALOY IN THE ISOTHERMAL FORGING PROCESS显示文摘A microstructural model, which was to predict the evolution of microstructure of Gatorized Waspeloy in the isothermal forcing process, was developed in terms of dynamic recrystallization and grain growth. 2Biofeedback therapy for chronic pelvic pain syndrome显示文摘Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of biofeedback therapy in patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CPPS). Methods: From November 2001 to April 2002, patients visiting the Urological Outpatient Clinic of this Hospital were evaluated by means of the National Institute of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI)and classified by the NIH classification standard. Sixty-two patients of CPPS category Ⅲ were involved in this study. All patients had been treated by conventional approaches such as antibiotics and alpha-blockers for more than half a year without any improvement. The expressed prostatic secretion results were as follows: WBC 5 to 9/high power field, lipid +-+++ and bacterial culture negative. Their NIH-CPSI were 12-40. All the 62 cases complained of micturitional irritation (frequency, urgency, splitted stream and sense of residual urine), 32 cases, of pain or discomfort at the testicular, penile, scrotal, pelvic or rectal region and 13 cases, of white secretion-dripping. The patients were treated by the Urostym Biofeedback equipment (Laborie Co., Canada) 5 times a week for 2 weeks with a stimulus intensity of 15 mA-23 mA and duration of 20 minutes. Results: Sixty patients were significantly improved or cured, while no significant improvement in the remaining 2. No apparent side effect was observed. The NIH-CPSI dropped to 6 to 14 with an average reduction of 21 (P<0.01). In the 60 improved cases, pain was relieved after 2-3treatment courses and other symptoms disappeared after 4-5 courses. Conclusion: Biofeedback therapy is a safe and effective treatment for CPPS. Large randomized clinical trials are needed to confirm its efficacy and to explore the mechanism of action. 4Fundamental Theories and Key Technologies for Smart andOptimal Manufacturing in the Process Industry显示文摘Given the significant requirements for transforming and promoting the process industry, we present themajor limitations of current petrochemical enterprises, including limitations in decision-making, produc-tion operation, efficiency and security, information integration, and so forth. To promote a vision of theprocess industry with efficient, green, and smart production, modern information technology should beutilized throughout the entire optimization process for production, management, and marketing. To focuson smart equipment in manufacturing processes, as well as on the adaptive intelligent optimization of themanufacturing process, operating mode, and supply chain management, we put forward several key scien-tific problems in engineering in a demand-driven and application-oriented manner, namely:intelligentsensing and integration of all process information, including production and management information; collaborative decision-making in the supply chain, industry chain, and value chain, driven by knowledge; cooperative control and optimization of plant-wide production processes via human-cyber-physical in-teraction; and Q life-cycle assessments for safety and environmental footprint monitoring, in addition totracing analysis and risk control. In order to solve these limitations and core scientific problems, we furtherpresent fundamental theories and key technologies for smart and optimal manufacturing in the processindustry. 5Role of Notch signaling pathway in gastric cancer: A meta-analysis of the literature显示文摘AIM: To perform a meta-analysis to quantitatively summarize the evidence for the association between the Notch signaling pathway and gastric cancer(GC).METHODS: An electronic search of the MEDLINE, EMBASE and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure,which contain articles published from 1966 onwards,was conducted to select studies for this meta-analysis. RESULTS: Fifteen studies with a total of 1547 gastric cancer cases and 450 controls were included in this meta-analysis. Overall, the expression of Notch1,Notch2, Delta-like 4 and Hes1 was significantly higher in tumor tissues of GC compared to normal tissues.Specifically, stratified analyses showed that significantly increased expression of Notch1 was associated with non-cardia location, > 5 cm size, diffuse type, positive lymphovascular invasion and distal metastasis. Statistically significant higher expression of Notch3 was found in diffuse type GC. Jagged1 was also significantly over-expressed in diffuse type and poor differentiation type of GC. DLL4 was significantly over-expressed in advanced T stage, N stage and TNM stage in GC patients. However, the stratified analysis showed that there was no statistically significant difference in Hes1 expression between different subgroups. 6Elevation of serum apelin-13 associated with proliferative diabetic retinopathy in type 2 diabetic patients显示文摘AIM: To compare apelin-13, a ligand of G-proteincoupled receptor which has been shown to be involved in retinal angiogenesis, and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) serum levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) with or without retinopathy, and to investigate the relationship between the serum concentration of apelin-13 and diabetes retinopathy.METHODS: Sixty-nine patients with T2 DM were enrolled.Of the 69 patients, 16 had proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR group), 23 had non-PDR(NPDR group)and 30 had no retinopathy(T2DM group). Subjects' information, including demographics, medical history,and use of medications were recorded. Their serum samples were collected for measuring the levels of C-reactive protein(CRP), serum lipid and glycosylated hemoglobin. Apelin-13 and VEGF serum levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Kruskal-Wallis test and one-way ANOVA were used to compare the differences among these groups. Chi-square test was used to assess categorical variables.Correlations between variables were investigated by Spearman rho correlation test and stepwise regression analysis. All statistical analyses were performed through SPSS 17.0 software.RESULTS: Sex, age, body mass index(BMI), blood pressure, CRP, hemoglobin A1c(Hb A1c) have no significantly difference in the three groups. Serum level of apelin-13 was significantly elevated in PDR group as compared with T2 DM group(P =0.041). Differences of VEGF serum concentration in the three groups were statistically significant(P =0.007, P =0.007 and P <0.001,respectively). Spearman rho correlation test showed that serum apelin-13 was positively correlated with BMI,serum triglycerides, VEGF, but not with age, duration of diabetes, blood pressure, CRP, Hb A1 c and total-cholesterol. Stepwise regression analysis showed that BMI also significantly associated with serum apelin-13(P =0.002), while VEGF and serum triglycerides were irrelevant. CONCLUSION: This study elucidated a positive association of apelin-13 serum level with PDR, but not with VEGF. 11Cordyceps cicadae extracts ameliorate renal malfunction in a remnant kidney model显示文摘Background and Objectives:Chronic kidney disease(CKD) is a growing public health problem with an urgent need for new pharmacological agents.Cordyceps cicadae is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and has potential renoprotective benefits.The current study aimed to determine any scientific evidence to support its clinical use.Methods:We analyzed the potential of two kinds of C.cicadae extract,total extract(TE) and acetic ether extract(AE),in treating kidney disease simulated by a subtotal nephrectomy(SNx) model.Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into seven groups:sham-operated group,vehicle-treated SNx,Cozaar,2 g/(kg·d) TE SNx,1 g/(kg·d) TE SNx,92 mg/(kg·d) AE SNx,and 46 mg/(kg·d) AE SNx.Renal injury was monitored using urine and serum analyses,and hematoxylin and eosin(HE) and periodic acid-Schiff(PAS) stainings were used to analyze the level of fibrosis.The expression of type IV collagen(Col IV),fibronectin(FN),transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),and connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) was detected by immunohistochemistry.Results:Renal injury,reflected in urine and serum analyses,and pathological changes induced by SNx were attenuated by TE and AE intervention.The depositions of Col IV and FN were also decreased by the treatments and were accompanied by reduced expression of TGF-β1 and CTGF.In some respects,2 g/(kg·d) of TE produced better effects than Cozaar.Conclusions:For the first time,we have shown that C.cicadae may inhibit renal fibrosis in vivo through the TGF-β1/CTGF pathway.Therefore,we conclude that the use of C.cicadae could provide a rational strategy for combating renal fibrosis.Rong ZHU Yi-ping CHEN Yue-yi DENG Rong ZHENG Yi-fei ZHONG Lin WANG Lan-ping DU 2011Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2011,12,12:18
12Cancer incidence and mortality in Zhejiang Province,Southeast China,2016:a population-based study显示文摘Backgrounds:Cancer is one of the main causes of death worldwide,seriously threatening human health and life expectancy.We aimed to analyze the cancer incidence and mortality rates during 2016 in Zhejiang Province,Southeast China.Methods:Data were collected from 14 population-based cancer registries across Zhejiang Province of China.Cancer incidence and mortality rates stratified by sex and region were analyzed.The crude rate,age-standardized rate,age-specific and region-specific rate,and cumulative rate were calculated.The proportions of 10 common cancers in different groups and the incidence and mortality rates of the top five cancers in different age groups were also calculated.The Chinese national census of 2000 and the world Segi population was used for calculating the age-standardized incidence and mortality rates.Results:The 14 cancer registries covered a population of 14,250,844 individuals,accounting for 29.13%of the population of Zhejiang Province.The total reported cancer cases and deathswere 55,835 and 27,013,respectively.The proportion ofmorphological verification(MV%)was 78.95%of the population,and percentage of incident cases identified through death certificates only(DCO%)was 1.23%with a mortality-to-incidence ratio(M/I ratio)of 0.48.The crude incidence rate in Zhejiang cancer registration areas was 391.80/105;the age-standardized incidence rate of the Chinese standard population(ASIRC)and the age-standardized incidence rate of theworld standard population(ASIRW)were 229.76/105 and 220.96/105,respectively.The incidence rate in men was higher than that inwomen.The incidence rate increased rapidly after 45 years of age and peaked in individuals aged 80 to 84 years.The top 10 incidence rates of cancers were lung cancer,female breast cancer,thyroid cancer,colorectal cancer,stomach cancer,liver cancer,prostate cancer,cervical cancer,esophageal cancer,and pancreatic cancer(from highest to lowest).The crude mortality rate in Zhejiang cancer registration areas was 189.55/105;the age-standardized mortality rate of the Chinese standard population(ASMRC)and the agestandardized mortality rate of the world standard population(ASMRW)were 94.46/105 and 93.42/105,respectively.The mortality rate in men was higher than that in women,and the male population in rural areas was higher than that in urban areas.The cancer mortality rate increased rapidly after 50 years of age and peaked in individuals aged 85+years.The top 10 mortality rates of cancers were lung cancer,liver cancer,stomach cancer,colorectal cancer,pancreatic cancer,esophageal cancer,female breast cancer,prostate cancer,lymphoma,and leukemia(from highest to lowest).Conclusions:Lung cancer,female breast cancer,thyroid cancer,colorectal cancer,prostate cancer,liver cancer,and stomach cancer were the most common cancers in Zhejiang Province.Effective prevention and control measures should be established after considering the different characteristics of cancers in urban and rural areas.You-Qing Wang Hui-Zhang Li Wei-Wei Gong Yao-Yao Chen Chen Zhu Le Wang Jie-Ming Zhong Ling-Bin Du 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,16:18

14A Highly Pathogenic Strain of Porcine Deltacoronavirus Caused Watery Diarrhea in Newborn Piglets显示文摘Porcine deltacoronavirus(PDCoV) is a newly identified virus that causes watery diarrhea in newborn piglets and results in significant economic losses to the pig industry. Since first reported in Hong Kong in 2012, PDCoV has been subsequently detected in USA, South Korea, Thailand, and China's Mainland. Here we isolated a strain of PDCoV, named CHN-GD-2016,from the intestinal content of a diseased newborn piglet with severe diarrhea in a pig farm in Guangdong, China. PDCoV CHN-GD-2016 could be identified by immunofluorescence with PDCoV specific rabbit antisera, and typical crown-shaped particles with spiky surface projections of this PDCoV were observed with electron microscopy. Genomic analysis showed that the PDCoV CHN-GD-2016 was closely related to other Chinese PDCoV strains, with the highest sequence similarity with the strain CHN/Tianjin/2016. Importantly, inoculation of newborn piglets with 1×10~5 TCID_(50) of CHN-GD-2016 by oral feeding successfully reproduced clear clinical symptoms, including vomiting, dehydration, and severe diarrhea in piglets. In addition, the virus RNA in rectal swabs from 1 to 7 days post inoculation was detected, macroscopic and microscopic lesions in small intestine were observed, and viral antigen was also detected in the small intestines with immunohistochemical staining. 17Effectiveness of Auricular Acupressure for Acute Postoperative Pain after Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis显示文摘Objective: To identify the effectiveness of auricular acupressure(AA) in patients with acute postoperative pain after surgery by systematic review. Methods: A search of randomized controlled trials was conducted in 5 English medical electronic databases and 4 Chinese databases. Two reviewers independently retrieved related studies, assessed the methodological quality, and extracted data with a standardized data form. Meta-analyses were performed using all time-points meta-analysis. Results: A total of 26 studies with 1,682 participants were included. Results showed that compared with conventional therapy, AA significantly improved the total effective rate [risk ratio=1.25, 95% confidence interval(CI), 1.13 to 1.37, P<0.0001; heterogeneity: P<0.0001, I^2=85%]. In the subgroup analysis, the results changed in different follow-up time and surgery categories. The pain relief in the AA group might be the most significant at 72 h after surgery(mean difference=–0.85, 95% CI, –1.20 to –0.50, P<0.0001) and in abdominal surgery(mean difference=–1.15, 95% CI, –1.41 to –0.90, P<0.0001). Sensitivity analysis demonstrated that the results of this meta-analysis were stable. No serious adverse effects were recorded. Conclusions: It was recommended to provide AA to patients with acute postoperative pain.
