| 2 | Correlation between severity of endoscopic findings and apnea-hypopnea index in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and obstructive sleep apnea显示文摘AIM: To assess the relationship between severity of gastroesophageal reflux disease and apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) as an indicator of the severity of obstructive sleep apnea.METHODS: Data of 57 patients with proven obstructive sleep apnea and gastroesophageal reflux disease were analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups according to severity of the sleep apnea: 'mild-moderate' (A)-AHI ≥5-30, n = 27, 'severe' (B)-AHI >30, n = 30. All patients underwent apnea monitoring during the night, upper panendoscopy and were asked about typical reflux symptoms.RESULTS: All examined patients in both groups showed a significant overweight and there was a positive correlation between body mass index and the degree of sleep apnea (P = 0.0002). The occurence of erosive reflux disease was significantly higher in 'severe' group (P = 0.0001).Using a logistic regression analysis a positive correlation was found between the endoscopic severity of reflux disease and the AHI (P = 0.016). Forty-nine point five percent of the patients experienced the typical symptoms of reflux disease at least three times a week and there was no significant difference between the two groups.CONCLUSION: A positive correlation can be found between the severity of gastroesophageal reflux disease and obstructive sleep apnea. | Pál Demeter Katalin Várdi Visy Pál Magyar | 2005 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2005，11，6： | 6 |
| 3 | Rhabdomyolysis with different etiologies in childhood显示文摘AIM To investigate different etiologies and management of the rhabdomyolysis in children.METHODS Eight pediatric rhabdomyolysis cases who applied to the Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine Department of Pediatric Nephrology with different etiologies between January 2004 and January 2012 were evaluated in terms of age, gender, admission symptoms, physical examination findings, factors provoking rhabdomyolysis, number of rhabdomyolysis attacks, laboratory results, family history and the final diagnosis received after the treatment. RESULTS Average diagnosis ages of eight cases were 129(24-192) ± 75.5 mo and five of them were girls. All of them had applied with the complaint of muscle pain, calf pain, and dark color urination. Infection(pneumonia) and excessive physical activity were the most important provocative factors and excessive licorice consumption was observed in one case. In 5 cases, acute kidney injury was determined and two cases needed hemodialysis. As a result of the further examinations; the cases had received diagnoses of rhabdomyolysis associated with mycoplasma pneumoniae, sepsis associated rhabdomyolysis, licorice-induced hypokalemic rhabdomyolysis, carnitine palmitoyltransferase Ⅱ deficiency, very long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, congenital muscular dystrophy and idiopathic paroxysmal rhabdomyolysis(Meyer-Betz syndrome).CONCLUSION It is important to distinguish the sporadic and recurrent rhabdomyolysis cases from each other. | 4 | An efficient and accurate framework for calculating lattice thermal conductivity of solids:AFLOW-AAPL Automatic Anharmonic Phonon Library显示文摘One of the most accurate approaches for calculating lattice thermal conductivity,κ_(l),is solving the Boltzmann transport equation starting from third-order anharmonic force constants.In addition to the underlying approximations of ab-initio parameterization,two main challenges are associated with this path:high computational costs and lack of automation in the frameworks using this methodology,which affect the discovery rate of novel materials with ad-hoc properties.Here,the Automatic Anharmonic Phonon Library(AAPL)is presented.It efficiently computes interatomic force constants by making effective use of crystal symmetry analysis,it solves the Boltzmann transport equation to obtain κ_(l),and allows a fully integrated operation with minimum user intervention,a rational addition to the current high-throughput accelerated materials development framework AFLOW.An“experiment vs.theory”study of the approach is shown,comparing accuracy and speed with respect to other available packages,and for materials characterized by strong electron localization and correlation.Combining AAPL with the pseudo-hybrid functional ACBN0 is possible to improve accuracy without increasing computational requirements. | Jose J.Plata Pinku Nath Demet Usanmaz Jesus Carrete Cormac Toher Maarten de Jong Mark Asta Marco Fornari Marco Buongiorno Nardelli Stefano Curtarolo | 2017 | npj Computational Materials2017，，1： | 5 |
| 5 | Epinephrine plus argon plasma or heater probe coagulation in ulcer bleeding显示文摘AIM:To compare the effectiveness of argon plasma coagulation (APC) and heater probe coagulation (HPC) in non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding.METHODS:Eighty-five (18 female,67 male) patients admitted for acute gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric or duodenal ulcer were included in the study.Upper endoscopy was performed and HPC or APC were chosen randomly to stop the bleeding.Initial hemostasis and rebleeding rates were primary and secondary end-points of the study.RESULTS:Initial hemostasis was achieved in 97.7% (42/43) and 81% (36/42) of the APC and HPC groups,respectively (P < 0.05).Rebleeding rates were 2.4% (1/42) and 8.3% (3/36) in the APC and HPC groups,respectively,at 4 wk (P > 0.05).CONCLUSION:APC is an effective hemostatic method in bleeding peptic ulcers.Larger multicenter trials are necessary to confirm these results. | Ahmet Karaman Mevlut Baskol Sebnem Gursoy Edip Torun Alper Yurci Banu Demet Ozel Kadri Guven Omer Ozbakir Mehmet Yucesoy | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011，17，36： | 4 |
| 6 | Coordination corrected ab initio formation enthalpies显示文摘The correct calculation of formation enthalpy is one of the enablers of ab-initio computational materials design.For several classes of systems(e.g.oxides)standard density functional theory produces incorrect values.Here we propose the“coordination corrected enthalpies”method(CCE),based on the number of nearest neighbor cation–anion bonds,and also capable of correcting relative stability of polymorphs.CCE uses calculations employing the Perdew,Burke and Ernzerhof(PBE),local density approximation(LDA)and strongly constrained and appropriately normed(SCAN)exchange correlation functionals,in conjunction with a quasiharmonic Debye model to treat zero-point vibrational and thermal effects.The benchmark,performed on binary and ternary oxides(halides),shows very accurate room temperature results for all functionals,with the smallest mean absolute error of 27(24)meV/atom obtained with SCAN.The zero-point vibrational and thermal contributions to the formation enthalpies are small and with different signs—largely canceling each other. | Rico Friedrich Demet Usanmaz Corey Oses Andrew Supka Marco Fornari Marco Buongiorno Nardelli Cormac Toher Stefano Curtarolo | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019，，1： | 3 |

Ach. from around iron-steel factory in Karabk, Turkey显示文摘Lichens are widely used in biomonitoring studies of air pollution, either as bioindicators of air quality or as bioaccumulators of atmospheric deposition. Over the past decade, several molecular techniques have been developed to provide information on diversity, genotoxicology, genetic relationships, etc. The heavy metal contents of Evernia prunastri samples were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA Polymerase Chain Reaction (RAPD-PCR) method was used to describe the pattern of DNA band variation in the samples influenced by the environmental pollution. The study was designed to describe the level of pollution in an area contaminated with smoke and waste from an iron-steel factory, and to reveal the level of potential genotoxic agents around this source of pollution. | 9 | Neurochemical metabolites in the medial prefrontal cortex in bipolar disorder A proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy study显示文摘The aim of this study was to investigate proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy metabolite values in the medial prefrontal cortex of individuals with euthymic bipolar disorder. The subjects consisted of 15 patients with euthymic bipolar disorder type Ⅰ and 15 healthy controls. We performed proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the bilateral medial prefrontal cortex and measured levels of N-acetyl aspartate, choline and creatine. Levels of these three metabolites in the medial prefrontal cortex were found to be lower in patients with bipolar disorder compared with healthy controls. A positive correlation was found between illness duration and choline levels in the right medial prefrontal cortex. | 10 | Does acupuncture have a positive effect on school success in children?显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate school success in pediatric patients undergoing acupuncture treatment for variousindications.METHODS: The grades achieved during both school terms by children undergoing acupuncture treatment for various indications at the pediatric out patient clinic of Ulus State Hospital were analyzed. Exam grades in mathematics, social studies,and Turkish was compared between the first and the second terms. Forty children were included in thestudy,with 22 male and 18 female,and their average age was 11.1 years. These patients were undergoing acupuncture treatment for attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), enuresis nocturna, migraine, obesity, atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, and Tourette's syndrome. Treatments were done at the beginning of the second term. Four of the 25 patients with ADHD had borderline intelligence quotients.The report cards of all 40 patients were examined, and their grades in the first and these condschool term were compared.RESULTS: There was a statistically significant increase in the grades obtained in mathematics, social studies, and Turkish(P<0.005) by the students from the first to the second school term. When 4 ADHD patients with borderline deficiency in intelligence were excluded, and the grades among the 21 patients with ADHD were compared for both terms, there was also a statistically significant increase in mathematics, social studies, and Turkish grades(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Acupuncture contributed to the academic success of the children who under went acupuncture treatment for their primary symptoms. | Demet TAS Hakan Volkan ACAR | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014，34，4： | 2 |
