| 1 | Relationship between Th17 immune response and cancer显示文摘Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide and epidemiological projections predict growing cancer mortality rates in the next decades.Cancer has a close relationship with the immune system and,although Th17 cells are known to play roles in the immune response against microorganisms and in autoimmunity,studies have emphasized their roles in cancer pathogenesis.The Th17 immune response profile is involved in several types of cancer including urogenital,respiratory,gastrointestinal,and skin cancers.This type of immune response exerts pro and antitumor functions through several mechanisms,depending on the context of each tumor,including the protumor angiogenesis and exhaustion of T cells and the antitumor recruitment of T cells and neutrophils to the tumor microenvironment.Among other factors,the paradoxical behavior of Th17 cells in this setting has been attributed to its plasticity potential,which makes possible their conversion into other types of T cells such as Th17/Treg and Th17/Th1 cells.Interleukin(IL)-17 stands out among Th17-related cytokines since it modulates pathways and interacts with other cell profiles in the tumor microenvironment,which allow Th17 cells to prevail in tumors.Moreover,the IL-17 is able to mediate pro and antitumor processes that influence the development and progression of various cancers,being associated with variable clinical outcomes.The understanding of the relationship between the Th17 immune response and cancer as well as the singularities of carcinogenic processes in each type of tumor is crucial for the identification of new therapeutic targets. | Hanna Santos Marques Breno Bittencourt de Brito Filipe Antônio França da Silva Maria Luísa Cordeiro Santos Júlio César Braga de Souza Thiago Macêdo Lopes Correia Luana Weber Lopes Nayara Silva de Macêdo Neres Rafael Santos Dantas Miranda Dórea Anna Carolina Saúde Dantas Lorena Lôbo Brito Morbeck Iasmin Souza Lima Amanda Alves de Almeida Maiara Raulina de Jesus Dias Fabrício Freire de Melo | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2021，12，10： | 5 |
| 2 | Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in the maxillary sinus with orbital involvement in a pediatric patient:Case report显示文摘This report presents a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma(e RMS) located in the left maxillary sinus and invading the orbital cavity in a ten-year-old male patient who was treated at a referral hospital.The images provided from the computed tomography showed a heterogeneous mass with soft-tissue density,occupying part of the left half of the face inside the maxillary sinus,and infiltrating and destroying the bone structure of the maxillary sinus,left orbit,ethmoidal cells,nasal cavity,and sphenoid sinus.An analysis of the histological sections revealed an undifferentiated malignant neoplasm infiltrating the skeletal muscle tissue.The immunohistochemical analysis was positive for the antigens:MyoD 1,myogenin,desmin,and Ki67(100% positivity in neoplastic cells),allowing the identification of the tumour as an eR MS.The treatment protocol included initial chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy and finally surgery.The total time of the treatment was nine months,and in 18-mo of follow-up period did not show no local recurrences and a lack of visual impairment. | Ana Carolina Rodrigues de Melo Tácio Candeia Lyra Isabella Lima Arrais Ribeiro Alexandre Rolim da Paz Paulo Rogério Ferreti Bonan Ricardo Dias de Castro Ana Maria Gondim Valen?a | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2017，5，12： | 3 |
| 3 | Development of hepatorenal syndrome in bile duct ligated rats显示文摘AIM: To evaluate in bile duct ligated rats whether there were progressive alterations of renal function without changes in histopathology. METHODS: Male Wistar rats were submitted to sham-surgery or bile duct ligation (BDL) and divided according to the post-procedure time (2, 4 and 6-wk). To determine renal function parameters, rats wereplaced in metabolic cages and, at the end of the experiment, blood and urine samples were obtained. Histology and hydroxyproline content were analyzed in liver and renal tissue. RESULTS: Rats with 2 wk of BDL increased free water clearance (P = 0.02), reduced urinary osmolality (P = 0.03) and serum creatinine (P = 0.01) in comparison to the sham group. In contrast, rats at 6 wk of BDL showed features of HRS, including signif icant increase in serum creatinine and reductions in creatinine clearance, water excretion and urinary sodium concentration. Rats with 4 wk of BDL exhibited an intermediate stage of renal dysfunction. Progressive hepatic f ibrosis according to post-procedure time was confirmed by histology. The increased levels of liver hydroxyproline contrasted with the absence of structural changes in the kidney, as assessed by histology and unchanged hydroxyproline content in renal tissue. CONCLUSION: Our data show that BDL produced progressive renal dysfunction without structural changes in the kidney, characterizing HRS. | 4 | Efficacy of Gold Nanoparticles against Nephrotoxicity Induced by Schistosoma mansoni Infection in Mice显示文摘Objective In this study, the ameliorative effects of gold nanoparticles(gold NP) on the renal tissue damage in Schistosoma mansoni(S. mansoni)-infected mice was investigated. Methods High-resolution transmission electron microscopy was used for the characterization of NP. The gold NP at concentrations of 250, 500, and 1000 μg/kg body weight were inoculated into S. mansoni-infected mice. Results The parasite caused alterations in the histological architecture. Furthermore, it induced a significant reduction in the renal glutathione levels; however, the levels of nitric oxide and malondialdehyde were significantly elevated. The parasite also managed to downregulate KIM-1, NGAL, MCP-1, and TGF-β mR NA expression in infected animals. Notably, gold NP treatment in mice reduced the extent of histological impairment and renal oxidative damage. Gold NP were able to regulate gene expression impaired by S. Mansoni infection. | 15 | 术中脑组织氧分压偏低与动脉瘤性蛛网膜下腔出血术后血管痉挛相关(英文)显示文摘Background Vasospasm is a frequent complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage ( SAH) ,implicated in poor outcome,and prediction of its occurrence might be important on the therapeutic approach of this condition. Brain oxygenation in aneurysmal SAH was prospectively monitored during surgery in 28 patients,using brain tissue oxygen pressure ( PbtO 2 ) ,studying its association with the occurrence of post-operative vasospasm,detected by transcranial Doppler. Methods PbtO 2 monitoring was performed during surgery of 28 patients with aneurysmal SAH,using a polarographic microcatheter ( Licox; GMS,Kiel,Germany) ,inserted into the cerebral tissue. The aneurysms were localized in the anterior communicating artery ( AcoA) complex ( eight cases) ,in the posterior communicating artery ( Pcom) origin ( seven cases) ,and in the middle cerebral artery ( MCA) bifurcation ( 13 cases) . Basal PbtO 2 values,obtained immediately before application of temporary or definitive clips,were studied according to age,clinical status and CT findings. The association between the basal values and the occurrence of increased blood flow velocity in the post-operative transcranial Doppler ( TCD vasospasm) was investigated. Results Post-operative TCD vasospasm developed in 13 patients,all of them with basal values inferior to 10 mmHg. PbtO 2 basal value was significantly lower in cases that developed TCD vasospasm. This association was independent of age, clinical status,or CT findings.
