3A computer vision system for defect discrimination and grading in tomatoes using machine learning and image processing显示文摘With large-scale production and the need for high-quality tomatoes to meet consumer and market standards criteria,have led to the need for an inline,accurate,reliable grading system during the post-harvest process.This study introduced a tomato grading machine vision system based on RGB images.The proposed system performed calyx and stalk scar detection at an average accuracy of 0.9515 for both defected and healthy tomatoes by histogramthresholding based on themean g-r value of these regions of interest.Defected regionswere detected by an RBF-SVMclassifier using the LAB color-space pixel values.Themodel achieved an overall accuracy of 0.989 upon validation.Four grading categories recognitionmodelswere developed based on color and texture features.The RBF-SVMoutperformed all the explored modelswith the highest accuracy of 0.9709 for healthy and defected category.However,the grading accuracy decreased as the number of grading categories increased.A combination of color and texture features achieved the highest accuracy in all the grading categories in image features evaluation.This proposed system can be used as an inline tomato sorting tool to ensure that quality standards are adhered to and maintained.David Ireri Eisa Belal Cedric Okinda Nelson Makange Changying Ji 2019Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture2019,,2:10
4Anti-anxiety effect of Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract via regulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis dysfunction has been closely linked to anxiety.Previous studies have shown that Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract exhibits clear anxio-lytic effects, but it is unclear about the mechanism underlying regulation of the HPA axis dysfunction in these anxiolytic effects.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of Valeriana jatamansi Jones (Zhizhu Xiang) extract on HPA axis function in a rat model of anxiety, and to compare these effects with positive control estazolam.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING:Randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, between February and September in 2006.MATERIALS:Estazolam was purchased from Shanghai Jiufu Pharmaceutical, China; Valeriana jatamansi Jones was purchased from the Lotus Pond Market for Chinese Herbal Medicine in Chengdu.It consisted of iridoids and flavonoid components.METHODS:A total of 72 Sprague Dawley rats, aged 2 months, were randomly assigned to 6 groups:low-, medium-, and high-dose Valeriana jatamansi Jones groups intragastrically injected with 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9 g/kg per day Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract, respectively; estazolam group intragastrically injected with 1.5 mg/kg per day estazolam; model and normal groups administered 5 mL physiological saline.Anxiety was established in all groups, except the normal group, through the use of elevated plus-maze test at 7 days following drug administration.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Blood β-endorphin and corticosterone levels were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay following treatment with Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract.Expressions of HPA axis-related genes were measured by cDNA microarray.RESULTS:Blood β-endorphin and corticosterone levels were significantly greater in the model group than in the normal group.Compared with the model group, levels decreased with Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract or estazolam treatment, particularly in the low-dose Valeriana jatamansi Jones group (P<0.01).cDNA microarray results demonstrated that corticotropin-releasing hormone and Orexin, which are associated with HPA axis function, were differentially expressed; expression increased in the model group, but decreased in rats treated with Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract.CONCLUSION:Valeriana jatamansi Jones extract plays a role in regulating HPA axis function in a rat model of anxiety, and this effect was superior to estazolam.Zhiyong Yan Tian'e Zhang Ting Xiao Lingzhen Pan Jinzhi Qin Zhanping Zhang Changying Zuo 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,14:9
5LncRNA PU.1 AS regulates arsenic-induced lipid metabolism through EZH2/Sirt6/SREBP-1c pathway显示文摘Arsenic (As) is an omnipresent metalloid toxicant,which has elicited serious environmental pollution and health risky problems.Previous studies have uncovered that the As exposure could also cause markedly reduction of serum triglycerides in mice.However,the regulation mechanisms are still largely unknown.The present study is aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs in As-induced lipid metabolic disequilibrium.We demonstrated that lncRNA PU.1 AS was significantly induced in the liver of As-feed mice companied with lower serum triglycerides contents;further in vitro experiment confirmed that PU.1 AS regulated liver cells lipid accumulation by nile red fluorescence staining.Intensive mechanistic investigations illustrated that PU.1 AS could interact with EZH2 protein to regulate its downstream target gene expression,and Asinduced PU.1 AS attenuated EZH2-supppressed Sirt6 expression,thereafter leading to a decreased SREBP-1c protein expression,as well as the diminished synthesis of triglycerides in hepatocytes.In conclusion,this study provided a new lncRNA-related regulatory signaling pathway participating in As-induced abnormal lipid metabolism.Zheng Dong Changying Li Chunyang Yin Ming Xu Sijin Liu Ming Gao 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,11:8
6Convolutional Neural Networks for Image-Based High-Throughput Plant Phenotyping:A Review显示文摘Plant phenotyping has been recognized as a bottleneck for improving the efficiency of breeding programs,understanding plantenvironment interactions,and managing agricultural systems.In the past five years,imaging approaches have shown great potential for high-throughput plant phenotyping,resulting in more attention paid to imaging-based plant phenotyping.With this increased amount of image data,it has become urgent to develop robust analytical tools that can extract phenotypic traits accurately and rapidly.The goal of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest studies using deep convolutional neural networks(CNNs)in plant phenotyping applications.We specifically review the use of various CNN architecture for plant stress evaluation,plant development,and postharvest quality assessment.We systematically organize the studies based on technical developments resulting from imaging classification,object detection,and image segmentation,thereby identifying state-of-the-art solutions for certain phenotyping applications.Finally,we provide several directions for future research in the use of CNN architecture for plant phenotyping purposes.Yu Jiang Changying Li 2020Plant Phenomics2020,2,1:8
7An intelligent coastline interpretation of several types of seacoasts from TM/ETM+ images based on rules显示文摘A coastline is defined as the average spring tide line. Different types of seacoast, such as sandy, silty, and biological coast, have different indicators of interpretation. It is very difficult to develop a universal method for interpreting all shorelines. Therefore, the sandy, the silty, and the biological coast are regarded as research objects, and with data mining technology, found the rules of interpretation of those three types of coastlines. Then, an intelligent coastline interpretation method based on rules was proposed. Firstly, the rules for extracting the waterline in Landsat TM/ETM+(Thematic Mapper/Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus) imagery were discovered. Then, through analyzing the features of sandy, silty and biological coast, the indicators of interpreting different types of shoreline were determined. According to the indicators, the waterline could be corrected to the real coastline. In order to verify the validity of the proposed algorithms, three Landsat TM/ETM+ imageries were selected for case studies. 8Correlation of Gut Microbiome Between ASD Children and Mothers and Potential Biomarkers for Risk Assessment显示文摘Variation of maternal gut microbiota may increase the risk of autism spectrum disorders(ASDs) in offspring. Animal studies have indicated that maternal gut microbiota is related to neurodevelopmental abnormalities in mouse offspring, while it is unclear whether there is a correlation between gut microbiota of ASD children and their mothers. We examined the relationships between gut microbiome profiles of ASD children and those of their mothers, and evaluated the clinical discriminatory power of discovered bacterial biomarkers. Gut microbiome was profiled and evaluated by 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing in stool samples of 59 mother–child pairs of ASD children and 30 matched mother–child pairs of healthy children. Significant differences were observed in the gut microbiome composition between ASD and healthy children in our Chinese cohort. Several unique bacterial biomarkers, such as Alcaligenaceae and Acinetobacter, were identified. Mothers of ASD children had more Proteobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria, Moraxellaceae, and Acinetobacter than mothers of healthy children. There was a clear correlation between gut microbiome profiles of children and their mothers; however, children with ASD still had unique bacterial biomarkers, such as Alcaligenaceae, Enterobacteriaceae, and Clostridium. Candidate biomarkers discovered in this study had remarkable discriminatory power. 9Preparation of Starch Succinate WITH INTERMEDIATE DS BY AQUEOUS SLURRY REACTION显示文摘The succinylation of cornstarch by slurry reaction has been studied using sodium hydroxide as catalyst. Several reaction parameters afJecting the succinylation were investigated including the concentration of starch in water, the ratio of succinic anhydride to starch, the reaction time and the reaction temperature. 10Wearable Alignment‑Free Microfber‑Based Sensor Chip for Precise Vital Signs Monitoring and Cardiovascular Assessment显示文摘Continuous pulse wave signals monitoring is the essential basis for clinical cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment.Recent researches show the majority of current electronic pulse sensors usually face challenges in electrical safety concern,poor durability and demanding precision in position alignment.Thus,a highly sensitive,inherently electrical safe,robust and alignment-free device is highly desired.Here,we present a wearable alignment-free microfber-based sensor chip(AFMSC)for precise vital signs monitoring and cardiovascular health assessment.The AFMSC comprises an optical micro/nano fber sensor(MNF)and a fexible soft liquid sac while the MNF sensor is used to perceive the physiological signals and the liquid sac is used to eliminate the misalignment.The real-time and accurate monitoring of the pulse signals was realized by tracking the optical power variation of transmitted light from MNF.Then,the cardiovascular vital signs extracted from radial artery pulse signals were used to evaluate cardiovascular health condition and the results were in accordance with human physiological characteristics.Moreover,the pulse signals from diferent arterial area,the respiration signals from chest and the radial pulse signals before and after exercise were detected and analyzed.The non-invasive,continuous and accurate monitoring of cardiovascular health based on the reported wearable and alignment-free device is promising in both ftness monitoring and medical diagnostics for cardiovascular disease prevention and diagnosis.Liangye Li Yunfei Liu Changying Song Shunfeng Sheng Liuyang Yang Zhijun Yan Dora Juan Juan Hu Qizhen Sun 2022Advanced Fiber Materials2022,4,3:5

12Deep learning image segmentation and extraction of blueberry fruit traits associated with harvestability and yield显示文摘Fruit traits such as cluster compactness,fruit maturity,and berry number per clusters are important to blueberry breeders and producers for making informed decisions about genotype selection related to yield traits and harvestability as well as for plant management.The goal of this study was to develop a data processing pipeline to count berries,to measure maturity,and to evaluate compactness(cluster tightness)automatically using a deep learning image segmentation method for four southern highbush blueberry cultivars(‘Emerald’,‘Farthing’,‘Meadowlark’,and‘Star’).An iterative annotation strategy was developed to label images that reduced the annotation time.A Mask R-CNN model was trained and tested to detect and segment individual blueberries with respect to maturity.The mean average precision for the validation and test dataset was 78.3%and 71.6%under 0.5 intersection over union(IOU)threshold,and the corresponding mask accuracy was 90.6%and 90.4%,respectively.Linear regression of the detected berry number and the ground truth showed an R2 value of 0.886 with a root mean square error(RMSE)of 1.484.Analysis of the traits collected from the four cultivars indicated that‘Star’had the fewest berries per clusters,‘Farthing’had the least mature fruit in mid-April,‘Farthing’had the most compact clusters,and‘Meadowlark’had the loosest clusters.The deep learning image segmentation technique developed in this study is efficient for detecting and segmenting blueberry fruit,for extracting traits of interests related to machine harvestability,and for monitoring blueberry fruit development.Xueping Ni Changying Li Huanyu Jiang Fumiomi Takeda 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:4
13Green and efficient degradation of cefoperazone sodium by Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) leading to the production of non-toxic products:Performance and degradation pathway显示文摘Photocatalytic process represents a promising approach to overcome the pollution challenge associated with the antibiotics-containing wastewater.This study provides a green,efficient and novel approach to remove cephalosporins,particularly cefoperazone sodium(CFP).Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) was chosen for the first time to systematically study its degradation for CFP,including the analysis of material structure,degradation performance,the structure and toxicity of the transformation products,etc.The degradation rate results indicated that Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) had an excellent catalytic activity leading to 78%CFP removal compared with the pure BiOBr(38%)within 120 min of visible light irradiation.In addition,the Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) presents high stability and good organic carbon removal efficiency.The effects of the solution p H(3.12-8.75)on catalytic activity revealed that CFP was mainly photocatalyzed under acidic conditions and hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions.Combined with active species and degradation product identification,the photocatalytic degradation pathways of CFP by Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) was proposed,including hydrolysis,oxidation,reduction and decarboxylation.Most importantly,the identified products were all hydrolysis rather than oxidation byproducts transformed from the intermediate ofβ-lactam bond cleavage in CFP molecule,quite different from the mostly previous studies.Furthermore,the final products were demonstrated to be less toxic through the toxicity analysis.Overall,this study illustrates the detailed mechanism of CFP degradation by Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) and confirms Bi_(4)O_(5)Br_(2) to be a promising material for the photodegradation of CFP.Yingying Chen Ruiping Li Yan Gu Hailin Tian Yingping Huang Junsong Chen Yanfen Fang Changying Yang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2:4
14An automatic detection of green tide using multi-windows with their adaptive threshold from Landsat TM/ETM plus image显示文摘Since the atmospheric correction is a necessary preprocessing step of remote sensing image before detecting green tide, the introduced error directly affects the detection precision. Therefore, the detection method of green tide is presented from Landsat TM/ETM plus image which needs not the atmospheric correction. In order to achieve an automatic detection of green tide, a linear relationship(y =0.723 x+0.504) between detection threshold y and subtraction x(x=λ_(nir)–λ_(red)) is found from the comparing Landsat TM/ETM plus image with the field surveys.Using this relationship, green tide patches can be detected automatically from Landsat TM/ETM plus image.Considering there is brightness difference between different regions in an image, the image will be divided into a plurality of windows(sub-images) with a same size firstly, and then each window will be detected using an adaptive detection threshold determined according to the discovered linear relationship. It is found that big errors will appear in some windows, such as those covered by clouds seriously. To solve this problem, the moving step k of windows is proposed to be less than the window width n. Using this mechanism, most pixels will be detected[n/k]×[n/k] times except the boundary pixels, then every pixel will be assigned the final class(green tide or sea water) according to majority rule voting strategy. It can be seen from the experiments, the proposed detection method using multi-windows and their adaptive thresholds can detect green tide from Landsat TM/ETM plus image automatically. 18Vibrio parahaemolyticus O10:K4:An Emergent Serotype with Pandemic Virulence Traits as Predominant Clone Detected by Whole-Genome Sequence Analysis--Beijing Municipality,China,2021显示文摘Introduction:Vibrio parahaemolyticus(V.parahaemolyticus)is a common foodborne pathogen which causes gastroenteritis in humans,especially the O3:K6 pandemic clone which is still a prominent serotype in Beijing,China.In this study,we observed a novel serotype O10:K4 isolated from clinical diarrhea cases,which became the most prevalent clone in 2021.Methods:73 clinical isolates were collected through sentinel hospitals’surveillance in 2021.Serum agglutination testing and antimicrobial susceptibility testing were conducted.Whole genome sequencing was applied to characterize 73 V.parahaemolyticus strains and complete phylogenetic analysis.Results:Seven serotypes were identified among 73 strains.O10:K4 was the most common serotype(83.6%),followed by O2:KUT,O4:KUT,and O1:KUT.Multilocus sequence typing divided the 73 isolates into 10 sequence types(STs)with ST3 as the most prevalent,which covered all O10:K4 strains.Most isolates were sensitive to common antimicrobial agents apart from colistin.All the O10:K4 isolates were positive for the thermostable direct hemolysin gene,toxRS/new,and orf8,and negative for the TDH-related hemolysin gene.The whole genome sequencing-single nucleotide polymorphism phylogenetic analysis revealed O10:K4 strains formed a main genetic lineage,which was genetically distinct from other serotypes.We also demonstrated the presence of two type III secretion system genes(T3SS1 and T3SS2)andβlactamase resistance gene blaCARB-22 in all O10:K4 strains.Conclusions:The study confirmed the emergence of V.parahaemolyticus O10:K4 possessing virulence factors similar to the O3:K6 pandemic clone,which may have enabled them to become prevalent in Beijing,China.Ying Huang Bing Lyu Xin Zhang Yi Tian Changying Lin Lingyu Shen Hanqiu Yan Daitao Zhang Lei Jia Mei Qu Quanyi Wang 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,22:2
193D point cloud data to quantitatively characterize size and shape of shrub crops显示文摘Size and shape are important properties of shrub crops such as blueberries,and they can be particularly useful for evaluating bush architecture suited to mechanical harvesting.The overall goal of this study was to develop a 3D imaging approach to measure size-related traits and bush shape that are relevant to mechanical harvesting.3D point clouds were acquired for 367 bushes from five genotype groups.Point cloud data were preprocessed to obtain clean bush points for characterizing bush architecture,including bush morphology(height,width,and volume),crown size,and shape descriptors(path curveλand five shape indices).One-dimensional traits(height,width,and crown size)had high correlations(R^(2)=0.88–0.95)between proposed method and manual measurements,whereas bush volume showed relatively lower correlations(R^(2)=0.78–0.85).These correlations suggested that the present approach was accurate in measuring one-dimensional size traits and acceptable in estimating three-dimensional bush volume.Statistical results demonstrated that the five genotype groups were statistically different in crown size and bush shape.The differences matched with human evaluation regarding optimal bush architecture for mechanical harvesting.In particular,a visualization tool could be generated using crown size and path curveλ,which showed great potential of determining bush architecture suitable for mechanical harvesting quickly.Therefore,the processing pipeline of 3D point cloud data presented in this study is an effective tool for blueberry breeding programs(in particular for mechanical harvesting)and farm management.Yu Jiang Changying Li Fumiomi Takeda Elizabeth A.Kramer Hamid Ashrafi Jamal Hunter 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:2
