1A complex variable meshless method for fracture problems显示文摘Based on the moving least-square (MLS) approximation, the complex variable moving least-square approximation (CVMLS) is discussed in this paper. The complex variable moving least-square approximation cannot form ill-conditioned equations, and has greater precision and computational efficiency. Using the analytical solution near the tip of a crack, the trial functions in the complex variable moving least-square approxi- mation are extended, and the corresponding approximation function is obtained. And from the minimum potential energy principle, a complex variable meshless method for fracture problems is presented, and the formulae of the complex variable meshless method are obtained. 3A Novel Semiconductor CIGS Photovoltaic Material and Thin-Film ED Technology显示文摘In order to achieve low cost high efficiency thin film solar cells,a novel Semiconductor Photovoltaic (PV) active material CuIn 1-x Ga x Se 2 (CIGS) and thin film Electro Deposition (ED) technology is explored.Firstly,the PV materials and technologies is investigated,then the detailed experimental processes of CIGS/Mo/glass structure by using the novel ED technology and the results are reported.These results shows that high quality CIGS polycrystalline thin films can be obtained by the ED method,in which the polycrystalline CIGS is definitely identified by the (112),(204,220) characteristic peaks of the tetragonal structure,the continuous CIGS thin film layers with particle average size of about 2μm of length and around 1 6μm of thickness.The thickness and solar grade quality of CIGS thin films can be produced with good repeatability.Discussion and analysis on the ED technique,CIGS energy band and sodium (Na) impurity properties,were also performed.The alloy CIGS exhibits not only increasing band gap with increasing x ,but also a change in material properties that is relevant to the device operation.The beneficial impurity Na originating from the low cost soda lime glass substrate becomes one prerequisite for high quality CIGS films.These novel material and technology are very useful for low cost high efficiency thin film solar cells and other devices.ZHENG Guang fu 1,YANG Hong xing 1,MAN Cheuk ho 1,WONG Wing lok 2, AN Da wei 1 and John BURNETT 1(1 Centre for Development of Solar Energy Technology,Department of Building Services Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University,Hong Kong,C 2001Journal of Semiconductors2001,22,11:10
4Current progress in epigenetic research for hepato-carcinomagenesis显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma is the main type of primary liver cancer,and also one of the most malignant tumors.At present,the pathogenesis mechanisms of liver cancer are not entirely clear.It has been shown that inactivation of tumor suppressor genes and activation of oncogenes play a significant role in carcinogenesis,caused by the genetic and epigenetic aberrance.In the past,people generally thought that genetic mutation is a key event of tumor pathogenesis,and somatic mutation of tumor suppressor genes is in particular closely associated with oncogenesis.With deeper understanding of tumors in recent years,increasing evidence has shown that epigenetic silencing of those genes,as a result of aberrant hypermethylation of CpG islands in promoters and histone modification,is essential to carcinogenesis and metastasis.The term epigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression caused by regulation mechanisms,other than changes in the underlying DNA sequence.Specific epigenetic processes include DNA methylation,genome imprinting,chromotin remodeling,histone modification and microRNA regulations.This paper reviews recent epigenetics research progress in the hepatocellular carcinoma study,and tries to depict the relationships between hepatocellular carcinomagenesis and DNA methylation as well as microRNA regulation.HUANG Jian National Human Genome Research Center at Shanghai-Ministry of Science and Technology to build a healthy and disease Ge-nomics Laboratory,Shanghai 201203,China 2009Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,1:9
5Design optimization of cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys for high damping capacity显示文摘This paper investigated high-damping Cu-Al-Be-B cast alloys using metallographic analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrical resistance measurements for transformation temperatures. The results showed that beryllium can stabilize β phase, resulting in a thermo-elastic martensite microstructure leading to high-damping capacity in cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys. Trace additions of boron to Cu-Al-Be alloys can significantly refine the grains, providing high strength and ductility to the alloys. A factorial design of experiment method was used to optimize the composition and properties of cast Cu-Al-Be-B alloys. The optimal microstructure for thermo-elastic martensite can be obtained by adjusting the amounts of aluminum and beryllium to eutectoid or pseudo-eutectoid compositions. 7A numerical study on fire endurance of wood beams exposed to three-side fire显示文摘To investigate the fire endurance of wood beams exposed to three-side fire, we conducted bearing capacity tests of two wood beams and experiments of five wood beams exposed to three-side fire. The finite element software ANSYS was also used to predict the fire endurance of those beams with the indirect order coupling method. It was found that the fire endurance decreases as the load level increases, and the reduction ratio tends to decrease. In the case of a certain load level, the fire endurance is improved if the section size is increased or covered by the fire protection coating. The central deformation increases as the fire duration increases, and the ratio of increase tends to rise. On another note, an increase in the density of wood leads to a rise in the fire endurance of a given beam. From the finite element method (FEM) calculation results, the fire endurance decreases as the load level increases, and the reduction ratio tends to decrease. When the load level is greater than 0.5, the fire endurance is significantly reduced, and it does not change significantly when the load level changes. 9Revision of seismic design codes corresponding to building damagesin the “5.12” Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘A large number of buildings were seriously damaged or collapsed in the '5.12' Wenchuan earthquake. Based on field surveys and studies of damage to different types of buildings, seismic design codes have been updated. This paper briefly summarizes some of the major revisions that have been incorporated into the 'Standard for classification of seismic protection of building constructions GB50223-2008' and 'Code for Seismic Design of Buildings GB50011-2001.' The definition of seismic fortification class for buildings has been revisited, and as a result, the seismic classifications for schools, hospitals and other buildings that hold large populations such as evacuation shelters and information centers have been upgraded in the GB50223-2008 Code. The main aspects of the revised GB50011-2001 code include: (a) modification of the seismic intensity specified for the Provinces of Sichuan, Shanxi and Gansu; (b) basic conceptual design for retaining walls and building foundations in mountainous areas; (c) regularity of building configuration; (d) integration of masonry structures and precast RC floors; (e) requirements for calculating and detailing stair shafts; and (f) limiting the use of single-bay RC frame structures. 10Integrin betal mediates hepatocellular carcinoma cells chemotaxis to laminin显示文摘BACKGROUND: Chemotaxis is an important step durin the invasion of carcinoma cells. And integrins are most im portant receptors mediating interaction between cells an extracellular matrix ( ECM). This study was designed t study integrin betal mediating chemotaxis of hepatocellula carcinoma (HCC) cells to laminin (LN). METHODS: A micropipette technique was adopted to in vestigate the effect of blockade of integrin betal on pseudo pod protrusion of HCC cells in response to LN stimulation Chemotactic pseudopod protrusion of a HCC cell was eva luated using a dual-pipette set-up, in which two pipette filled with LN solution were positioned in close contact wit the same cell, and pseudopod protrusion into each pipett was viewed dynamically and recorded with a tape recorder The lengths of pseudopods were measured and plotte against time to obtain a pseudopod growth curve. The in tegrin betal subunit on the surfaces of HCC cells were ana lyzed by flow cytometry. RESULTS: In dual pipette chemotaxis experiment, whe the two pipettes were filled with LN(50 μg/ml, 200 μg/ml) pseudopods extended from the HCC cell into each of th pipettes nearly symmetrically, ie, with nearly identica maximum pseudopod length and similar pseudopod growth curves. Upon addition of anti-CD29 (20 μg/ml) to one o the pipettes, pseudopod protrusion was blocked nearly completely while protrusion into the opposite pipette be came more evidently, with a larger maximum length. Ex pression of integrin betal was up to 95.78% to cells chosen in the experiment. 11NUMERICAL STUDY ON AIR FLOW AROUND AN OPENING WITH LARGE EDDY SIMULATION显示文摘Jet characteristics of air supply opening in a ventilating or an air-conditioning system is primarily decided by the folw state in the duct connected to the opening. It is valuable to study the opening jet characteristics and the flow state in a duct. In this study, the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) technique combined with the Tarlor-Galerkin Finite Element Method (FEM) in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was applied to the problem. The 3-D flow fields in ducts around air supply opening under typical conditions were investigated by numerical simulation as well as experimental measurements. Numerical results agree well with the available experimental data. 12EPIGENETIC NATURE OF RADIATION CARCINOGENESIS AT LOW DOSES显示文摘The present paradigm of radiation-induced carcinogenesis has been based on somatic mutation theory initiating a mutation in somatic cells derived from DNA damage by ionizing radiation. A non-threshold linear model has been assumed from high doses to low doses. As an alternative to this, we are proposing a new model that epigenetic changes induced by low dose irradiation may be a first step of carcinogenesis. 15Prokaryote phylogeny meets taxonomy: An exhaustive comparison of composition vector trees with systematic bacteriology显示文摘We perform an exhaustive, taxon by taxon, comparison of the branchings in the composition vector trees (CVTrees) inferred from 432 prokaryotic genomes available on 31 December 2006, with the bacte-riologists' taxonomy-primarily the latest online Outline of the Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteri-ology. The CVTree phylogeny agrees very well with the Bergey's taxonomy in majority of fine branchings and overall structures. At the same time most of the differences between the trees and the Manual have been known to biologists to some extent and may hint at taxonomic revisions. 17Influence of Al Composition on the Microstructure of B Alloyed Ni_3Al Synthesized under Compression显示文摘It was shown by TEM and X-ray analysis that Ni3Al is the main phase of the intermetallic synthesized under compression from the powder mixture of Ni with Al alloyed by B. The Ni3B is a secondary phase. The value of the lattice parameter of the intermetallic Ni3Al with and without B increases when the concentration of Al increases. 18Spatial and temporal regulation of collagenases-3, -4,and stromelysin -3 implicates distinct functions in apoptosis and tissue remodeling during frog metamorphosis显示文摘Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of extracellular proteases capable of degrading various proteinaceous components of the extracellular matrix (ECM).They have been implicated to play important roles in a number of developmental and pathological processes, such as tumor metastasis and inflammation. Relatively few studies have been carried out to investigate the function of MMPs during postembryonic organ-development. Using Xenopus laevis development as a model system, we demonstrate here that three MMPs, stromelysin-3 (ST3),collagenases-3 (Col3), and Col4, have distinct spatial and temporal expression profiles during metamorphosis as the tadpole transforms into a frog. In situ hybridizations reveal a tight, but distinct, association of individual MMPs with tissue remodeling in the tail and intestine during metamorphosis. In particular, ST3 expression is strongly correlated with apoptosis in both organs as demonstrated by analyses of serial sections with in situ hybridization for ST3 mRNA and TUNEL (terminal deoxyribonucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling) for apoptosis, respectively. On the other hand, Col3 and Col4 MMPs in Xenopus laevis development are present in regions where extensive connective tissue remodeling take place. 19Features of long-term health monitored strains of a bridge with wavelet analysis显示文摘This paper analyses the five years' monitored strains collected from a long-term health monitoring system installed on a bridge with wavelet transform.In the analysis,the monitored strains are pre-processed,features of the monitored data are summarized briefly.The influences of the base functions on the results of wavelet analysis are studied simultaneously.The results show that the db wavelet is a good mother wavelet function in the analysis,and the order N should be larger than 20,but less than 46 in decomposing the monitored strains of the bridge.According to the strain variation features of concrete bridge,the proper decomposition level is 4 in the wavelet multi-resolution analysis.With the present method,the strains caused by random loads and daily sunlight can be accurately extracted from the monitored strains.The decomposed components of the monitored strains show that the amplitudes of the strains caused by random loads,daily sunlight,and annual temperature effect,are about 5 με,25 με,and 50 με respectively.The structural response under random load is smaller than the other parts.Zejia Liu,Bin Jiang,Liqun Tang,Yiping Liu,Chunyu Zhang,and Yinghua Li School of Civil Engineering and Transportation,State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science,South China University of Technology,Guangzhou 510640,China 2011Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2011,1,5:3
20Asymptotic Analysis Methods for Structural Reliability显示文摘- Applying Laplace asymptotic approximation of integral, asymptotic analysis methods of structural reliability are proposed in generalized and orthogonal random space.
