| 1 | A vertical sounding of severe haze process in Guangzhou area显示文摘We detected a severe haze process in Guangzhou area with lidar and microwave radiometer, performed an inversion to get boundary layer height by wavelet covariance transform, and analyzed the correlation between meteorological factors of boundary layer and visibility from the perspective of dynamical and thermodynamic structures. Our results indicate that the boundary layer height shows significant daily changes, consistent with ground visibility variation. During the cleaning process, the boundary layer height exceeded 1 km; during severe haze, the height was only 500 m. Temperature gradient of 50–100 m, which was 30 h lag, was remarkably correlated with visibility, with the correlation coefficient of 0.77. High layer visibility(255 m) and low layer stability were significantly anticorrelation, and the maximum anticorrelation coefficient was up to-0.76 in cleaning days and-0.49 in haze days. In the related boundary layer meteorological factors, surface ventilation coefficient was linearly correlated with ground visibility, with the greatest correlation coefficient of 0.88. The correlation coefficients of boundary layer height, ground wind velocity, relative humidity and ground visibility were 0.76, 0.67, and-0.77, respectively. There was a strong correlation between different meteorological factors. The dominant meteorological factor during this haze process was surface ventilation coefficient. | 2 | Simulation analysis of municipal solid waste pyrolysis and gasification based on Aspen plus显示文摘To predict and analyze the municipal solid waste(MSW)pyrolysis and gasification process in an updraft fixed bed more veritably and appropriately,numerical modeling based on Gibbs energy minimization was executed using the Aspen plus software.The RYield module was combined with the RGibbs module to describe the pyrolysis section,while the RGibbs module was used for the gasification section individually.The proposed model was used to forecast and analyze the target performance parameters including syngas composition,lower heating value(LHV)and carbon conversion rate under different conditions of the gasification temperatures,and ratios and types of gasifying agents.The results indicate that there is a good agreement between the experimental data and the simulated data obtained using this model.The predicted optimum gasification temperature is approximately 750°C,and the best ratio of water vapor as gasifying agent is around 0.4.The mixture of flue gas and water vapor has an economical and recycled prospect among four commonly used gasifying agents. | Na DENG Dongyan LI Qiang ZHANG Awen ZHANG Rongchang CAI Biting ZHANG | 2019 | Frontiers in Energy2019,13,1: | 3 |

| 4 | Alternatively spliced BobCAL transcripts alter curd morphotypes in a collection of Chinese cauliflower accessions显示文摘The curd of cauliflower(Brassica oleracea L.var.botrytis)is a modified inflorescence that is consumed as a vegetable.Curd formation is proposed to be due to a mutation in the BobCAULIFLOWER(BobCAL)gene,but the genetic relationship between BobCAL variation and curd morphotypes remains obscure.To address this question,we collected and classified a collection of 78 cauliflower accessions into four subpopulations according to curd surface features:smooth,coarse,granular,and hairy curd morphotypes.Through the cDNA sequencing of BobCAL alleles,we showed that smooth and coarse accessions characterized by inflorescence meristem arrest presented a strong association with the 451T SNP(BobCAL_T),whereas granular and hairy accessions marked with floral organ arrest presented an association with 451G(BobCAL_G).Interestingly,all BobCAL alleles were alternatively spliced,resulting in a total of four alternative splice(AS)variants due to the retention of the fourth and/or seventh introns.Among accessions with BobCAL_G alleles,the total expression of all these AS variants in granular plants was almost equal to that in hairy plants;however,the expression of the individual AS variants encoding intact proteins relative to those encoding truncated proteins differed.Hairy accessions showed relatively high expression of the individual variants encoding intact proteins,whereas granular accessions displayed relatively low expression.In smooth cauliflower,the overexpression of the BobCAL_Ga variant caused an alteration in the curd morphotype from smooth to hairy,concurrent with an increase in the expression levels of downstream floral identity genes.These results reveal that alternative splicing of BobCAL transcripts is involved in the determination of cauliflower curd morphotypes. | Wenguang Cao Biting Cao Xuan Wang Jinjuan Bai Yong-Zhen Xu Jianjun Zhao Xiaorong Li Yuke He Shengwu Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |
