| 2 | Evaluation of optimization operation models for cascaded hydropower reservoirs to utilize medium range forecasting inflow显示文摘This paper evaluates the performances of the models that incorporate forecasting inflow for cascaded hydropower reservoirs operation.These models are constructed separately on the concepts of explicit stochastic optimization(ESO)and implicit stochastic optimization(ISO)as well as parameterization-simulation-optimization(PSO).Firstly,the aggregation-disaggregation method is implemented in ESO models to reduce the complexity of stochastic dynamic programming(SDP).And the aggregate flow SDP(AF-SDP)and aggregation-disaggregation SDP(AD-SDP)are constructed respectively.Secondly,in ISO model,decision tree is the well-known and widespread algorithm.The algorithm C 5.0 is selected to extract the if-then-else rules for reservoir operation.Thirdly,based on the PSO model,the hedging rule curves(HRCs)are pre-defined by fusing the storage and inflow as state variable.The parameters of the HRCs are determined by using the simulation-optimization model.Finally,China’s Hun River cascade hydropower reservoirs system is taken as an example to illustrate the efficiency and reliability of the models.In addition,the values of quantitative precipitation forecasts of the global forecast system(10 days lead-time)are implemented to forecast the 10 days inflow. | XU Wei PENG Yong WANG BenDe | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10: | 11 |
| 3 | Risk analysis of flood control operation mode with forecast information based on a combination of risk sources显示文摘Risk analysis of reservoir flood control operation mode with forecast information (FCOMFI) is an important basis for the design and implementation of FCOMFI. Most of current researches on this issue are incomplete as they only consider flood forecast errors, but not many other uncertainties in reservoir routing. In order to obtain an integrated risk rate of FCOMFI, this paper analyzes four uncertainties, i.e. hydrological, hydraulic, stage-storage uncertainty and time-delay uncertainty, as well as their probability distributions. On the basis of this analysis, an integrated risk analysis model of FCOMFI for reservoirs and its lower reach is established involving the above-mentioned four uncertainties, and this model is solved by Monte Carlo simulation based on Latin hypercube sampling. The simulation results, with Baiguishan reservoir as the example, show that the integrated risk rates of FCOMFI are less than those of the flood control operation mode without forecast information. | 4 | Classified real-time flood forecasting by coupling fuzzy clustering and neural network显示文摘This paper presented a new classified real-time flood forecasting framework by integrating a fuzzy clustering model and neural network with a conceptual hydrological model. A fuzzy clustering model was used to classify historical floods in terms of flood peak and runoff depth, and the conceptual hydrological model was calibrated for each class of floods. A back-propagation (BP) neural network was trained by using real-time rainfall data and outputs from the fuzzy clustering model. BP neural network provided a rapid on-line classification for real-time flood events. Based on the on-line classification, an appropriate parameter set of hydrological model was automatically chosen to produce real-time flood forecasting. Different parameter sets was continuously used in the flood forecasting process because of the changes of real-time rainfall data and on-line classification results. The proposed methodology was applied to a large catchment in Liaoning province, China. Results show that the classified framework provided a more accurate prediction than the traditional non-classified method. | 6 | Separating impacts of vegetation change and climate variability on streamflow using hydrological models together with vegetation data显示文摘Vegetation information is seldom considered in lumped conceptual rainfall-runoff models.This paper uses two modified rainfall-runoff models,the Xinanjiang-ET and SIMHYD-ET models in which vegetation leaf area index is incorporated,to investigate impacts of vegetation change and climate variability on streamflow in a Southern Australian catchment,the Crawford River experimental catchment,where Tasmanian blue gum plantations were introduced gradually from 1998 till 2005.The Xinanjiang-ET and SIMHYD-ET models incorporate remotely-sensed leaf area index(LAI) data obtained from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer(AVHRR) on board NOAA polar orbiting satellites.Compared to the original versions,the Xinanjiang-ET and SIMHYD-ET models show marginal improvements in runoff simulations in the pre-plantation period(1882-1997).The calibrated Xinanjaing-ET and SIMHYD-ET models are then used to simulate plantation impact on streamflow in the post-plantation period.The total change in streamflow between the pre-plantation and post-plantation periods is 32.4 mm/a.The modelling results from the two models show that plantation reduces streamflow by 20.5 mm/a,and climate variability reduces streamflow by 11.9 mm/a.These results suggest that increase in plantations can reduce streamflow substantially,even more than climate variability. | LI HuiYun ZHANG YongQiang WANG BenDe | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,7: | 6 |
