4Proton pump inhibitors therapy and risk of Clostridium difficile infection: Systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) therapy and the risk of Clostridium difficile infection(CDI). METHODS We conducted a systematic search of MEDLINE/Pub Med and seven other databases through January 1990 to March 2017 for published studies that evaluated the association between PPIs and CDI. Adult case-control and cohort studies providing information on the association between PPI therapy and the development of CDI were included. Pooled odds ratios(ORs) estimates with 95% confidence intervals(CIs) were calculated using the random effect. Heterogeneity was assessed by I^2 test and Cochran's Q statistic.Potential publication bias was evaluated via funnel plot, and quality of studies by the Newcastle-Otawa Quality Assessment Scale(NOS). RESULTS Fifty-six studies(40 case-control and 16 cohort) involving 356683 patients met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Both the overall pooled estimates and subgroup analyses showed increased risk for CDI despite substantial statistical heterogeneity among studies. Meta-analysis of all studies combined showed a significant association between PPI users and the risk of CDI(pooled OR = 1.99, CI: 1.73-2.30, P < 0.001) as compared with non-users. The association remained significant in subgroup analyses: by design-case-control(OR = 2.00, CI: 1.68-2.38, P < 0.0001), and cohort(OR = 1.98, CI: 1.51-2.59, P < 0.0001); adjusted(OR = 1.95, CI: 1.67-2.27, P < 0.0001) and unadjusted(OR = 2.02, CI: 1.41-2.91, P < 0.0001); unicenter(OR = 2.18, CI: 1.72-2.75, P < 0.0001) and multicenter(OR = 1.82, CI: 1.51-2.19, P < 0.0001); age ≥ 65 years(OR = 1.93, CI: 1.40-2.68, P < 0.0001) and < 65 years(OR = 2.06, CI: 1.11-3.81, P < 0.01). No significant differences were found in subgroup analyses(test for heterogeneity): P = 0.93 for case-control vs cohort, P = 0.85 for adjusted vs unadjusted, P = 0.24 for unicenter vs multicenter, P = 0.86 for age ≥ 65 years and < 65 years. There was significant heterogeneity across studies(I^2 = 85.4%, P < 0.001) as well as evidence of publication bias(funnel plot asymmetry test, P = 0.002). CONCLUSION This meta-analysis provides further evidence that PPI use is associated with an increased risk for development of CDI. 15Sagaing Fault slip and deformation in Myanmar observed by continuous GPS measurements显示文摘The Sagaing Fault is a major tectonic structure between the Indian Plate and Sunda Plate.The fault measures 1200 km along north-south and cuts through the centre of Myanmar.Many urban areas lie along the fault.As a result,Myanmar has established a continuous Global Positioning System(cGPS) network across the Sagaing Fault since 2011.The cGPS network consists of eight cGPS stations that form two transects across the fault.The data analysis covers a period of four years from 2011 to 2014.GAMIT,GLOBK,and TRACK software suite packages are used for GPS data processing and analysis.This study consists of two main objectives.The first objective is to analyse the Myanmar cGPS network observations in order to measure the moving rate and direction of movement for each cGPS station using GAMIT/GLOBK software packages.The second objective is to investigate the co-seismic moving rate associated with the earthquake event using TRACK kinematic positioning program.The analysis results indicate that the east side of the Sagaing Fault moves southeastward at the average rate of approximately 32-40 mm/a,whereas the west side of the fault moves northeastward at the rate of about 31-35 mm/a.For co-seismic analysis,two cGPS stations are analysed in connection with the 2012 M6.8 Thabeikkyin earthquake.These stations are located 50-60 km away from the epicentre.The GPS data analysis clearly showed that the station at the east side of the Sagaing Fault immediately moved south by 15.0 cm,whereas the station at the west side of the fault moved north by3.0 cm.In conclusion,this study demonstrates that the Sagaing Fault's tectonic activities can be monitored by cGPS observations using geodetic processing techniques.We believe that such investigation brings contribution to better understand of the tectonic activities in Myanmar and South East Asia.Pyae Sone Aung Chalermchon Satirapod Constantin-Octavian Andrei 2016Geodesy and Geodynamics2016,7,1:4
16Classification of Soil Types Using Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis and Random Forests显示文摘There is increasing interest in developing automatic procedures to segment landscapes into soil spatial entities that replace conventional, expensive manual procedures for delineating and classifying soils. Geographic object-based image analysis(GEOBIA)partitions remote sensing imagery or digital elevation models into homogeneous image objects based on image segmentation. We used an object-based methodology for the detailed delineation and classification of soil types using digital maps of topography and vegetation as soil covariates, based on the Random Forests(RF) classifier. We compared the object-based method's results with those of a pixel-based classification using the same classifier. We used 18 digital elevation model derivatives and 5 remote sensing indices that were related to vegetation cover and soil. Using 171 soil profiles with their associated environmental variable values,the RF method was used to identify the most important soil type predictors for use in the segmentation process. A stack of rastergeodatasets corresponding to the selected predictors was segmented using a multi-resolution segmentation algorithm, which resulted in homogeneous objects related to soil types. These objects were further classified as soil types using the same method, RF. We also conducted a pixel-based classification using the same classifier and soil profiles, and the resulting maps were assessed in terms of their accuracy using 30% of the soil profiles for validation. We found that GEOBIA was an effective method for soil type mapping, and was superior to the pixel-based approach. 19The Top of the Biomimetic Triangle显示文摘There is increasing observational evidence indicating that crystalline interfacial water layers play a central role in evolution and biology.For instance in cellular recognition processes,in particular during first contact events,where cells decide upon survival or entering apoptosis.Understanding water layers is thus crucial in biomedical engineering,specifically in the design of biomaterials inspired by biomimetic principles.Whereas there is ample experimental evidence for crystalline interfacial water layers on surfaces in air,their subaquatic presence could not be verified directly,so far.Analysing a polarity dependent asym-metry in the surface conductivity on hydrogenated nanocrystalline diamond,we show that crystalline interfacial water layers persist subaquatically.Nanoscopic interfacial water layers with an order different from that of bulk water have been identified at room temperature on both hydrophilic and hydrophobic model surfaces-in air and subaquatically.Their generalization and systematic inclusion into the catalogue of physical and chemical determinants of biocompatibility complete the biomimetic triangle.Andrei P.
