| 5 | New insights into the epigenetic control of satellite cells显示文摘Epigenetics finely tunes gene expression at a functionallevel without modifying the DNA sequence, thereby contributing to the complexity of genomic regulation. Satellite cells(SCs) are adult muscle stem cells that are important for skeletal post-natal muscle growth, homeostasis and repair. The understanding of the epigenome of SCs at different stages and of the multiple layers of the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression is constantly expanding. Dynamic interactions between different epigenetic mechanisms regulate the appropriate timing of muscle-specific gene expression and influence the lineage fate of SCs. In this review, we report and discuss the recent literature about the epigenetic control of SCs during the myogenic process from activation to proliferation and from their commitment to a muscle cell fate to their differentiation and fusion to myotubes. We describe how the coordinated activities of the histone methyltransferase families Polycomb group(Pc G), which represses the expression of developmentally regulated genes, and Trithorax group, which antagonizes the repressive activity of the Pc G, regulate myogenesis by restricting gene expression in a time-dependent manner during each step of the process. We discuss how histone acetylation and deacetylation occurs in specific loci throughout SC differentiation to enable the time-dependent transcription of specific genes. Moreover, we describe the multiple roles of micro RNA, an additional epigenetic mechanism, in regulating gene expression in SCs, by repressing or enhancing gene transcription or translation during each step of myogenesis. The importance of these epigenetic pathways in modulating SC activation and differentiation renders them as promising targets for disease interventions. | 6 | Heterogeneous integration of contact-printed semiconductor nanowires for high-performance devices on large areas显示文摘In this work,we have developed a contact-printing system to efficiently transfer the bottom-up and top-down semiconductor nanowires(NWs),preserving their as-grown features with a good control over their electronic properties.In the close-loop configuration,the printing system is controlled with parameters such as contact pressure and sliding speed/stroke.Combined with the dry pre-treatment of the receiver substrate,the system prints electronic layers with high NW density(7 NWs/μm for bottom-up ZnO and 3 NWs/μm for top-down Si NWs),NW transfer yield and reproducibility.We observed compactly packed(~115 nm average diameters of NWs,with NW-to-NW spacing~165 nm)and well-aligned NWs(90%with respect to the printing direction).We have theoretically and experimentally analysed the role of contact force on NW print dynamics to investigate the heterogeneous integration of ZnO and Si NWs over pre-selected areas.Moreover,the contact-printing system was used to fabricate ZnO and Si NW-based ultraviolet(UV)photodetectors(PDs)with Wheatstone bridge(WB)configuration on rigid and flexible substrates.The UV PDs based on the printed ensemble of NWs demonstrate high efficiency,a high photocurrent to dark current ratio(>10^(4))and reduced thermal variations as a result of inherent self-compensation of WB arrangement.Due to statistically lesser dimensional variations in the ensemble of NWs,the UV PDs made from them have exhibited uniform response. | Carlos García Núñez Fengyuan Liu William Taube Navaraj Adamos Christou Dhayalan Shakthivel Ravinder Dahiya | 2018 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2018，4，1： | 3 |

| 8 | Instrumental and bio-monitoring of heavy metal and nanoparticle emissions from diesel engine exhaust in controlled environment显示文摘In the present article we characterized the emissions at the exhaust of a Common Rail (CR) diesel engine, representative of lightduty class, equipped with a catalyzed diesel particulate filter (CDPF) in controlled environment. The downstream exhausts were directly analyzed (for PM, CO, CO2, O2, HCs, NOx) by infrared and electrochemical sensors, and SEM-EDS microscope; heavy metals were chemically analyzed using mosses and lichens in bags, and glass-fibre filters all exposed at the engine exhausts. The highest particle emission value was in the 7–54 nm size range; the peak concentration rose until one order of magnitude for the highest load and speed. Particle composition was mainly carbonaceous, associated to noticeable amounts of Fe and silica fibres. Moreover, the content of Cu, Fe, Na, Ni and Zn in both moss and lichen, and of Al and Cr in moss, was significantly increased. Glass-fibre filters were significantly enriched in Al, B, Ba, Cu, Fe, Na, and Zn.
