Understanding Urban Spatial Structure of Shanghai Central City Based on Mobile Phone Data显示文摘Taking Shanghai Central City as its case study, this paper presents an approach to exploring the urban spatial structure through mobile phone positioning data. Firstly, based on base station location data and mobile phone signaling data, the paper analyses the number of users connecting to each base station, and further generates the maps of mobile phone user density through kernel density analysis. We move on to calculate the multi-day average user density based on a time frame of 10:00 and 23:00 at workdays and 15:00 and 23:00 at weekends for Shanghai Central City. Then, through spatial aggregation and density classifi cation on the density maps of 10:00 at workdays and 15:00 at weekends, we identify the ranks and functions of public centers within Shanghai Central City. Lastly, we identify residential areas, business off ice areas, and leisure areas in Shanghai Central City and measure the degree of functional mix by comparing the ratio of day and night user density as well as the user density at nighttime of workdays and weekends. | Niu Xinyi Ding Liang Song Xiaodong Zhang Qingfei | 2015 | China City Planning Review2015,24,3: | 7

Research Progress of the Application of Big Data in China's Urban Planning显示文摘The arrival of the big data era facilitates the reform on related research and its application in the fi eld of urban planning from the mode of thinking to the technical method, which provides a technical foundation and platform for supporting the demands of residents as micro subjects in the process of city development. Beginning with analyzing the changes in urban planning thoughts under the infl uence of big data, this paper then summarizes the major reforms in urban planning research methodology and a city's plan formulation process caused by the application of big data, such as thinking mode, researching method, and planning process, based on which relevant issues like publicity and sharing of data, authenticity of data, and security of data that need to be further discussed and solved are analyzed, with the expectation of promoting the development of urban planning research and application in this new era. | Dang Anrong Xu Jian Tong Biao Li Juan Qian Fang | 2015 | China City Planning Review2015,24,1: | 7

基于熵值法的老年人公交满意度分析显示文摘Population aging is happening in many places, such as on the Chinese mainland and in Hong Kong.Hong Kong, with the second-highest percentage of older adults in Asia,is among the world’s fastest-aging societies. Moreover, the city has very high transit patronage:transit trips constitute approximately 90%of all trips.Given the significance of transit in Hong Kong, improving transit services for older adults is of substantial importance. In light of this, based on the data of transit satisfaction(or perception)collected by a questionnaire survey in March 2015(N=613),this study adopts the entropy weight method to determine the importance weights of an array of transit service quality attributes(e.g.,seat availability and travel stability). Then,it performs an index-based importance-satisfaction(I-S)analysis using the outcome of the previous step as a basis to determine priorities for transit service improvement. The results show that in the view of older adults, three service quality attributes in need of improvement are seat availability, waiting conditions, and service frequency.Accordingly, the paper puts forward policy implications for further implementation. | 杨林川 郭源园 刘吉祥 Liang Sisi(Proofread) | 2021 | China City Planning Review2021,30,1: | 5
Application of Spatial and Temporal Entropy Based on Multivariate Data for Measuring the Degree of Urban Function Mix显示文摘Quantifying the degree of urban function mix has great signifi cance to both urban planning practices and studies. This paper, fi rst of all, based on the data of points of interest(POIs), analyzes the spatial distribution patterns of urban functions in Beijing. Then according to the taxi GPS data with the origin and destination points(taxi-ODs), we identify the spatial and temporal pattern of the degree of urban function mix in Beijing. Finally, based on the information entropy model of the POIs and taxi-ODs, we establish a spatial entropy and a temporal entropy to quantitatively assess the degree of urban function mix, confirming by virtue of correlation analysis and regression analysis that the spatial entropy of POIs is closely associated with the temporal entropy of taxi-ODs, which proves that it is reasonable to assess the degree of urban function mix via these two entropies. As a result, the degree of urban function mix in Beijing is characterized by slowly decreasing from its core area along the 3rd and 4th Ring Roads to its periphery. In detail, there is the highest degree of urban function mix in Beijing's traditional core areas, including Zhongguancun, CBD(Central Business District), the Old Dongcheng District, the Old Xicheng District, and the area within the 2nd Ring Road; a higher degree in Wangjing area; and a low degree in Tiantongyuan and Huilongguan communities. The analytical results have initially achieved a more accurate identifi cation and quantitative evaluation on the degree of urban function mix, and can be taken as a supporting tool to analyze the comprehensiveness of urban functions. | Li Miaoyi Shen Zhenjiang Yang Tao Wang Jingyuan Kobayashi Fumihiko Li Min | 2015 | China City Planning Review2015,24,1: | 4

Smart Travel Based on Space-Time Behavior Study显示文摘In view of the significant demands and development trends of urbanization during the 12 th Five-Year Plan period, 'smart city' has attracted wide attention as an advanced city development concept in China. Under the circumstance of rapid urbanization, traffic congestion and accessibility defi ciency become major challenges to many Chinese cities, as transportation and travel are closely related to the effi ciency of a city's operation and the quality of people's life. As essential part of smart city planning and management, smart travel offers an effective behavior planning countermeasure to reduce the amount of urban traffi c and optimize the space-time distribution of travels and provides an effective technology to enrich the theories and methodologies of urban and transportation planning. Orienting at the practical demand of citizens and focusing on their travel behavior, this paper carries out a discussion on the smart travel framework based on space-time behavior study and analyzes smart travel planning and its policy route from multiple perspectives, including a prediction on travel demand, transportation planning, public policy-making, and urban planning. What's more, the paper suggests travel services for citizens based on space-time behavior analysis, such as providing personalized information, smart decision-making support, and individual behavior planning. | Chai Yanwei Shen Yue Ta Na Qian Fang | 2015 | China City Planning Review2015,24,1: | 3

Change and Continuity:Chinese Villages in Transition (I)–Longmei Village显示文摘This is the first in a series of four articles ethnographically exploring instances of village transformation in peri-urban China. Each article presents an in-depth case study of a single village and its unique combination of change and continuity.Together, these case studies demonstrate the specificity and idiosyncrasy of village transformation and the need for planners to'take actions that suit local conditions'(yindi zhiyi). This first installment investigates Longmei Village in the Panyu District of Guangzhou Municipality.Longmei’s leaders have encouraged economic transformation through industrialization and real estate development while seeking to maintain the village’s socio-spatial continuity. These competing priorities have led to contradictions in Longmei’s development,as integration into economic networks brings new people, goods, and ideas to the village. This tension has intensified as both registered villagers and migrant workers have pursued divergent visions for Longmei’s future transformation. | Nick R.Smith | 2013 | China City Planning Review2013,22,3: | 3
